I think the train journey up north is so beautiful. I took a train from Birmingham to Glasgow last month and sights along the way were incredible. Being able to see a view of Durham (which is just stunning) and Edinburgh PLUS the Angel of the North along the way really made the long journey up there more interesting. I was really sad that it was too dark on the journey back to be able to see anything.

The best of it was that, like you, I didn't feel like I was in a hurry to get there... and I don't know about how you felt inside, but I was in such a peace of mind... very relaxed and enjoying everything.
