I kind of felt sorry for this guy at the time. Still do, really. Someone was probably holding a proverbial gun to his head to make the announcements that he did. Probably as a delaying tactic so maybe the top cronies in Saddam's power structure could try and get away.
I figure if a guy like Saddam Hussein is telling you read the cards, you do it, or you or someone you love dies.

That's a direct quote that you can check for yourself. This is after Saddam was executed. The guy is a total moron and he was a devoted acolyte of Saddam's.
