i love the OC. i think the place really cleaned up within the last couple of years... crimes gone down a ton but people still flip shit over the crime rate cuz it has a very low population and during the summer it increases ttoooonnnssss and that why...
I love ocean city i mean the bay all the boats fishing you guise dont know what its like to live here the city does not look amazing(not even a city) but it realy is a nice place if you know it well
OC is still cool, and I'm not knockin your home town. Just seems it's the only beach Md'ers seem to know (oh, and OBX). I've been to OC many, many times, and still do occasionally, I'm just partial to finer sand, less congestion and more thrill rides in Wildwood. Both are 3 hrs from Balt, so why not mix it up and go to both?
Wildwood, Nj, my fellow Md beach goers, is the answer to OC. If you like 1 super hwy with light after light, stick with OC. If you like a wider island w several smaller streets, WW is it. Way better beach, incredibly better boardwalk, not as crammed, only 3 hrs from Balt. It does have it's ratty area, (and so does OC), but all of Wildwood Crest is beautiful. Check it out on the web. And look up Morey's Piers. Plus there's Cape may!

A grand CONGRATULATIONS to you and your team on the new TV ad.
Former front desk receptionist, Beach Plaza Hotel, summer 1979
I got to tell you, Ocean City is more fun that a barrel of monkeys. It's a damn shame about the oceans boiling away but if anyone can do anything about it, it's that Mayor Rick. He's come a long way. When we were kids back in Cleveland he use to come over to our house and eat chicken salad sandwiches. I remember he was the first kid in the neighborhood who understood the mechanical idiosyncrasy of the Playtex lift and separate bra. I don't think we've got anything to worry about.
My god, how many people are going to take this ad seriously. Global warming, believe or don't believe. It doesn't matter. THIS AD IS A JOKE. Boiling away of the ocean in a billion years??? Will this planet be here anyway? Don't take life and yourself to seriously. Go to the ocean and have some fun!!!!!
No doubt Al Gore believes it!!! I saw him racing to Ocean City last week in his huge Ford Expidition SUV -- leaving a giant global carbon footprint in his wake!! LOL-0- this ad is fun not only creative but shows the true spirit that Ocean city has always had--locals who love their little town and just want to share it with the rest of us!
Tim, No one gets arrested for "metal spikes punk jacket: That is BS. He had to have done something else....I mean come on. My guess is he acted like a punk as well....and OC is all about family vacations...not punks. The cops make sure it stays that way.
I love it! Extremely creative and funny. Does that Mayor look and act a bit like William Shatner?
I have to admit though that OCMD will never be as fun as it was for Spring Break '87! Back then parties spilled out onto balconies and people called you up to join the booze-fest. We even shared some Peach Schnapps with a bike cop that looked like Eric Estrada (where's that picture?).
Ocean City is okay, but it's just like any other boardwalk-having, overcrowded, overpriced fascist beach town with too many stupid laws. My friend got arrested there when he was 17 because he had metal spikes on his punk jacket. His dad had to drive four hours to get him out of jail. O.C. has fucking retarded rent-a-cops. If you're in the area and want to go to the beach, visit Assateague Island Nat'l Seashore. It's virtually empty, clean, and there are wild ponies! Leave O.C. for lame tourists.
This is a great advertisement. I want to run right out and visit Ocean City, Maryland as soon as I can. Its not a scare technique, its called humor people....lighten up!
This is simply a funny, clever advertisement. Why does this have to be scrutinized by some of you here to its accuracy. Just enjoy it for what it is. Lighten up
You people need to lighten up. It was a funny play to grab your attention. Did it? YES! Will you visit Ocean City because of it, I don't know. But I bet some people will and that was the whole point in the first place. If they had just said "Come to Ocean City" it's great, you would have tuned it out. They didn't and now you are talking about it, watching the video and commenting about a place that 99% of you had never heard of before. I'd say the campaign was a success!
Exactly, the ad doesn't even have anything to DO with global warming... they even say so IN THE AD! Some people just can't let their politics go when they see something that they think confirms their point of view, when in fact, it has nothing to do with it.
This is brilliant advertising. Its funny and classic. I never knew there was an Ocean City, MD, but I do now. Lets not get our panties in a snit, its just a great funny commercial. Well Done.
I concur. Why is Faux News hiding the truth from us? The de-urinification of the ocean is a tragedy in the making. Everyone, please pee your part to stop this disaster.
This is NOT a result of Global Warming???? What??? Did the mayor actually utter a politically incorrect pharase? Send in the PC police NOW...before it's too late!
Freakin brilliant!! Has America lost it's mind to think that ANYBODY would panic over this? Are you looking for War of the Worlds confusion? Come on, Laugh!!
Both Obama and McCain saw the ad and are jointly going to submit legislation to fix this problem. It will require a 130% taxation of everyones pay check as soon as he takes office. The money will be used to pay for UN studies the next 1 billion years. We will not have to worry.
C'mon now, its OC... nothin exciting about it except that its a tourist trap... beach, go-carts, golfin, mini-golf, boardwalk, etc. The good times are definitely during senior week and the car shows. All them cars rippin up and down ocean gateway at a green light, thats what I'm gonna miss
Very creative! I like this guy! Some of you don't seem to get it, however. It's HUMOR, folks. The man even went so far as to specifically say IT'S NOT DUE TO GLOBAL WARMING, probably just to keep folks like you from taking that position and running with it. You did anyway. Good grief, lighten up!
He's talking about the sun's expansion from a yellow star to a red giant, which is going to happen in about 1 billion years. Global warming is a hoax, 600 sciencetists signed some paper saying its real and Al Gore jumped on that band wagon. Now 31,000 scientists, 9,000 of which have PHD's haev signed a paper saying its not real and yet people believe the 600 over the 31,000 ....how stupid can people be???
Your information is either purposefully incorrect, reversed or misinformed. The scientific consensus is that human beings contribute to climate change. It isn't a "hoax" as you claim, but an ongoing field of study which is still very young and obviously incomplete. Not everything is a conspiracy.
Do some researce, you'de be amazed at what you can find if your not just listening to what other people tell you. 43 trillion dollars to combat things that are false, I'd call that a hoax.
Haha, 43 trillion dollars?! The GNP of the entire United States is only 14 trillion dollars. Sounds like you're the one that needs to do more "researce"
You're full of crap. There is no "consensus" - sience is based on data and facts, not "consensus;" but even if it were, the "consensus" you're referring to does not exist. There are as many scientists (and more so that are credible and can argue their case with facts instead of politics) who dispute man made global warming (and I would argue even non-man-made global warming? as there are that believe in the hoax. I'd like to tell you to get your head out of your ass, but I know you won't.
Whatever you say. I'd ask you to do the same, but you won't either. Scientist reach a consensus based on facts and data, they don't start there. It's how theories are formed and how progress is made... through analysis and consensus. But it's always the loud minority that seems to get all the attention, so keep screaming your crap and more people will believe you. Congrats. You win.
You honestly don't get the parody here? It's a camp...a parody...it's meant to be funny...it's sarcasm...it's a great ad! I can't believe you or anyone else doesn't get it!
I was also wondering about all of the "legitimate science." Because there's actually legitimate science to prove global warming is a natural climate phase of the Earth, and there's also legitimate science that says the Earth is actually cooling right now. Either way, it's safe to agree that there is NOT sufficient evidence to justify a huge taxation on the American people.
On a REALISTIC note, the video has NOTHING to do with "Global Warming according to the guy who created it:
FROM FOX NEWS:
Earlier this year, while searching for ideas, one staffer read about a study in the Monthly Notices of the British Royal Astronomical Society.
The study described how, over hundreds of millions of years, the heat of the sun will steadily increase. After about a billion years, the oceans will boil themselves dry, for reasons separate from climate change.
Yay for Ocean City! Very clever and funny ad - the mock seriousness of the mayor and the little clips interspersed made me laugh, especially that one of the little boy hammering on the crab shells.
No. I'M not. Are you? No? Then no one cares about YOUR opinions on the subject either. You don't have to be an expert in a particular subject to understand its implications. If you want to continue your path of belief-driven ignorance about the possible ramifications of climate change, be my guest. Just know you're lack of knowledge about the legitimate science makes you wrong... no matter what you believe about the environment.
Before you go trumpeting the 'actual science', you might want to consider the scientific arguments and facts contradicting the global warming argument - or would those truths be inconvenient for Al Gore and yourself? Wank.
I have considered them, and I don't give two craps what Al Gore has to say. I can tell he's an extremist because I'm not a simpleton dupe, and I've never seen his propaganda film. I get my information from scientific journals and base my opinions on that. I don't believe in the extremist view, but I'm also not so ignorant to believe that human beings don't have an impact on a system of which they are a part. Don't assume I'm a "wank" simply because I don't dismiss "climate change" out of hand.
Funny video! If Global Warming predictions are correct, the water levels would RISE to the point where Ocean City would be washed away LONG before the ocean evaporated. If they were taking a shot at Global Warming, they did it in the most stupid way possible... but it's still a damn clever commercial!
Unfortunately, there won't be any global warming. Didn't Al Gore tell you that the average temperature has actually fallen since 1991? He didn't? Why ever wouldn't he?
Obviously this video being posted on FauxNews has led to a drooling mass of climate change-deniers dropping in here to leave comments. The video is not saying global warming doesn't exist. If anything it ACKNOWLEDGED global warming, it just said that the boiling away of the oceans had nothing to do with that phenomenon.
Foxnews is starting to get a little more tabloid than i would hope for. I can appreciate the humor but the gratuitous nonsense they place as headlines is getting tiresome. Alert Foxnews , we expect more !!
I can't believe that this is getting so much attention. It's a funny spoof, why is it on the front page of FOX News? Why does the world need to be so serious. RELAX!!
That totally ripped off Lost. The films that Jack and Locke watch that the dharma people filmed are just like that. I'll still give it an A for effort.
I like how the weathermen today says we reached a record high of 95 degrees today, the old record was 94 degrees back in 1866. So does that mean we had global warming back in 1866? BTW, great ad!
Best commercial I have ever seen ! amazing idea, and production !

That is awesome. Brilliant marketing and the best thing is that it's working. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I want this guy as my Major.

This guy is pretty creative and has a great sense of humor!
wdmeric 3 years ago
Very creative! I like this guy! Some of you don't seem to get it, however. It's HUMOR, folks. The man even went so far as to specifically say IT'S NOT DUE TO GLOBAL WARMING, probably just to keep folks like you from taking that position and running with it. You did anyway. Good grief, lighten up!

Great commercial. I like the sarcasm. Great angle, especially in this age of environmental paranoia.

That's sorta funny.

He's talking about the sun's expansion from a yellow star to a red giant, which is going to happen in about 1 billion years. Global warming is a hoax, 600 sciencetists signed some paper saying its real and Al Gore jumped on that band wagon. Now 31,000 scientists, 9,000 of which have PHD's haev signed a paper saying its not real and yet people believe the 600 over the 31,000 ....how stupid can people be???
ridgelon 3 years ago
Ridgelon, can you please cite a reference to this claim of "31,000 scientists, 9,000 of which haev PHD's haev signed a paper saying its not real..."
I'd like very much to take a look at it....
eidolon9 3 years ago
Your information is either purposefully incorrect, reversed or misinformed. The scientific consensus is that human beings contribute to climate change. It isn't a "hoax" as you claim, but an ongoing field of study which is still very young and obviously incomplete. Not everything is a conspiracy.
angstboy 3 years ago
Do some researce, you'de be amazed at what you can find if your not just listening to what other people tell you. 43 trillion dollars to combat things that are false, I'd call that a hoax.
ridgelon 3 years ago 3
I do... in legitimate scientific journals. And what you're saying isn't backed up by the facts.
angstboy 3 years ago
Haha, 43 trillion dollars?! The GNP of the entire United States is only 14 trillion dollars. Sounds like you're the one that needs to do more "researce"
timotheophany 3 years ago
You're full of crap. There is no "consensus" - sience is based on data and facts, not "consensus;" but even if it were, the "consensus" you're referring to does not exist. There are as many scientists (and more so that are credible and can argue their case with facts instead of politics) who dispute man made global warming (and I would argue even non-man-made global warming? as there are that believe in the hoax. I'd like to tell you to get your head out of your ass, but I know you won't.
libsarerdumb 3 years ago
Whatever you say. I'd ask you to do the same, but you won't either. Scientist reach a consensus based on facts and data, they don't start there. It's how theories are formed and how progress is made... through analysis and consensus. But it's always the loud minority that seems to get all the attention, so keep screaming your crap and more people will believe you. Congrats. You win.
angstboy 3 years ago
Oh yeah, well you're ugly.
libsarerdumb 3 years ago
You're a big winner. YOU WIN!
angstboy 3 years ago
LOL, where can you find 22,000 "scientists" without PhDs? Are they grad students or something? What a crock of shit.

Outstanding job. Great to see a city official with a sense of humor. And very educational...I guess.

I was also wondering about all of the "legitimate science." Because there's actually legitimate science to prove global warming is a natural climate phase of the Earth, and there's also legitimate science that says the Earth is actually cooling right now. Either way, it's safe to agree that there is NOT sufficient evidence to justify a huge taxation on the American people.

chadrob30 3 years ago

Pavel1234 3 years ago
Oh really? Are you a climatologist? No? Then no one cares about your opinion an the authenticity of global warming.
Great commercial.
Maddimus 3 years ago
No. I'M not. Are you? No? Then no one cares about YOUR opinions on the subject either. You don't have to be an expert in a particular subject to understand its implications. If you want to continue your path of belief-driven ignorance about the possible ramifications of climate change, be my guest. Just know you're lack of knowledge about the legitimate science makes you wrong... no matter what you believe about the environment.
angstboy 3 years ago
Before you go trumpeting the 'actual science', you might want to consider the scientific arguments and facts contradicting the global warming argument - or would those truths be inconvenient for Al Gore and yourself? Wank.
mikestatic1 3 years ago
I have considered them, and I don't give two craps what Al Gore has to say. I can tell he's an extremist because I'm not a simpleton dupe, and I've never seen his propaganda film. I get my information from scientific journals and base my opinions on that. I don't believe in the extremist view, but I'm also not so ignorant to believe that human beings don't have an impact on a system of which they are a part. Don't assume I'm a "wank" simply because I don't dismiss "climate change" out of hand.
angstboy 3 years ago 2
This is like Napolean Dynamite. You either get it or you don't. I loved it.
zoepastor 3 years ago
Funny video! If Global Warming predictions are correct, the water levels would RISE to the point where Ocean City would be washed away LONG before the ocean evaporated. If they were taking a shot at Global Warming, they did it in the most stupid way possible... but it's still a damn clever commercial!
angstboy 3 years ago
Unfortunately, there won't be any global warming. Didn't Al Gore tell you that the average temperature has actually fallen since 1991? He didn't? Why ever wouldn't he?
sethmoyer 3 years ago
Obviously this video being posted on FauxNews has led to a drooling mass of climate change-deniers dropping in here to leave comments. The video is not saying global warming doesn't exist. If anything it ACKNOWLEDGED global warming, it just said that the boiling away of the oceans had nothing to do with that phenomenon.
