I'm going to vote for lycans not because I think people have constantly gave vampires more of the better powers that they think vampires deserve: transform into mist, hypnosis, levitation, control of some animals. The Lycans just didn't have Bram Stoker on their side. If they had Lycans would have: run up walls, superstrength, complete transformation control, control all dogs and wolves, super senses, ability to induce panic and fear, regeneration and very long life spans.

Like hell I'd let the current batch of vampires have my vote. Sparkles? That alone should kill the genre. Yes, Anne Rice had some good stuff going for the mythos, adding a sense of gravitas against the feral instincts of the wulfkinder, but modern media either allows them to shine only as an opponent, while working with lycanthropes, you can allow the player to understand the hopelessness of being trapped in a feral mind, or the ascension to power in a community dedicated to nostalgia.

Werewolves have had there various mythos as well as vampires. In fact, there are tons of shape shifting creatures out there, fuck even Dracual can shape shift. I choose Werewolves, because there are various mythologies of the Lycan out there, and the epic visual of the Wolfman is so iconic, it deserves to be mentioned. They also have the fury, regeneration, and the fact that they themselves are tortured souls gives them an added layer in character.
