  • How did the janitor get to be the high priest guy?

I thought the girl would be ooogly with them hiding her face, but she wasn't so bad.

  • #547

  • They had some of the best songs in the 80`s and the worst videos. That`s how you know they rocked because it`s all about the music. Best duo ever.

  • I love this song but never saw the video. I wish I hadn't.

  • John Oates rockin' the creepy 70's porn 'stashe.

  • Everything about this video and song is hilarious. First of all, the video has nothing to do with the song. Then, Oates is basically the most intense person in the world.

I love "message" songs like this from the '80's.

  • I remember thiss

  • 2:46 LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Reminds me of junior high.

  • @shanedangers - Absolutely! You described the images that always came to me when I heard this. Strange video, but what a brilliant song!

  • Don't understand the concept of the video... but this song reminds me very much of my college days in the 80's.

  • One question: What is the meaning behind The Archeology dig site? In this video, I could never figure that out. At any rate, I loved the track, and what it did represent. Nice job, guys!

  • I know the video is not great but the song is epic ..........47 ppl must be retarded

  • that was the good times.i wish i could go back to 80s

  • damnit i LOVE this song, i mean i TOTALLY LOVE it.. but the video just sux to me! It does NOT fit the lyrics to the awesome song..they should've done a video with big hair 80's girls and pretty jock boys slamming locker doors in the high school hallways, and some classmen in the bathroom like..fluffing their bangs and stuff and chicks with hair dryers, and pom poms, etc.. where's the sexualism for the lyrics??? SOMEONE MAKE A HOMEMADE VIDEO PLEASE..Cheesy OR Serious, but like i described, thx!!

  • @shanedangers

Fully agree!! Great song, naff vid!!

  • @shanedangers You said it! Not sure where the inspiration for this video came from. But yes, I say thanks as well :)

  • Epic. Timeless.

  • Music from the eighties simply is the best.

  • awesome, the first time I heard these guys on the radio I thought they were black they sang so soulful

  • Nice "All seeing Eye" Of Rah with the alien looking body lying there at 4:21 seconds... Not to mention Horned Goats and snakes...LOL, Illuminati and masonry. right in our faces even back then...

  • @vascone315 Preach lol

  • Cool song!

  • @2003DYNAWIDEGLIDE

You probably DIDN'T notice because you have dicks in your face all of the time, and are desensitized from it. From all of the dicks. In your face.

  • I think the relationship between the temple in the video and the song is the fact that Hall was studying at a university that is named Temple University.

  • Damn I love this song but that the end hall and oats kinda ruin it with there offbeat dancing lol

  • Anyone notice that Darryl Hall styled his hair after Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry movie series ?

  • @domrct I LUV Clint Eastwood & would normally find offense but...damn u made me giggle!!!

  • 1984 April date of this song Adult eduaction at Lima Peru of Daryl hall and John Oates

  • From 1981 to 1985 Hall & Oates had 6 songs reach a place in the top 50 R&B chart. Oddly, Adult Education was not one of them.

In the early/mid 80s a lot of funk-ish music crossed from the R&B chart to the US / UK pop chart. AND vice-versa.

David Bowie's "Let's Dance" got to # 14 on the US R&B chart in 1983.

U.S. Funk diva Melba Moore's "Love's Comin At Ya" reached #15 on the UK pop chart. A few more examples, the US R&B Chart: "Shock the Monkey", "Miss Me Blind".

  • You may find that it is worth the time to take a look and listen at the song lists that have been posted to Itunes Ping that meld together rhythmically & stylistically compatible early/mid 80s R&B/funk songs and early/mid 80s synth pop/new wave songs. Lots of music that was either forgotten or not ever learned of but was very enjoyable or would be very enjoyable if it was rediscovered or discovered for the 1st time by people that enjoy this type of music. People like you?

  • I have researched these music categories for the past 9 years

and I have rediscovered tunes I had forgotten about or I discovered

new tunes that totally deserved the time it took to discover them.

In Itunes Store or Itunes Ping if you use the search terms "electrofunk" (as a single word) or "80s funk" the search result shall produce several lists that have "electrofunk" or "80s funk" in the playlist name in the "Playlist" category at the low left corner of the search result.

  • just pause at 0:15

is that a penis????? and a random hole a.k.a VAGINA- hall & oates were dirty....XD

  • It's called "Blue-Eyed Soul". :)

  • when i was younger the lyrics had little meaning to me but when l got older it made sense. classic music.

  • Ok, so there was a light up dick at about 0:14 right?

  • @FullmoonPB OK! You would be the only one that noticed it!

  • @FullmoonPB it is ADULT education, man!!!! hahahahahahaha

  • so much cheese!

  • I like 0:35 Mr . Porn star lol and yes black peeps that go to " hall n oats " love there jams.

  • Did you know..... that Hall & Oates were inspired by a mailbox the two shared while room mates to name their band "Hall & Oates"?

  • o:33 is epic face, haha

  • this is my fave H&O tune!

  • everything was so much better back in the 1980s now you get crap artists like akon, lady gaga, usher, bieber

  • Boy, how relevant is this today?! I'll always love Hall and Oates. They had a great sound that was embraced by every culture. I appreciate them for the soulful lyrics and the passion in which they performed. Can you say Classy???

  • It doesn't get any better than Daryl Hall & John Oates

  • Props to Hall and Oates for their collective body of work, however watching this video makes me think that John Oates was the by-product of morphing Prince and Freddie Mercury, and displayed a bit more intensity in this clip than warranted.

Another classic Hall and Oates tune, the post-apocalyptic "Beyond Thunderdome" in an Egyptian Tomb production design although in vogue at the time, did a disservice to the profoundness of the lyrics.

  • They could have made a better video that accompanied the song. The lyrics in this song are so accurate about high school. And no, I didn't have a terrible expierence in high school. H&O, the best!

  • dont get better than this x

  • Daryl and John hit #8 in Billboard, 4-7-84. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • HALL&OATES HATED EACHOTHER!!!BUT THEY HAD THE SAME IDEA,S ABOUT MUSIC!!

  • I think this song really nails the pettiness and absurdities of high school. So many high schoolers think that life revolves around their little teen social problems, until the doors of your high school swing open for the last time and the real world is in your face. Been there, and the transition is a bucket of cold water in the face.

  • Is that Burt Young?

  • Every time I hear this track I immediately think of my first international flight from Adelaide to London in 1984. I was wedged into a 747 window seat and unable to easily get past the sleeping passengers in the seats next to me. I resigned myself to the tedium and just listened to the music channel for 20 or so hours. Adult Education cycled through numerous times and provided welcome relief. Thank you Darryl and John.

  • dang, that Daryl Hall had some great hair back then.

  • I guess the bodyless guitar never caught on. Ive seen it in 2 different 80s videos tho. This & Genesis. :)

  • Blue eye soul.These guys.Michael McDonald,Steve Winwood just to name a few.

  • the 80s where bad, music will never be the same this junk on the radio now is a joke

  • 80's-gasm

  • What the hell is going on in this video??

  • @tubeyhamster

    Adult education. What else?

  • Satanism

  • In the 80s I liked these guys. In the 90s not so much, wasn't really cool to be into them then. Not until now as an adult am I really respecting their sound & what they did for the music industry.

  • 0:33 epic face

  • @GSeward LOL

  • @GSeward john's?

  • They had so many hits ,starting in the 70`s.Hands down the most underrated group of all time!

  • Eerie, fascinating song.

  • I played this album to death, literally, went through 3 copies. Loved this song, but never ever understood this video on any level, I had this compilation VHS (ha! VHS!) of all the vids for every song on the album. Don't get it alt ALL! That aside, Daryl Hall is SO UNDERATED as a singer songwriter it's criminal.

  • I like this song... but why is Oates wearing a jacket and no shirt?

  • @childofthemarshalsea: QUOTO 100%!

  • IMO, one of their best and most underrated songs. Didn't get alot of playing time either on the radio or MTV (back when MTV was still a killer station). I'm not a huge fan of H&O but when I bought this album, I played this song over and over again.

  • Awesome song, brings back memories

  • I enjoyed Your short Movie

  • I wasn't such a big fan back in the day. I was a metal head. It wasn't until I got older that I started listening to the groove these guys wrote into their music. A lot of blues/funk in there. I've gained a whole new respect for their talent.

  • Always did love this song, but what was the video about? What was the deal with alter and whatnot? Still Rockin though!!!

  • @priceyhabits not much difference! check your history books!

  • Oates is havin' a party over there.

  • This song epitomized my junior year of high school back in '84. Gotta love the Temple U. boys from Philly!

  • Hall is such a spazz when he tries to dance

    best singer on earth though

oates -- best paid background vocalist/rhythm guitarist in pop music.

  • I'd to give some respect to Oates' work as well, which gets overshadowed by Hall's great voice. Some of my favorite H&O songs are the lesser played ones by Oates (moreso early in their career than later).

  • for white boys, they have soul, rhyme and rythm...a rare breed

  • Hall & Oates are like a great bottle of wine. These guys and their songs just get better and better with time. I wonder if either of them have ever woken up and said to themselves "I think I'll intentionally write a crappy song today just to see what it feels like." One of the best duos of all time.

  • Short haired girl in this vid???? wow

  • @MegaSweetMagic could use atleast 30 more pounds on her

  • Great song! Hilarious video!

  • @LeticiaRhodesTaylor

    Y si! Muito bom!

  • Most black people including myself LOVED Hall and Oates! Trust me when I saw Music really has no color!!!

  • I need to find this tape because I have it somewhere and I need to Find it. It might be on record from Big Bam Boom or on tape.

  • This Song is Awesome from Hall and Oates! Pretty Quick my Current Girlfriend and I will be doing a lot of Adult Education and we can't wait!!!

  • @PatrickIsActuallyGay I don't hate gays, I just hate people like you, that don't have respect for others, this is a public channel, might kids can read your disgusting comments. I'm sorry for your petty life, you better go find attention somewhere else.

  • @musiknrod

    I'm terribly sorry :(

PLEASE don't hate me, because I am a good person. I apologize for the misunderstanding, and I sent You a friend request and suscribed ! COOL, Because i am a HUGE Hall & Oates fan myself !

I'm also into KNIGHTRIDER, BAYWATCH and Will & Grace, Sex And The City (A LOT o cute guys ),

Plus THE L WORD, on cable !

But my ABSOLUTE favorite is GHOSTBUSTERS !

Part 3 is coming in 2012, in 3-D ! sharkaranyang and I are VERY excited about that ! We'll be going together !

  • Ya, I'm BACK!!!

  • LOVE this video and song!

  • My pelvis gets tired listening to this...funky.

  • Reminds me of my Army German language class 1984...

  • I wonder if they made a remix ? Because I want my adult education a little different version ;)

    Cute song....Fun to remember !

  • Whoa!!! Memories!!!!

  • Oates seems confident...

  • even black friends of mine say that those white boys can jam.hell of a complent if you ask me.go hall and oates

  • @NATIONJ Yep! They are straight blue eyed soul !!! My dad is real old school and not a fan of white artist but loves Hall and Oates!

  • @NATIONJ Except Oates is black, which explains their jamminess. :)

  • @SanchoKobe

    simpleton...

john oates isn't black. his mother is italian, and his father is of spanish descent.

  • @Dozerr1 BAD FORM THERE MAN. RACISM?

  • @NATIONJ They had just as big of a black following as whites. They were really blue eye soul in the 70`s.Sarah smile, charted higher on the soul charts then the pop charts.

  • @NATIONJ THIS SISTA COULDN'T AGREE W/YOU MORE. THOSE WHITE BOYS CAN JAM. LOVE HALL & OATES. THAT'S REAL TALENT RIGHT THERE!!!!!

  • @NATIONJ i agree

  • Totems, art and other symbols are so "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" (although this was released the year before?). I half expected to see Tina Turner dance out onto the stage as Auntie Entity, looking for her "Raggedy-man".

  • @roadwarr Hahahaha!! THATS FUNNY!!!!

  • Early 1984 listening to this and other hits in KS-103 FM in San Diego! The Good Old Days!

  • @THX1205

You're ABSOLUTELY right about that !

They also play this song on the radio, here in Galt !

Hey, I sent You a friend invite ! San Francisco is actually NOT too far from Galt !

Maybe we can meet up one of these weekends ! sharkaranyang is NOT the jealous type, that's why I'm very HAPPY to be romantically involved with him, bro ! So DON'T WORRY, there's NO Bi-Sexual Boyfriend drama around here :)

I'm NOT wearing a shirt right now, bro !

    XOXOXO

    Patrick

    >.<

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • I want daryl hall in my hotel room one more time.sshh

  • @davandk :

Well, I was a kid when "it" came out, and now that I'm older I'm finding that my memory does indeed play tricks on me...almost like I'm from a very, very similar parallel universe ;)

So, this "mystery video" I'm thinking of may be a completely different song, or even a completely different band!!

  • @gr8grfx You too, huh? Sometimes I honestly wonder if I've woken up in a slightly altered universe.

  • such a dope song.

  • Wasn't this the second version? The less "controversial" one? I seem to recall a version of this song that had Daryl and John hanging out in a High School with all sorts of scantily clad High School Cheerleaders. They pulled it and replaced it with this one (of course, now that original video isn't anything compared to a Britney Spears video in terms of controversy.)

  • @gr8grfx dunno, but now I wanna see that one!

  • What's up with the nake guy? Dumb!

  • @zrx12gs650g HE NEEDED REAL ADULT EDUCATION! GET IT? OH WOW!

  • One the greatest songs out of the 80s

  • Girl in this video?????? Wow...and WOW

  • Yes, the video is pretty campy--but Hall & Oates never hesitated to make fun of their own videos...and the song is fantastic. As I recall, they taped this in an abandoned bread factory--trivia I remember from my MTV days!

  • Anni 80.Top.

  • Love the song, but.....is this how its life is suppose to be after high school? If so i think i'm just gonna stick to wanting to be in high school.

  • Hall looks like Beavis. Oates looks like Baba Booey.

  • Comment removed

  • I'll be damned if Oates dose anything in this video besides look really angry and dance while he swings that thing around. Hall was way cooler and the better half of that duo.

  • @JMMBenson Most comments i look at, going back quite a ways, say great song, doofy video. That's what I think as well. It's one of those great, timeless songs. The vid looks like it was thrown together on some old Indy Jones movie set.

  • @JMMBenson are you drunk

  • @darthsasuke554 only slightly, why? You beg to differ with my observation.

  • I love this song. i rock it in the 80s, to this song.

  • @Elisabeth 1903 Well, you better put some ketchup on that shoe, because that's not the guys from Chic. I can't exactly tell you who it is, but I can tell you who it's not. I did a little research online because your comment made me curious. I saw the personnel that played on Rock and Soul Pt. 1 and none of those guys' names were mentioned. I can see how you could think it was them. This song does have that Chic, Powerstation sound.

  • I'll eat my shoe if it's not Nile Rodgers, Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson (guitar, bass and drums) of Chic!

  • I WAS THE 1000TH LIKE!! LOL

  • @boogie602 What a distinction!

  • @Alikah1 don't take this away from me...lol

  • awesome awesome ! imagine some new pop band trying to do it this well ! haha

    watch my vids

  • another good stocker song. . . the 80s were full of them. I think we were all obsessed

  • I wish I could be like Daryl Hall, Musical talent and all.

  • OMG! lets not bring justin beiber in every song on youtube. Jeez. -.-

  • Man I miss MTV!!!!!!!

  • @go339go

    Me, too, dude!!

  • @go339go MTV isn't Music Television Anymore. They NEED 2 change their call letters. I was in front of My TV when the very 1st video was EVER played on MTV. Those were the Dayz,....*smiling*

  • @TrgdyAnn Yea that was 1979, yes those were great times!!!!!!

  • @TrgdyAnn I lie,it was 1981 I looked it up!!!!!!!!

  • @go339go In 1981 I was in the 7th grade,....*giggling*

  • @TrgdyAnn In 1981 was the year before I got married, and still married to the same wonderful women after 28 years!!!!!

  • @go339go Congratulations! I have been with TrgdyMan 17yrs Strong!....*smiles*

  • @TrgdyAnn Congratulations to you as well !!!!!

  • @TrgdyAnn Me too -- Video Killed the Radio Star!! :)

  • @Paulajoe 'The Buggles', Yes. Those were the Dayz. I LOVED 'Headbangers Ball' on Saturday Nite too!

  • @TrgdyAnn Amen to that!!!

  • Aww, let Oates sing!

  • i think daryl hall is so sexy.

  • @berlynn2 he is and everyone with a brain knows that!!!! sexy beast...& tht hair...mmmmmmmmmmm delicioso

  • @berlynn2

    more than justin beiber?

  • Adult Education?

    Oh, yeah!

    As if....

  • Very creative video, but it's the SONG that rules!

  • This video has nothing to do with the song's subject matter

  • To anyone who watches Glee...don't you think it's time for a Hall & Oates Episode?!?!?!?!?!? Us fans should do something about this dilemma!!!
