  • Bob Seger can still rock [he just played Cleveland in May] but for some reason from 1975 on he decided to focus mostly on ballads-----and her certainly made a LOT of money by doing so.

  • This song is gravely underrated. Should have been much more popular back in the day.

  • Is "Lenny Johnson" on the B side of this?

I've searched for both songs for months.....Thanks for posting this.

  • How vastly superior the Bob Seger System and Bob Seger and the Last Heard records are to Seger's later work. If he believes that his later work outdoes records like this one, then his priorities are a bit mixed up, to put it mildly.

  • @MikeBlitzMag Yeah, I was done with Seger by NightMoves. The Silver Bullet Bland just didn't touch this stuff.

  • his later work sucks sadly how it went from this 2 garbage we'll nva know

  • So GREAT!!!

  • crank this song up and crack open a cold one.

  • Hell, yes!!! A great, feel-good song. I can't believe such great music has been buried for so long. Thanks for posting!! Seger should be proud of all of his albums, especially the early ones he doesn't care for himself.

  • you tube fingertips you sum bitch fochem easy axe yelloworangeknife haaaaaaaaaaa

  • Did the drummer of System do anything else, he's got a great powerful drum sound. I'm just getting into 60s garage rock.

  • I recall reading somewhere that Bob Seger does not think highly of some of his early stuff, and therefore that is why it has never come out on CD. As for the Cameo-Parkway stuff, a couple of his songs came out on a C-P box set that was released a few years ago, including a Christmas song.

  • Great song!! A damn shame it's not available in stores. Seger should be proud of this early work (as well as just about all of his work, I think). Thanks for sharing this!

  • What every happened to "Ivory" on the Seger System album. It was incredible?

  • Around 1971, when Bob Seger was in a professional slump, I saw him singing at a night club on Ohio State Univ. Campus. I think it was only 3 or $4 bucks to get in.

  • I actually have this entire album "Noah" on 8 track tape. I have an old Zenith stereo and I actually cranked up this tape not too long ago and listened to the whole thing - this stuff was really ahead of it's time for that time period - great stuff! Bob Seger's early stuff was amazing - I have a couple of reel to reel tapes of his "Bob Seger & The Last Herd" days too. Thanks for posting this so others can hear it for themselves!

  • I must admit, Seger's early music was just great. Especially "Heavy Music" (which is on the Smokin' OP's CD as a bonus track) and "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man". I actually have the CD of the latter title! Can you believe those two songs finished in the top 20 on the WKNR Detroit year-end list? Seger's songs were higher "To Sir With Love", "Ruby Tuesday", "People Got to Be Free", and "Love Child" respectfully...and he had not YET had a nationally hit song!

  • Thanks for the flip side--sunshine--man i was lookin for this for many years _--------------ILOVE YOU!!

  • Why on earth doesn't Capitol put early Bob Seger (pre Smokin' OP's) tracks out on CD???

  • Early Bob Seger material is legal mess. I doubt it will ever be resolved. Too bad great stuff.

  • Part of that mess is because one of his early labels was Cameo-Parkway (which went broke and became the dreaded ABKCO).

Hopefully Jody Klein (son of the now-ailing Allen Klein) will let this stuff out on CD soon.

  • It shall be resolved on the 50th anniversary of the music's release date in Europe. Unlike the USA, they have a strict 50 year time limit on copyright in most European countries. Little Richard, Chuck Berry, etc, already entering public domain over there. Hopefully there'll still be physical media to import from those countries in 10 to 15 years when Seger's out of print works go public domain over there.
