U guys r freaking morons. Belly dancing is part of our culture. Hello dumb asses the tabla drum is in all Arab music so if belly dance is not our culture then why is tabla beats in it? Morons! Those girls weren't naked at all! A man can sleep around but these girls r hoes cuz they belly danced? Really
For those of you who think this is not from Arab culture, you need to read some books. Belly dancing is one of the oldest, most exotic dances of all time. Belly dancing was originated from Ancient Babylon in southern Iraq then spread to the rest of the Middle East.
The ones with low self-esteem are the girls here in America who dance half naked in music videos! SO, this is an oriental dance which originated from the Arabs! SO STOP BEING JEALOUS!
i think they are some so called "arab-american" hoes doing the dance. i encountered them some are far worse than american girls with low self worth in trying to fit in
you've encountered some arab-american females and passed your judgment on them. naturally, they aren't all going to possess the same personalities as one another. i know a few of these girls, and they aren't what you speak of.
but yeah, i'm done comment-debating. have fun with your views
Just because they are Arabs does not mean they have to be all strict about what they have to do. Be a litlle more liberal and spice up your life a bit instead of disagreeing with every positive comment on this video.
you guys...come on! Belly dance is also part of our culture, it's an elegant form of DANCE they did an amazing job with the belly dancing AND the dabkeh! smallah 3leykon!
This was at George Mason University, fairfax VA, this is great actually, in my days there our dabkeh was good, but they spent alot more time good job guys and gals!
i give you maddd probs!!! Mashallah......im just wonderiin sinse u guys r alreadii performs; if u wanna perform in my brothers weddin!! just message me
Wow. THis was probably one of the best dabke's I've seen in a while. I think the belly dancing could have been taken out because the dabke was SOOOO much better but i understand that it was a last minute thing. The music, the clothing, the choreography, it was all wonderful! Keep it up! Seriously, where did you guys learn it? It's as good as the dabkes in the Middle East!
Is it just me who think the belly dancing part was better than dabke?! The girls did a great job. And yes, belly dancing is a part of our culture we shouldn't be ashamed of it!
No, 'belly dancing' isn't part of our culture, the name itself sounds nasty and degrading. The correct arabic term is raks sharqi. Check out my videos if you'd like to know what I'm talking about. This looks more like stripping without the taking off the clothes part. It is not a good representation of our culture. The dabke was better because at least it's done the right way!
gypsy8522 your a true gypsy lol. 1st of all it does not matter what the belly dancing is called and it is from the Mid-East because it's part of our Arab culture that takes place in Asia, Africa, and parts of Eastern Europe. So my point is it isnt a big deal.
The costuming and some of the moves in the beginning are not suitable for a cultural show. Belly dance isn't about sleazy bodies, sloppy arms, and shaking one's ass throughout the entire song. You'd think they'd at least dance WITH the music! Please next time hire some Egyptian girls to dance for you cause the "belly dancing" was a disgrace. The dabkeh was really good though.
I agree with you. As a matter of fact, a few of the girls performing would've preferred if there was no bellydancing at all. The choreographer wasn't really prepared for bellydancers, but they joined the group and she had no choice but to throw together a quick routine at the beginning for them.
oh i thought the title said debkeh, i guess i read bellydancing wrong. oh wait it does say debkeh! this is embarassing. how often do women do bellydancing in public in falasteen?
I think it's pretty obvious that the girls bellydancing for 2 out of 10 minutes aren't the ones doing debkeh, doesn't take a rocket scientist. I updated the description for people too slow to figure that out.
BTW you guys did extremely well and it was a great performance. Keep up the good work. If any of you guys move down to Corona/Riverside California you got to let me know ;)
The reason why WE don't have anything like that because the Arabs we have living in the Riverside/Fullerton area don't participate and take time to help out with events.
The performance was put on by the Arab Student Association, which represents *all* arabs. Some arabs requested to bellydance in the performance as it is part of *their* culture and, though it may not have fit in with the culture of all the arabs/performers on stage, they were still able to partake in a segment of the performance as they are also arabs.
