  • dear friend

i have trek madone 5.2 and i got crack i really dont know how to fix it

  • @aiboldayev

Check out my tutorial "Carbon Fiber Bike Repair 2- Tape Wrap Alternative" it's on my channel. I'd post a link but the comments wont let me. If you're interested in doing the repair yourself- It's a fairly simple process. If you need some help send me an email or youtube PM.

  • winning! u just saved a ton of people thousands of dollars!

  • i cant seem to find a carbon fiber powder distributor here in the USA. can you help me.

  • @lukey4

It's not carbon fiber powder it's just graphite powder. Look for West Systems 423 or do a search on Ebay for "graphite powder" and you can usually find it for about $15 per pound- 1 lb will last you a long time.

If you want you can make your own filler by taking some scrap carbon fiber tow and chopping it up into really small pieces. It will take a while to chop it up but it will save you a few bucks. It's a bit harder to work with but makes a really good filler.

  • Great video, awesome! I was very impressed, where can i obtain the material you use to fix carbon fiber?

  • @lukey4

I got my carbon fiber from CJ Composites on ebay their CJ epoxy is really Resin Research epoxy re-branded and they sell it in small quantities. You can also find small remnant pieces of carbon fiber at decent prices if you search on ebay. Otherwise, there are a ton of places you can get carbon fiber and epoxy from.

  • hope your friend took you out to a big juicy steak dinner.

  • @WhiteGravey

LOL! That actually sounds really good right now. I love my steak med rare with a mixture of Heinz 57 and A1 Sauce. Though we didn't have steak, my friend did invite us over for a BBQ- Nothing like good friends and good times.

  • You are a fkn BEAST !!!

  • Mark, hi, I am from Italy; just wanted to tell you your video is great. What is the vacuum you used? Is it expensive ? Where did you get it?

  • @tamarama08

The vacuum system is a Gast 5.5cfm pump with the EVS Auto Cycling Kit from Veneer Supplies. I think after the pump, kit, wood, pipe, etc. it came out to about $550. I do a lot of projects with my pump. However, you can get a decent pump for around $150. An alternative to the pump, if you're fixing a bike, is the tape wrap method that cost like $6 for the roll of tape. I'm almost done with a tape wrap write-up on the site and I'll see about posting the link in the description. Thanks

  • That vid was fantastic

  • Mark,

Great video! Was coming home from a ride. Had my bike in the back of my truck tied down with a bungy cord, with a carpet cut under it for protection. Bad move. Wind caught the carpet and the light bike almost blew out of the truck.

Damaged the top tube much like in your video.

    Really bummed out.

Need to find a person near Chicago with your skills.

    Thanks

    Mike

  • @213DOGFA

Dang that sucks! If you can't find anyone, it's really not that hard to do yourself (although the majority of experts would disagree we me on that). I just did a toptube fix on a Super-six with a tape wrap instead of a vacuum bag and it worked out great. I'll post the fix on my website soon. Good luck.

  • @TheProjectJunkie1

Mark, you know with your video I think I could do it, but probably with a tape wrap. The vacuum bag looks a little hairy. Can't wait to see your video on it! Hey, just want to say you have the demeaner and delivery of person people can relate to. Thank you for the help! Mike

  • @213DOGFA

Thanks for the kind words. I wasn't panning on doing a video for the wrap because it's really just tightly wrapping tape around the tube/carbon fiber. I'll post the pictures and explanation on my site once I've got them done. If you decide to do the repair yourself let me know if you have any questions and I'll help you out the best I can.

    -Mark

  • @213DOGFA

I just finished uploading the tape wrap videos. Sorry it took so long. I ran into a few problems and had to re-shoot some stuff. Anyway, the videos are on my channel so check them out.

  • Amazing job

And by the way you got paint in the bottom bracket

  • @xyz1000125

LOL- Talk about attention to detail.

Interestingly enough there was already paint in the bottom bracket before I did anything. This frame doesn't have a threaded bottom bracket shell so I figured it didn't matter much if I added a bit more :) In reality the paint I used cleaned up easily with some Acetone. I took the final video before the final cleaning.

  • Nice job.
