there were a whole bunch of shows that were on PBS at this time and one sticks out in my mind but I was so young I don't remember the name. It was 2 detectives. Anyone remember that? I'd love to know! This was such a blast from the past!
@amusicianspov your right i used to love watching this show boy the 1980's where the best years it's funny oneday i was taking a bus ride their was a father and he had two little girls one of his Daughters said to him i wish i was born in the 70's or 80's it must have really been a good time fathers committ he said no it's good you came now,i said to myself that girl is right it was a great time.but how did she know that amazing even the youth new to bad they missed out.
@DrewBludd NO. NO. NO. Mathnet sketches came from Square One TV, a mathamatics series. 3-2-1 Contact is science series. Even though math and science may go together, they are 2 different subjects.
@ShinkaHentai@penguin75 The original version of the theme was indeed a bit slower; check out any of the 3-2-1 Contact videos on here with "1980" in the title, especially the one titled "Very First Episode", which is literally a 7-minute documentary on the creation of the theme itself. (For most of us purists, anything 3-2-1 after season 1 might as well just be thrown in the trash; the moronic screwing up of the theme is the least of the later seasons' problems.)
@Sceneyour the world was fucked up then its fucked up now, just fucked up in some of the same and some new ways. very little of the fuckery has improved ppl just got better at hiding it
No your not crazy. I remember watching this on the UK when it used to go out early afternoon at the weekends on Channel 3 and I def remember the 321 bit slower (about a second between each number)
am I crazy, or does the calling out of 3-2-1 happen twice as fast as we all remember it? I've seen shows in reruns change little things like that. saves like 1.5 seconds... you never know...
@blkdout03z71 I am 10 years older than you and loved this show far better than Sesame Street and the theme music snd intros. If you remember the order of the shows in the late afternoon from 1985 on were Sesame St. a 4:00 p.m., Mr. Rogers at 5:00 & 321 Contact at 5:30, prior to that time period The Electric Company was on at 5:30. Those were good times. Was the TV schedule the same as mine. I was in NJ, what state were U in?
Ahhhhhh my jh science teacher made us watch this everyday in class, and this was 95! I can't blame him though his tongue was cut off in the Vietnam war tv was a simple teaching aid ...pretty crazy dude though. Party
It's hard to believe it's all over or even happened so fast. As I watch this clip it feels like just yesterday, I was sitting in front of the t.v. lying on my stomach, chin propped in my hands and feet swaying in the air watching 321 Contact with an undivided attention,
After watching this on TV as a kid, long before high school, it was safe to say that I found science an easy subject when I started high school... my siblings and I learned so much from this programme!!
Why can't teehy have shows like they used to? Or DVDs so we can either re live or show our kids... I was so young when these were on- but loved them. Vauge memories of space camp...
Can you all help me,I was thinking about an old PBS show about an astronaut in a space station who explained things to kids this show was from the late 70's or early 80's thanks
@ilikeitalotthomas@ilikeitalotthomas The closest thing to this I can recall is a show about drawing called "The Secret City", but I think it's more from the late 80s and doesn't exactly fit your description. There are clips here on YouTube. Hope it helps.
@0on0o i used to watch this, along with Sesame Street and even Reading Rainbow when i was young! probably even into my early teens. See i didn't have very many friends when i was that age! i definitely remember the scratching of the cat's chin and the woman kissing the baby! WOW! and i'm gonna be 39 this summer! GAH! if i were to ever go back to the 80s it would be to be young again and for the music! but my not everything i would want to relive again
Hello ["Ni hao“(「你好」)]! We, or as a family, watched this program on TV (PBS) between 1980-1993 in the metropolitan of Boston more than Detroit REALLY! I thought this children's math-science program got canceled close to early 2000s (21st century) but we missed this as much as Reading Rainbow about how leisure time.

321 Blinded me with Science-SCIENCE!!!!! I remember watching an episode of 321 Classroom contact in 6th grade science at Farnsworth Middle School in Sheboygan, WI.
Wow, seeing this after 20 years or so made me realize that I never really understood what this show was about just by the opening sequence. Now I do :-)
Shows were educational back then. I filled my days doing homework, and watching shows such as this, Reading Rainbow, and Newton's apple. I've grown up to be a rather successful individual. I feel bad for the next generation and after, from seeing what's on TV these days such as Jersey Shore, etc .
@NYCxJACK actually, the things that kids are learning nowadays are more crambed than older generations, my younger brother born in the early 90s had to learn algebra in elementary school, 6th grade. i didnt start learning that until i was in high school.

I MEAN it... and because they ran the episodes over and over throughout the years, there was constant memory re-enforcement...
This show and Reading Rainbow are two of the best shows for kids EVER MADE, and since current funding laws demand that public TV teach only mechanics and not reinforcement, they can't be made. It's BS.
This was the reason they canceled Reading Rainbow! No more public funding unless you're teaching mechanics. Pfff.
omygosh i use to love this show watched it everyday , why can they not seem to get back to this ... childrens programs today have no educational merit at all .. unless you live in a pineapple underthe sea and have a 3rd grade education...
Three! Two! One! CONTACT!!! Holy shit I haven't seen this in 25 years!!! And Reading Rainbow, which I just watched. Unbelievable how fast time has gone by. I was just this skinny little 8 year old boy still curious about the world and everything in it...wish I had that same passion for life nowadays.
Does anyone recall if this show had a weekly segment that showed a group of kids on a boat (possible fishing ,like the deadliest catch)? I just remember a scene where they were stranded on a freezing coast and a black kid got hyperthermia. So (and I'm not making this up) the other men stripped down to their underwear and piled up in a sleeping bag with him to revive him. Pretty risque for a children's show in the mid 80's.
The two detectives were a segment called mathnet on the show square one

Three! Two! One!
