The experiment by Derren Brown is a replication of one done in 1948 by Bertram Forer. The concept is called "The Forer effect" or "The Barnum effect".

The text that was used might have seemed personal, but was really very general. So general that everyone could identify with it.

This is because when people think about their behaviour to see if they match the text, they find it easier to think of times where they did act like the text says & don't consider the times they didn't. Psychology <3

My (partial) disappointment of being placed into Slytherin is only really because my sorting makes the Ravenclaw scarf hanging from my door a bit redundant.

Some of the questions, you could guess which house they would lead to, but I was trying to be honest, and I guess Green is where the internet would put me.

cont. and kim, i agree with lots of things you said. although we human folk feel like we need to categorize ourselves in order to be a part of something bigger, we can't solely define ourselves by these identifiers. some avid pottermore users were set on their "dream house", but with only four houses to choose from, its nearly impossible that you will match *that* perfectly.
