How to beat Buakaw, turn it into a boxing match. Although this match was very biased, I do agree that Masato won but not by much. Masato should reconsider his career and go into boxing.
@traveler10001000 Sorry I'm misinformed. I don't keep up with this sport as I do boxing. Judging from your tone of voice, I'm almost certain you don't have a lot of friends.
personally,if in a real muay thai fight, masato wouldn't last long against buakaw.he's only quick with hands but his kicks really far2 less effective compared to his hands. you'll need at least 10:6 ratio hands:feet in muay thai and masato seems to have 10:4. but i'm not always right.
Baukaw knew the rules very well & there is no excuse as far as style. He gass'ed out in the last round, for whatever reason. He has a very busy fighting schedual, with somewhere in the 235 fights range at the moment, which is unbelievable. Masato did a great job using his fast hands in the last round. Its not about damage in K1 judging. Although, it doesn't hurt to be Japanese; they always seem to start with more points.
what a joke to count that as a K.O in 1st round...i really like massato, but he is by far the more beloved fighter of japanese judges and has been helped as no one else...as 2004 was a PARODY ,giving an extra round to masato in a fight that he clearly lost in all rounds...this fight was AT LEAST an extra round..shame on judges.
@BD76427 that was a knockdown. masato landed a punch and buakaw went down. explain how that wasnt a knockdown? masato took rounds 1 and 3. buakaw took round 2 but looks like he gassed out in round 3. he was getting outpointed by masato. great fight nonetheless. buakaw is always gonna be a legend.
@salecnc what are u talking about? in round buakaw didnt knock him down, those were slips/takedowns or w/e u call them. buakaw didnt take over the ring in round two, lol. he landed good kicks but masato was way better. and i dont even know what are u saying about round three
@dadamager3000 He wasn't knocked down in round one - the count was bullshit, he was on one leg as the right cross connected coming bk from hi left low kick so he was extremely off balance and was up in literally a second. He was better in round one, dominated round two and got dominated round three, he won more rounds. You need to watch the video closely, look out how much buakaw scored a lot on low kicks, knees and punches, look at who lands more in the first two rounds especially round two.
@kyle1172 okay, my bad, buakaw definitely won round 2. but i dont think he did enough to get round 1 (considering it wasnt a knock down). and if there was an extra round i'd probably bet on masato. anyways its all about that count (referee is the one to blame right?;d ) btw im a fan of both of them
@dadamager3000 Yeah well any excuse for them to give the win to masato, he is really loved in japan, and if you watch it and count each clean shot which landed and had some effect - by each of them you will see. I tallied each round and Buakaw hit over twice as much in round two and had I think five more in round one where as in round three masato had a few more. Yeah I am a fan too they are both awesome, I mimic buakaws style his left roundhouse, teep, left hooks and step up knee especially :P
@dadamager3000 I scored it one, two or three points depending on how much effect there was so the push kick to the leg at the start was a three and so was masato's knockdown.
@VpY22 I don't think you understand the principle of a knockdown, it's when you are jarred or rocked however you want to describe it and therefore you fall to the flaw, mainly due to your knee's collapsing or your legs going like jelly.
The cross masato landed pushed buakaw over as he was turning and on the side of one leg when he went down, he tried to put his leg down but it was wide and he fell and was up instantly. That is a takedown, as a clinchthrow or sweep would be, not a knockdown.
@dadamager3000 How much Buakaw landed* sorry. Masato's fast punch combinations look good but in reality most of the shots don't land (which is probably why you think he was way better) he tends to throw three shots usually all but one avoided (buakaw has gd head work) with one usually glancing him around the forehead and a lot of the uppercuts hitting his forearm which he put vertically under his chin with his other arm out in his long guard, some of the uppercuts hit his body)
@kyle1172 doesnt matter if you landed more punches in a round. once you get knocked down and you fail to knock your opponent down in the same round, you lose the round.
@VpY22 As I explained it was clearly a takedown and Buakaw won the vast majority of the fight, most of masato's punches were glancing blows while buakaw landed with good kicks and punch combinations which masato struggled to deal with, his combinations look very nice but they often didn't have effect, with only one actually landing most of the time out of a three or four punch combo, buakaw similarly landed with a one or two punch combo or a punch and kick or punch and knee combo etc.
@dadamager3000 a good example is if you pause at 03:32 just as it changes from 03:31 you can see his forearm in place where the punch is coming in, (this is harder to spot on video but ringside the judges will have seen) classic biased japanese dickhead judges hating a superior breed of fighters. Buakaw blocked and/or avoided most of the punches like this, that's why you have to watch the fight over slowly before you make a conclusion.
@kyle1172 you said it yourself, you have to watch it again in slow motion to catch that. the judges have to judge in real time. and they dont have the benefit of all the different camera angles. plus, they cant look at a replay and change their score. whatever score they have marked at the end of the round is the final score for that round. there is no instant replay.
@VpY22 They show the audience the playback of the so called knockdown before the fighters have finished there rest in between the rounds - OF COURSE THEY COULD LOOK AT IT, besides they are ringside they should have been able to identify that it wasn't a legit knockdown anyway. Also Buakaw landed more and had more effect, case closed lemon nose.
why did buakaw change his style? or he just wanted to win him at his own game?

K1 always change the rule for Japanese bcus they can't use knees and elbow, so it's not the real fight.

Masato learned his lesson in his early encounter with Buakaw and improvised his hands! Straight gave it Juan Manuel Marquez style to Buakaw!

Buakaw have reason use leg than hand. if you don't know don't talk it very Good.
mrprincepen 3 months ago
true, he needs to get better at boxing. But buakaw is a muay thai boxer not a kick boxer, hence why he was throwing lots of kicks and knees.
