Do you know that Christianity is correct? The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. Jesus is coming again and the signs of the end times that were foretold in the Bible are coming to pass.
This is a pretty good version but no one does it better than Kid Rock! It's probably like his third best song, after the classics "Bawitdaba (a Bang a Dang Diggy Up Jump the Boogie)" and "Born Free."
But you have to give props to the original writer of the song – he wrote it, and Kid Rock took it to its true potential. That's what's so amazing about Kid Rock.
@DiceExpress17 I never "kid" about Kid Rock. (See what I did there?)
This song was okay at best before Mr. Rock took it in his capable hands, brought out the best elements, put his stamp on it, and turned it into a truly memorable ballad, rather than the forgettable 80s throwaway it was.
This Neil Finn fellow could learn a thing or three about the inestimable, inimitable Kid Rock – namely, how to stay relevant for two decades and cultivate throngs of screaming fans. BAWITDABA, BITCHES!
Neil Finn is up there with McCartney when it comes to song writing. The man writes lyrics that will be sung long after we're all dust. Future generations have a lot to look forward to. Lucky us Lucky them.
This is an awesome video, but really, why do people insist on speaking utter nonsense before stuff like this? "It was indeed a Crowded House that night". Suuuuck!
This is one of those songs that just halts you in your trcaks and takes you back to a time when things were a bit more innocent. I guess its the mark of a great song writer/singer when a piece can draw that out of you.
its one of the saddest things to think mr utzon didnt ever see the opera house finished. he was booted out oz halfway through the making because of the cost blow outs and controversy over the design of the building. one of the gr8est sights i have seen is flying into sydney looking over the oprera house and harbour bridge. breathtaking
Holy fuck. If you heard this and didn't know that Neil was 51, you'd think it was a 20 year old singing. His voice is so youthful and crisp. Also, probably one of the best DDIO performances he's ever done.
Buy Crowded House's new album coming out late this year! :D
I didn't even think he was that old!!! (trying to forget how old I'm getting that means then haha) He was my first crush.. not because of how cute he was in 1986 but because I loved his music :) I'm baked and telling a stranger about my crush of neil Finn!!! Oh G-d hahah
Not sure if I really understand the point you're trying to make. This performance is at a memorial service, not quite the time or place for people to be jumping up and down in their seats. Do you notice how Finn is playing this song in a minor key, rather than an upbeat major key as he would usually do if this were a Crowded House or solo concert (where people to this day still jump on their seats)?
Wtf are you talking about? He's obviously playing the song in major key because...um, it was written in a major key to begin with? You have absolutely no clue what you're talking about so please stay out of this in the future....

Ma Man Neil dropped this song to C -Am-F-E7 and with capo on 2nd fret so you amateur guys can learn and play easier. Just OPEN CHORDS.
well that is what his publicist reckon anyway.
Anyway, if you want to check him cover Billie Jean, click on my name. Neil's a legend.

I am still very moved by this song after so many years. Some musicains, songwriters self-destruct fade off...etc.
Neil Finn sounds just as good today as he did those many years ago.
Happy holidays to everyone who enjoys this truly pricelss, timeless song and his brilliant music!
Cheers!!!!
