@thatwhichisgiven Right, great idea, breaking the radiation shielding on an unstable reactor, letting all that beneficial radiation flood the area and kill EVERYONE. Brilliant. After that, the Doctor would have to find a new name, because he wouldn't be the Doctor anymore.
This is still the most brilliant video tribute I have seen. I watched the confidential on the ending scene. DT did several takes, each with different emotion. When he started full out crying, I admit, I burst into tears myself. I'm so glad they didn't actually use it. I would have cried for weeks!
Who knew that sweet little old Wilfred would be inadvertently responsible for the breaking of millions of hearts across the planet?
On another note... I have a much better solution to the "get Wilf out without dying" problem: BREAK THE GLASS. You won't be touching the controls, so no radiation overload, both of you escape and we get to keep our Tenth Doctor.
The Prediction of 'he would knock four times' was regarding the Doctors death. The Doctor thought this meant his actual death (no regeneration), which is why he is so emotional here. Instead it only refered to the death of the 10th doctor
My God, how horrifying it must be to have done that ten times. I was wondering why he was so sad and upset about doing this when he could just regenerate, but then it hit me. If you could regenerate when close to death, how does he know he will. For all he knows he might not be able to regenerate and he could die this time. And everytime he does, his past life becomes a simple memory, something he knows he did, but doesn't remember it himself. No wonder every new Doctor is more angry. he must be
As he arose from the floor reveling in his victory over Rassilon he brushes himself off and thinks. "Maybe the soothsayer was wrong, I'm alive!" Suddenly he hears it, faint at first then it gets louder TAP TAP TAP TAP and as the soothsayer had said he will knock four times the doctor turns and is faced with his own morality.
Very great I originally thought the master was gonna be his downfall but this took me by surprise.
@iluvlost09 Also if you were in his position having to sacrifice your memories your being your personality to save one person when you've cone so far... Wouldn't you get pissed and angry? But he saves wilf anyway becausecits the right thing to do.
@iluvlost09 The Doctor will exist and live on. He will not. Imagine being put into another persons body with their memory but your personality and look. They no longer are the same person. By him during completely he goes through the process if complete regeneration. The emotions, feelings, and ideas of him will be lost forever. The new doctor just takes his memories almost as a guideline
@WhiteTwilight14 and @Timurv1234 It exposed him to massive amounts of radiation. Something the Master set up. One room must be occupied, so Wilf went in to release some random person earlier in the episode. It would've killed Wilf, but the Doctor, lovable idiot that he is, had to go and sacrifice himself to save the old man, even though he was obviously terrified. (I miss Ten. A lot. In case you didn't notice.)
@keymeana oh okay, i'm new to doctor who and the first episode i watched was with david (In my opinion he's the best one) i wanted to know more about the show and i found this clip. I just didn't know what happened
Each Doctor is a new stage of grief. 9 ran and ran and denied thinking about what he did. 10 was just plain angry and wrathful. 11 has been trying to make amends but seems so guilt stricken and depressed. How will the Accepting Doctor be, I wonder? If he finally accepts what he did, it will change him forever, maybe even tip him over the edge. We've already seen 10 toy with the thought of becoming a "Time God". And it's a popular trope, turn the good guy into the final bad guy.
@saeklin I have to disagree with you there. 9 didn't seem to be running so much as he wanted to move on and face the rest of what came. When he tried to kill the last Dalek, it was him trying to destroy a part of his past. 10 Wasn't as willing to kill, and in this scene, he's angry that despite all he's done, he gets screwed each time. 11 Seems depressed, yeah, but also pretty cheery, as though he wants to accept his fate. You see it in The Impossible Astronaut that he's ready to die.
can someone please tell me who the older lady in the show is?the lady has to cover her face for voting against the timelords, she pops up throughout the show.i think its donna but im not 100%.
@TheEtceteraEtcetera the script was written with and the actress was told "it's his mom" but even then our writer wont confirm it as for sure. Other ideas include somebody else he knew or maybe Susan (His Granddaughter, who stopped traveling with him wayyy back in the days of the 1st doctor)
@Jakezing Really? I thought it was a grandaughter of the woman he fell inlove during the family of blood when he was portraying a human for 3 months, one reason being because the cover of the book was a watch, which was what held the 10ths timelord capabilties at the moment.
@Jakezing Russel T Davies confirmed the woman was supposed to be The Doctor's mother in the context of the story, read his book on producing the series "The Writers Tale"
I'm only up to season 5 of Doctor Who but it doesn't feel the same without David Tennant. Miss him so much and cried my eyes out in his last episode that my eyes were puffy the next morning. I hope I get that feeling again as I watch on. Great clip.
I'm only up to season 5 of Doctor Who but it doesn't feel the same without David Tennant. Miss him so much and cried my eyes out in his last episode that my eyes were puffy the next morning. I hope I get that feeling again as I watch on. Great clip.
Something just occured to me. If the slightest touch could cause the radiation to flood into wilfs chamber, how could he knock four times on the glass?
@nisteven THE POINT IS that he will exist, BECAUSE HE REGENERATES. HE IS NOT DYING. HE CAN CHEAT DEATH. He doesn't need to talk about Wilf like that. If I heard the Doctor say that about me, especially if I admired him, especially if I knew he wasn't actually dying so he didn't HAVE to say shit like that, I would be crushed. But oh wait, I wouldn't be important, right? Only the Doctor is, oops. Even if he does commit genocide all of the time, oops. Even if he is a raging hypocrite, oops.
@nisteven As one of the doctors, might have been the 10th once said, "you die, and you watch someone else get in your shoes and continue on." sometime like that
@nisteven You explained it pretty good, though I think, personally, I could better explain it. When he says "You had to go and get stuck, oh yes. Because that is what you are, Wilfred." He's talking about Humanity in this entire scene. If you've looked through the other episodes, a lot of what he struggles with are a number of Humanity's blunders, so when he is faced with either sacrificing himself or letting one person die, he gets pissed. He didn't want to "die" like this, so he's mad.
This is such a powerful and beautiful scene. What I can't remember is the logic behind the decision to vent all of the radiation through a chamber that keeps a live occupant trapped unless another person enters the opposite booth and becomes, themselves, trapped. It doesn't look like the radiation went through both chambers and The Doctor just allowed Wilf to exit. The venting switched to follow The Doctor instead. I'll have to watch this again - not that it wouldn't be time well spent. ;)
why the hell would you ruin such a wonderful moment by adding some crappy teeny-bopper band's horrible remake of a great kate bush song to it??? FAIL!
You know, the professional writer and director of this scene did a wonderful job with it without some emo kid fucking it up.
I think it fit's the scene well, if you understand what the song means, plus they probably had to put a song on here or this video wouldn't even be up.
It's funny if you think about it. He risks his life time and time again to save billions of lives. But when it came down to it. He had to give his life to only save one life.
It's funny how they got the actor who played the policeman in the Peter Cushing's movie Version of Doctor Who's Dalek Invasion 2150 A.D to play Donna Noble's grandad.
the one problem i have with david tennant's death is that those glass control booths are not air tight. If you look at them, there's a space in between the door and the side almost all the way up and down. if he had taken a moment to think about it, he could have taken a stick, slid it into this crack and hit the button. EVERYBODY LIVES if only...
Gotta say it. This writing is so inconsistent that Tommy Wiseau himself could not have made it any worse. I mean he's throwing a huge tantrum and then... "ohai, Wifred, I'll die for you." and then all emo again.
@PoohFanGirl1990 The idea was that he was so angry and frustrated with his death, but in the end he knows he couldn't just let Wilfred die and had to sacrifice himself.
@MatOddity I know, I get where he was going with it, but I still think the writing is awkward at best. I can kind of see even Tennant being inconsistent in his performance (NOT that I don't think he's a brilliant and highly talented actor- he did his best with the script and in the hands of a worse actor it would have been a disaster). Nothing against Russel T Davies but this is not his best work. He did Eccleston's death a LOT better.
i dont know if this had already been said but it's ironic how wilfred accidentaly caused the doctor's death. he loved the doctor more than anything and he was the cause for his death that sucks.ps: david tennant is the best doctor in my opinion
The Time Lords know when it is the end. They can see set events in time...obviously this was one of them. The emotional range David Tennant had in this episode was amazing. This is a great video!
I'm not exaggerating - I am actually crying... The tenth doctor - how David brought him to life with his skills... And, when I saw that... I just lost it... That's just how good of an actor David is...
Interestingly enough, the only known regeneration to occur with just the doctor on his own was this one. All others either had people (the most being the first) or the fact we still have no idea what happened to number 8.
@hobbster39 He was told he was going to die, "they will knock 4 times" and to think you just survived what was supposed to be your death only to find out that you hadn't, and (according to the story) only have 2 more regenerations after this one (3 counting Matt), and to be able "to do SO MUCH MORE!" wouldnt you be upset? HE COULD'VE DONE SO MUCH MORE!! SO MUCH MORE!!! That makes me cry every time.
@JfernandesTV He doesn't want to die and he thinks his life is more important than Wilfred's. He doesn't want to die for just one person instead of the whole universe.
@JfernandesTV Because when he regenerates he is no longer himself, he becomes a completely different person, and if you watched the episode you'd know the end.
This scene is such a defining character moment. Any normal man might leave and he takes his place and takes all that radiation himself. The music is truly a tribute to his actions and choice.
This scene always makes me cry. David tennant just had a power, he made us love the doctor in a way none of the others ever did or ever can. Best doctor ever!
@26EMOARTLINKINPARK97 he had to open the doors to let wilfred out but when he opened them he absorbed all the radiation in the room. when he got out his hands started to glow and at the end of the episode it finally takes him over and he regenerates. i dont know if youve seen the regineration of the ninth doctor but its actually similar
I have such a hard time finding the full episodes. I love the 10th doctor. The 11th doctor acts like he's in high school and stealing his grandpa's clothes.
@whoisland It has been 11 months since I watched this and I can see what you're saying, it does fit awkwardly with this scene in parts definitely, lol (:
@MrSilverDany It controls the radiation for something. I'm a little fuzzy on it. But, after The Doctor sends the other Time-Lords back into the timelock, the radiation is overloading. Whichever room is occupied when it goes critical gets flooded with the radiation. The doctor switches with Wilfred to save him.
hey wonderful. I have this tennant trib contest going on. it is called BELTT Best Ever Loving Tennant Tribute Contest going on. u should join it with a video made specificately 4 it.

@iluvlost09 Firstly no regeneration is like dying, because the new one have the same memories yes.
However their personality is different, what they like what they dislike.
So yes it pretty much dying when he regenerates.
Secondly he saying the truth that guy is unimportant, same as you and me are unimportant in the grand scheme of things.
However some one like the doctor if he did exist could change everything.

I so hate that creators made Half-Doctor for Rose, and 10th died alone...

zd111809 6 months ago
@JfernandesTV He doesn't want to die and he thinks his life is more important than Wilfred's. He doesn't want to die for just one person instead of the whole universe.

What does David mean when he says that he cn do much or and that it's not fair? Is it because he don't want to die? Is he angry on Wilfred?
JfernandesTV 6 months ago
@JfernandesTV Because when he regenerates he is no longer himself, he becomes a completely different person, and if you watched the episode you'd know the end.

@EdenOfChaos Thank you.

This scene is such a defining character moment. Any normal man might leave and he takes his place and takes all that radiation himself. The music is truly a tribute to his actions and choice.
Blitzwaffen 6 months ago
@Blitzwaffen yea, I thought that was an amazing way to kill off his character.
But I absolutely HATE the last moment of his character "I don't want to go".
To me that felt like they really bitch slapped the character. But I guess it did make him feel more human. It still just annoys me though.

This scene always makes me cry. David tennant just had a power, he made us love the doctor in a way none of the others ever did or ever can. Best doctor ever!

I think it's better he died like that than any other way. It says a lot about his character.

3:25 what hapened to him in there?
26EMOARTLINKINPARK97 1 year ago
@26EMOARTLINKINPARK97 he had to open the doors to let wilfred out but when he opened them he absorbed all the radiation in the room. when he got out his hands started to glow and at the end of the episode it finally takes him over and he regenerates. i dont know if youve seen the regineration of the ninth doctor but its actually similar

Where's a severed Time Lord hand when you need one?

I have such a hard time finding the full episodes. I love the 10th doctor. The 11th doctor acts like he's in high school and stealing his grandpa's clothes.

David Tennant is amazing! The song fits perfectly with this (:
alindy2424123 1 year ago 28
@alindy2424123 adding the song ruined the scene. it's a horrible remake of a great kate bush song. The girl singing isn't half bad tho LOL!!!!
whoisland 3 months ago
@whoisland It has been 11 months since I watched this and I can see what you're saying, it does fit awkwardly with this scene in parts definitely, lol (:

wat does that machine do????
MrSilverDany 1 year ago
@MrSilverDany It controls the radiation for something. I'm a little fuzzy on it. But, after The Doctor sends the other Time-Lords back into the timelock, the radiation is overloading. Whichever room is occupied when it goes critical gets flooded with the radiation. The doctor switches with Wilfred to save him.
