"It's not like Majora's Mask was to Zelda." Few people realize that MM was deliberately made to not be another OoT; that would be boring. It heavily influenced the much improved designs in later Zelda games such as Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. MM was a revolution and in my opinion, a better experience than the linear games that preceded it. I think people who moan about it never really gave it a chance and expected it to be a re-run of something that Miyamoto knew was going to get old fast.

wtf ? it is more like the wind waker of metroid. my list of the zelda games: 1. Twilight Princess 2. Link to the Past 3. Ocarina of Time 4. Majora's Mask 5. Link's Awakening 6. Wind Waker metroid: 1. Prime 1 2. Fusion 3. Prime 3 4. Other M 5. Super, SNES (very good, but HIGHLY overrated) 6. Prime 2 that's why I think it's the wind waker of the series.

The reviewer is obviously reading off a script. His voice is monotone and at points you can hear him continue onto the next line. Samus can't turn back because her ship is damaged...Also, the review mismatches the Temple Ground and the Agon Wastes. He also says you're looking for morphball, sorry but you automatically get that item in Echoes. Takes a little bit before he gets into actual feeling for the game.
not through my first playtrhough obviously lol. i noted every tactic i could do through the first play through. if i wasn't satisfied with how i did a boss i reloaded the game and did it again, the game was so enjoyable as to not make it boring every time i did this. then on the 2nd playtrhough i did the no death run :)
i did a no death run of this game a few years ago. seriously try it. it adds A LOT to the atmosphere of playing it and quite frankly is one of the best videogame experiences i've ever had.

I love this game, its so dark and atmospheric, im playing through it again to get all the energy tanks and upgrades, but i doubt i could get through it without dying at least once, this will be my second playthrough, on my first i couldnt beat emperor ing, i didnt have enough energy tanks or ammo expansions, but this time im gonna get all that stuff so i can kill the bastard!!!

@ouch11 Yeah, i watched a review of it the other day, and it does look good, but one thing that i saw that i think is REALLY lame about it is that samus has to wait for that adam guy to give her permission to use the grapple beam.
I mean, what the fuck is that about? we spent the last two games being able to use the grapple beam as much as we want when we find it, and NOW we have to wait for some guy to tell us that we are allowed to use it?!?!?!

I think this was my least favorite in the Prime triology, but nonetheless still a pretty good game. Dark Aether just got too annoying. If you could get the light suit way earlier it would probably been more fun
I have been playing through this game, got to the final boss. And this game is nothing short of beautiful, intense, mesmerising, and just a fantastic level of depth that more games like these should invest in.

Many say Metroid for the new gen consoles are bad because they didn't capture the escence of Super Metroid or Metroid for NES. But if you were a designer like me, you would see how much effort, detail and exquisite design on the enemies and how organic yet modern or mechanical they look, you wouldn't think that way. I think that yes, maybe they went too far by making it a FPS and they don't look alike, but it still has that Spirit, that feeling of old school Metroid games and that's what matters
@SoraXKokiri I think the metroid prime games are unique, they didn't just make a game and slap the metroid tital on the box art, they dove deep into the world and created awesome and unforgetable games...
I just got the game recently and i completed prime(1) i was sort of sad to see that there were no multiplayer kind of thing to it like a puzzle that you had to shoot a couple things simotaniously or that you didn't have a power up for that kind of thing. But if i had to rate both together out of 20% i would give it an 18.98%

Metroid Prime 1 has the best soundtrack of all the metroids. Especially the song that plays in the Tallon overworld after about a third of the way into the game. I think it starts after you finish the first stage of Phendrana Drifts. Ending song is just as incredible.
This is one of my favorite video reviews of all time. It really showcases what makes ign truly special. Sure it may be a bit biased, but the level of enthusiasm and personality make their videos very engaging, but at the same time informative.
I watched this review before playing the game and didn't get half of what this guy was on about. Now after putting in a solid 10 hours or so (I'm looking for the fourth temple key) I'm recognising all the areas of gameplay from this review, though I'm playing the Wii version. I think its a great game and probably better than the original prime though not by much.
i agree with this review 100% i have the wii version, and i love it. except i've never tried the multiplayer (don't think it looks that good, though, it looks like a ripoff of goldeneye's multiplayer)
@nerftendo005 thats pretty much it, man. it seems like prime one came out, then halo copied it but added multiplayer, then prime 2 came out and copied halo's multi player. it was a failed goldeneye copy, so they didnt include it in prime 3.
@foolintherain100 halo didn't copy metroid. halo's single-player experience is nothing like metroid's. halo is an action-based fps, while metroid prime is an adventure game based on exploring, backtracking, and puzzles just set in first-person

i beat this game a couple years ago yet i still shudder at the thought of the dark world. and why didnt you show the one save area in the sanctuary fortress where its on a ledge overlooking well..... im still not quite sure what all that is below you (the rest of Aether? there were a lot of lights so i doubt it since i dont remember seeing a lot of lights like that in torvus bog) but it looks amazing
There's just something about Prime 2 that wasn't as immersive as the first. I think the main problem is Dark Aether. I mean who really wants to explore the same areas twice?
I'd say Prime 1,2 & 3 are all on par with each other they have their pro's and own con's:
Prime 1: revolutionized the Metroid series and was just fantastic. Can't really think of a con.
Prime 2: Better graphics, effects and just one of the best I've played. Mind you I'm not just looking at the story. I'm looking at the big picture. Apart from the same item collecting like spider ball etc.
Prime 3: Again graphics and amazing game mechanics. Just all around amazing game.
Yeah. Being told everything you have to do made it feel less of a Metroid game. Sure there was some points where you have to look yourself but you mostly didnt have to worry to much about what to do. More like fusion then I guess.

Echoes: great but i dont like the limited ammo.(understandable but i still dont like it). as for the dark world, its a love it/ hate it thing.
Corruption: lacking weapon variety, no isolation(felt like the troopers were just lazy). great scenery but still lacking
I Actually Like Metroid Prime 2: Echoes better than Metroid Prime like seriuously Prime 2 has better graphics and plus in my opinion is way easier to play maybe it's because I beat Prime 1 already but to me the whole Trilogy is some of the greatest games of all time overall the Metroid franchise is top 5 to me
I loved this game alot. At first it was hard but once i beat the first one and got the idea of the set up the second one "MP2E" was a walk in the park. The music in my opinion was very nice and had a nogalistic style to it.
Super Metroid's music was way better. I wish that Nintendo did not sell their license to RetroStudios. Also, the Prime series lacks the fast rate of missile fire seen in Super Metroid/the classic metroids. Booo for that. But still one of the best games out there nonetheless. I am a very tough critic
actually, its called Metroid Prime 2 Dark Echoes in JAPAN. everywhere else, its known as Metroid Prime 2 Echoes. there are no difference between them, just a name difference.

I prefer the original game, but this is still one of the greatest games of all time. I think the map should allow you highlight a route, so you wont be constantly going back to the map to check if you're going the right way or not.
That's what Nintendo marketing would like to tell you, but it's an FPS in every way (which is no contradiction to FPA either, a game can be both).
Take Deus Ex for example: it features just as much exploration and non-shooting element (maybe more) than Metroid Prime, yet they didn't feel the need to invent a new "genre" just to appeal to FPS-haters.
the narrator makes echoes sound like a joke... prime 2 was just as great as prime 1, and it had a chilling, darker them. I got scared when the ings attacked me in grade 4... get the prime trilogy for wii on the 24
I don't often finish Metroid Prime games because i'm creeped out by the environment, and that's a good thing. If the game reaches out to you and does that, the creators have done a good job.
i got freaked out when i was in that one dark room with all the stairs when u have to get that one visor that you can see heat with and everything poped out
I think the multiplayer is awesome. Its just that you have to play someone whos also good at the game.
And it's really hard to tell whether prime 1 or prime 2 is better.

i beat this game a couple years ago yet i still shudder at the thought of the dark world. and why didnt you show the one save area in the sanctuary fortress where its on a ledge overlooking well..... im still not quite sure what all that is below you (the rest of Aether? there were a lot of lights so i doubt it since i dont remember seeing a lot of lights like that in torvus bog) but it looks amazing

There's just something about Prime 2 that wasn't as immersive as the first. I think the main problem is Dark Aether. I mean who really wants to explore the same areas twice?

I'd say Prime 1,2 & 3 are all on par with each other they have their pro's and own con's:
Prime 1: revolutionized the Metroid series and was just fantastic. Can't really think of a con.
Prime 2: Better graphics, effects and just one of the best I've played. Mind you I'm not just looking at the story. I'm looking at the big picture. Apart from the same item collecting like spider ball etc.
Prime 3: Again graphics and amazing game mechanics. Just all around amazing game.

IMO Prime 1 is the best, followed by Echoes, and lastly Corruption.
Prime 1: Absolutely brilliant game. Like you, I can't think of a con (there are some things, but nothing major I can think about right now).
Echoes: Another amazing game. Gameplay was fantastic, and the design was awesome. Having to go to Dark Aether felt uneccesary sometimes.
Corruption: Second weakest game in the series. Still a good game. The isolation is completetly gone, and it's way too linear for me.

Yeah. Being told everything you have to do made it feel less of a Metroid game. Sure there was some points where you have to look yourself but you mostly didnt have to worry to much about what to do. More like fusion then I guess.

i agree. i think prime 1 was the best. i groaned in the phazon mines cuz of all the computers u can scan but of course the text is well written so i want to read it all.
Prime 1: cant really think of a con. every moment is a gem.
Echoes: great but i dont like the limited ammo.(understandable but i still dont like it). as for the dark world, its a love it/ hate it thing.
Corruption: lacking weapon variety, no isolation(felt like the troopers were just lazy). great scenery but still lacking

I Actually Like Metroid Prime 2: Echoes better than Metroid Prime like seriuously Prime 2 has better graphics and plus in my opinion is way easier to play maybe it's because I beat Prime 1 already but to me the whole Trilogy is some of the greatest games of all time overall the Metroid franchise is top 5 to me

I loved this game alot. At first it was hard but once i beat the first one and got the idea of the set up the second one "MP2E" was a walk in the park. The music in my opinion was very nice and had a nogalistic style to it.

I can't believe that the Japanese sold their license to an American company...one of the worst discontinuities in the history of gaming...
Metroid Prime:
Music - inferior to Metroid and Super Metroid
Missiles - way too slow compared to Super Metroid
Loading time between doors - they do load in the background, but the processor is still not fast enough sometimes creating slower gameplay...

Super Metroid's music was way better. I wish that Nintendo did not sell their license to RetroStudios. Also, the Prime series lacks the fast rate of missile fire seen in Super Metroid/the classic metroids. Booo for that. But still one of the best games out there nonetheless. I am a very tough critic

actually, its called Metroid Prime 2 Dark Echoes in JAPAN. everywhere else, its known as Metroid Prime 2 Echoes. there are no difference between them, just a name difference.

I prefer the original game, but this is still one of the greatest games of all time. I think the map should allow you highlight a route, so you wont be constantly going back to the map to check if you're going the right way or not.

That's what Nintendo marketing would like to tell you, but it's an FPS in every way (which is no contradiction to FPA either, a game can be both).
Take Deus Ex for example: it features just as much exploration and non-shooting element (maybe more) than Metroid Prime, yet they didn't feel the need to invent a new "genre" just to appeal to FPS-haters.

the narrator makes echoes sound like a joke... prime 2 was just as great as prime 1, and it had a chilling, darker them. I got scared when the ings attacked me in grade 4... get the prime trilogy for wii on the 24

Quadraxis isnt that awesome of a boss fight. It was fun and interesting, but nowhere near the best of the series like many people say.

I don't often finish Metroid Prime games because i'm creeped out by the environment, and that's a good thing. If the game reaches out to you and does that, the creators have done a good job.
