  • @1223tool, The sax player is the late, great Charles Miller. He sang lead on WAR's song LOWRIDER. Peace.

  • @0oTHEJACKo0, Hi, that is Lonnie Jordan. Here's a music fact that some people may not know: WAR and Eric Burdon were the last musicians to jam with the late great Jimi Hendrix the night before he died. Peace.

  • HELL ya.

  • if Joe Cocker and Jim Morrison had a love child it would be Burdon. i like the fact that he got the Cosby Jazz Band to back him up too.

  • Man WAR lays some of the tightest groves ever, and put Eric Burdon on vocals! So funky!!

  • Ooooa yeah!

  • samuel l. jackson on sax!

  • Thanks for the soul recharge!!!!!! Most amazing.......

  • Ball - tearer!!!

  • It's really too bad all this obscure footage can't be all pulled together for a prototype film documentary on the history of the band WAR. Too many hurdles as to copyright and legal issues would bog this down for years. But someone should step up to the plate and pitch the idea anyway. We're all getting old fast and this should be documented. Everyone else (read: other well-known bands) have their stories out there...why not WAR ? Jerry Goldstein take note ! The fan's are hungry...well ?

  • @richardvollin This really needs to happen. Maybe first a screenplay about the Burdon's joining of war and how it all ended. I'm going to take to my agent ...

  • @richardvollin Hell yeah!!!

  • @richardvollin Agreed Richard, absolutly true words....

  • Harmonica player has the biggest White Dude Fro I have ever seen.

  • @jockojonson17, that would be the greatest harmonica player ever, Mr. Lee Oskar. Peace.

  • sexy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I guess I have to put in my two cents. I hate it when we have to get a lecture whenever anyone anywhere says he/she prefers another band more than the Beatles. Sorry, I do not care that the Fab Four wrote more songs, is more popular, have a bigger influence on other bands, etc., Eric's voice speaks to my heart, no one in the Beatles can move me this much.

  • @freudianslumber

    right!!!

  • is that ICE TEA? PEPSI? hes drinkin

  • great

  • perfect frontman excellent recopilation my friend

    congratulations

  • POPACELLI...your musical ignorance is astounding! The Beatles are to rock-n-roll what the Hope Diamond is to precious stones. How DARE you! Damn...

  • @pscotmo Oh my good person! The Beatles may have been a wonderful phenomenon, writing and performing beautiful music, however, Burdon is another genre entirely! You cannot really compare the two. Burdon is in a league of his own, one of the best soulful sounds of that decade along with Gary Brooker from Procul Harum, Steve Winwood from Spencer Davis Group, etc. Give them a listen and I think you'll know why Popacelli said that.

  • @gudgurlmolly I did not compare any one to the other. Maybe you need to take reading comprehension classes. I made an accurate statement on a negative comment written by a musical ignoramus. Having been a working classic rock muscian for 30 years, from Maine to Florida to California, I probably have worn out more copies of everyone you mentioned than you ever will. The only reason ANYONE would call The Beatles "overrated" is pure musical stupidity and ignorance. Their catalogue is untouchable.

  • @pscotmo Gee, sorry. No need for a put down! Obviously, with your vast experience and knowledge of music from one end of the country to the other, or, is it three ends of the country? or no, not that either cause I'm not really getting what you said, or am I, because I'm not really reading this right, I think. I'm thinking, just thinking mind you(and then again, maybe I'm not thinking) that no one else can have an opinion because, if my comprehension is right, you are a musical genius. Bye.

  • Eric<3<3<3<3<3

  • is that OJ at 0:22?

    hahah..

  • excellenT ! dig the SAx solo, oh yeah

  • grande grande

  • yeh, charles miller on tenor, beautiful..

  • I'll be seeing Eric in 5 days at Blues Festival. Can not wait!

  • Cool video!

  • This Is Some Classic Shit . . . .

  • Burdon deserves as much credit as the Stones and the Beatles. He was on the sidelines crafting epic songs and branching out to include new sounds

  • @kenrmcallister THE BEATLES ARE VERY OVERRATED.

  • @kenrmcallister Burdon was a great singer and frontman, but that's overstating the case for him. Alan Price was the main force behind The Animals musically and with WAR he just joined a band that already existed. He's written a few good songs, but he was never same league as a songwriter and most of what he's done since WAR has been dire. Like many artists, he's very good at what he does, but he needs someone else to give him a context equal to his talent.

  • @BlackMonk66 I may be wrong, but I don't believe Eric Burdon ever considered himself anything more than a frontman, a singer, or a song stylist. And he was absolutely awesome at those jobs. As far as Alan Price being the "main force" behind The Animals....well, I respectfully disagree, especially considering the fact that he left the Animals in early 1965.

  • @jml1163 Agreed, he was awesome at those jobs. I was answering someone who said he was in the same league as The Beatles and Stones, who were also great songwriters and had a stronger musical conception.

When I say Price was the main force in The Animals, I'm talking about the first group, distinct from "Eric Burdon &..." Price was on all but the last album of that group and he was the musical director and arranger for them, as well as the primary instrumentalist.

  • a litlle wacky cool song

  • My wife told me that she did not know that Eric was ever with War, I swear I have said "Eric Burden and War" a thousand times in her presence. I always think three things when I think of Eric, The Animals, War, What a phenomenal singer. Way ahead of his time.

  • Eric...<3<3<3

  • I think I'm in love

  • Eric Burdon is so sexy!!!

  • @retrofever1969 damn right!!!!!

  • @retrofever1969 I would be all in on that, right there with you. War WAS the soundtrack to the late sixties and early seventies. Great musicians all. I had a dream Hendrix didn't die and played with War and Eric, wish I never woke up from that one.

  • Okay. Eric was smokin' hott and a fine singer to boot! Wow!!!

  • War + Eric Burdon is like just you know, godlike.

  • What can I say; I'm totally blown away. Eric and gang kicks serious azz.....case closed.

  • @Trexter42 Did I mention that I love that cheap "mood ring" on his finger?!?

  • @Trexter42 That "cheap mood ring" isn't really a mood ring. Eric has had that ring through many years. You can see it in the Spill the wine video from myBeatclub. Look between 2:39 and 2:57. He is wearing the same ring in the River of Blood video on magusmagic7 channel. Look around 1:05. It looks darker because the stage lights are predominately red. Later the ring can be seen on the 1979 performance of See See Rider on magusmagic2. Time signature on that one is :39.

  • god Eric Burdon was a cute one alright. Woah!

  • Thank You So Much!!!!!!!!!

  • great song, but needs more cowbell. :)

  • awesome!

  • Музыка от бога

  • This would appear to be phase three--this man, Eric Burdon, apparently surfed the wave through some of the major phases in US history, muscially and otherwise. Starting out with the British group, The Animals, with their newly grown-out hair and neat matching suits just a few years esarlier, he's all-out cool here with a new set of band-members. It looks as though he's gone through a consciousness awakening right at the height of the war.

  • is this before or after bob marley because he looks like bob marley. EXCEPT WHITE, OBVIOUSLY.

  • Black R/B Soul Tone Rulezzzzzz....Eric Burdon is not bad either..

Da F.... JAM is Soooo CooooooooLa!!!

This part of life of Eric was the BEST!!!!!!!

  • This is amazing

  • this is bitin' hard rock.... love the single-note backing on the jam...

    totally floored....

  • de got de funk

  • ERIC...TE AMOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • gotta agree this rocks hard

  • wow a proper jam session

    fucking AMAZING

    JUST A RIFF

  • fkn barks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • First time seeing that INCREDIBLE footage......Replay..and another roach in the antler...

  • according to legend, E.B. and War were the hardest partying band of their time....one tale suggests the break-up occurred over a fight involving E.B., several members of War, a hot blonde chick named Ella, a case of mescal, and fifty dollars. Hope that helped.

  • cool story

  • cool story

  • heh...luv this

  • Does anyone have the inside scoop on their breakup?

  • @MrJohnmacek , Hi, google Songfacts, there is an interview by the drummer of WAR, Harold Brown. Very informative from a man who has jammed with some of musics greatest artists, besides himself, I might add. Peace.

  • Burdon looks like a wild man from the backwoods in this video. I didn't even know War did this song.

  • I hear my train coming!!!

  • Eric Rules!

My Fav rock' roll singer, in the top of Daltrey, Jagger, Gillan, Bolan, Mercury, Ferry, Morrison (Jim and Van), Cocker, Rodgers, Marriot, Charles, Fogerty...

You are the man Mr. Burdon! Hero.

    5 stars!

  • @Peruanas0 You have good taste!

  • @Peruanas0 and not forgetting steve winwood and chris farlowe

  • @mugwamp4 Off curse, cheers!!

  • @Peruanas0 funny you didn't mention plant... anyway I think they are both the proverbial "SHIT." (the good kind)

  • @piston22 I'm so sorry, it was a big mistake but Plant is my 3th favorit singer, before him, Roger on the top, remains Eric

    My best regards!

  • they did have a killer sound....how i long for those days again....

  • I like spirit..... but hell this is great 2......its the vibe

  • My favorite video on youtube.... love it !

  • That and Spill the Wine!!!

  • Shit, just found this fom looking for Eric Burdon stuff off the back of "The Animals"...... as I said... shit (or do I mean FUCKING HELL.... WHY ISNT Eric Burdon Pope yet?

  • Can't find lyrics for this song. Anyone have a link?

  • I found the original song on iTunes and the lyrics are different in many places. Actually so is the whole song compared to this version. This version is WAY better than the original - much more improvisational.

  • Thank you for the reply. I will check out the original as well. This version is excellent. I love stumbling upon hidden gems such as this.

  • I don't know if anyone's mentioned this already, but there's only one thing lacking from this, and that is more noise from a certain instrument that was discovered hanging from the neck of large ruminative mammals... Thank you. Now STFU.

  • I GOT A A FEVER........!

  • love it ! keep them coming! thanks you so much

  • So is the beer.

    He's drinkin' Tuborg.

  • I don't know why you deleted my comment! you are a silly person. I just wanted to know if there was more of this other than spirit. They only recorded two songs? please, we need to know!

  • Comment removed

  • well said.

  • I watch this once a week at least. what is this from, is there a dvd I can purchase or something?

  • now looking back on this vid i see that the Germans are just sitiing there being their usual stoic selves, an American audience would be dancing and groovin to this. Interesting that Burdon and War toured in Germany, ill bet most of their venues were like this, Their blood pumpin gritty grooves and a bunch of german statues sitting there, LOL, i know i know, im part german myself and i dont dance to too much these days, but jesus,,get up and get on board, lol!!!

  • I was there and I never sat still, I remember that Eric Burdon got pretty drunk and had to be carried out of the stage( after making obscene gestures with a bootle of beer, maybe he waqs pissed that the audience didnt´t move with him) Michael, Cph, Denmark

  • thats cool man, the audience shots make it seem like they were just sittin there. haha maybe you were the only german dancing in the crowd?? LOL

  • the crowd is danish buddy

  • Hey Michael, I have a theory, and I might be wrong, that sometimes people are so blown away by something that they don't move at all.

They just watch silently, like they'd watch an amazing movie. It's not always the right response, but it happens.

I'd be like you, I wouldn't sit still.

  • sometimes events like this are for listening only. Stop watchin Dirty dancing all the time, it's not partying everywhere.

  • Immer wieder auf die Füße gefallen. Der Kerl ist mndestens so sympathisch wie chaotisch. Ich mag den Sack!

  • minus eric burdon of course

  • JUST FUCKING BADASS!

  • Hell yes it is, fuckin awesome. you know i saw these guys when they were all still together and a year before papa dell allen died in 1987-88

  • the bands intencity is just overwelming...........my nigazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
