  • The two detectives were a segment called mathnet on the show square one

  • 2 detectives? Cartoon.. Or?? What about High Feather? Lol

  • some rapper should sample the intro

  • @TheEscArtist Rapper? Bah!

    Electric music! Dubstep, chiptune! Go!

  • I swear the beginning of this was sampled in a jadakiss song i can't remember the song.

  • @Yuurihime, you're talking about Square One

  • there were a whole bunch of shows that were on PBS at this time and one sticks out in my mind but I was so young I don't remember the name. It was 2 detectives. Anyone remember that? I'd love to know! This was such a blast from the past!

  • I and my siblings watched this as small children on PBS!!!

  • Respect

  • Wow 1988 -89 all over again

  • @amusicianspov your right i used to love watching this show boy the 1980's where the best years it's funny oneday i was taking a bus ride their was a father and he had two little girls one of his Daughters said to him i wish i was born in the 70's or 80's it must have really been a good time fathers committ he said no it's good you came now,i said to myself that girl is right it was a great time.but how did she know that amazing even the youth new to bad they missed out.

  • this brings back memories, thanks you

  • Is this the show that featured the Mathnet sketches? Where cops were called into a crime scene and found a mathematical equation to solve the crime?

  • @DrewBludd NO. NO. NO. Mathnet sketches came from Square One TV, a mathamatics series. 3-2-1 Contact is science series. Even though math and science may go together, they are 2 different subjects.

  • @pressmin Well, don't forget the Bloodhound Gang. Very similar premise.

  • @ShinkaHentai @penguin75 The original version of the theme was indeed a bit slower; check out any of the 3-2-1 Contact videos on here with "1980" in the title, especially the one titled "Very First Episode", which is literally a 7-minute documentary on the creation of the theme itself. (For most of us purists, anything 3-2-1 after season 1 might as well just be thrown in the trash; the moronic screwing up of the theme is the least of the later seasons' problems.)

  • The world was a good place to live then. Now it's a good place to die vomiting.

  • @Sceneyour the world was fucked up then its fucked up now, just fucked up in some of the same and some new ways. very little of the fuckery has improved ppl just got better at hiding it

  • 3-2-1 Porno.

  • I'm so thankful that the world isn't as uptight and "goodie two shoes" as it was back then, I remember how it was. ICK!

  • the apple is rotten by now.. im scared.

  • No your not crazy. I remember watching this on the UK when it used to go out early afternoon at the weekends on Channel 3 and I def remember the 321 bit slower (about a second between each number)

  • am I crazy, or does the calling out of 3-2-1 happen twice as fast as we all remember it? I've seen shows in reruns change little things like that. saves like 1.5 seconds... you never know...

  • I sing this b4 sex

  • @citylove47 How does this work as a solo?

  • Sidney Crosby cleared for contact... yeahhhhhhhh!!!

  • radicalia

  • Fail discus at :06

  • I liked the faster beat for the inroduction of "3-2-1 Contact" program on public television. More Oomph And More Energy!! A Solid 5.

  • Used 2 luv this show. Learned a lot from it. Luvd Bloodhound Gang!

  • I remember watching this show as a kid, i was born in'81, but i learned alot from this show.....loved early computer graphics! I love a good synth!

  • @blkdout03z71 I am 10 years older than you and loved this show far better than Sesame Street and the theme music snd intros. If you remember the order of the shows in the late afternoon from 1985 on were Sesame St. a 4:00 p.m., Mr. Rogers at 5:00 & 321 Contact at 5:30, prior to that time period The Electric Company was on at 5:30. Those were good times. Was the TV schedule the same as mine. I was in NJ, what state were U in?

  • This song makes me cry!

  • LOL! Did you see where the discus went at :08? LMAO!

  • I know this was the 80s, but that theme is so 70s! ^_^ Sure brings back memories, though.

  • and then i can go to showbiz pizza!! and show my daughter what fun is!!

  • good god please take me back there!!! when stuff was magical and people had ethics and cared more!!

  • I'm the only person that I know that watched this show religiously

  • Ahhh, the memories...

  • LOVED this show!!

  • this was a great show...I watched it all the time as a kid.

  • @bennyvega100

It was a little bit after my time, but I remember my sister watching it.

  • This reminds me of EPCOT Center, for some reason.

  • @Supermassively OMG, I totally know what you mean!

  • Ahhhhhh my jh science teacher made us watch this everyday in class, and this was 95! I can't blame him though his tongue was cut off in the Vietnam war tv was a simple teaching aid ...pretty crazy dude though. Party

  • This is why the 80's will always rule.

  • I remember being corralled into a room to watch this at school....

  • OMG, there's a handful of old footage from West Point in there. Great, now I'm gonna have nightmares.

  • @robertlparker Talking about West Point, Georgia? Where at?

  • @ScorpioBornIn69 Not West Point, Georgia. I meant West Point, NY, the Military Academy.

  • @robertlparker

I went to the West Point Youth Camp for two consecutive summers. It was quite an experience!

  • @ 0:08 Early epic fail.

  • It's hard to believe it's all over or even happened so fast. As I watch this clip it feels like just yesterday, I was sitting in front of the t.v. lying on my stomach, chin propped in my hands and feet swaying in the air watching 321 Contact with an undivided attention,

  • @uzernaam The spirit of your expression will save us All.

  • I wanted that giant trampoline so badly...

  • All that's missing are the Solid Gold dancers.

  • OMG!!!! LOVED IT!!!

  • Both the cat and the toad are now dead. So sad.

  • @TonyKaku you had to make it all sad lol.

  • @TonyKaku

But maybe an apple tree from the seeds of that apple is still bearing fruit!

  • @SansAuthoritas But if it hasn't had a palatable variety grafted onto it, it would be really bitter or sour. So sad.

  • @TonyKaku

    True, true.

  • @TonyKaku i don't know why but your comment just made my day

  • @TonyKaku RIP Cat and Toad.. I wonder what the baby is doing these days.. Probably playing Call of Duty or something.

  • @TonyKaku Some cats can live up to 35 years.

Some toads can freeze themselves and stay frozen for long periods of time.

  • @MithranArkanere You're just trying to make me feel better :(

  • "contact is the reason that everything happens"

Apparently these scientists have never heard of quantum entanglement.

  • @jamesdaubek hahaha you smart ass!

  • After watching this on TV as a kid, long before high school, it was safe to say that I found science an easy subject when I started high school... my siblings and I learned so much from this programme!!

  • Man I loved this show!!!!

  • News flash im old, at least i feel old now!

  • those were the days!

  • Amen To That. Now A Days The Kids Could Teach The Adults.

  • There's no school like the old school!

  • Why can't teehy have shows like they used to? Or DVDs so we can either re live or show our kids... I was so young when these were on- but loved them. Vauge memories of space camp...

  • am i on acid?

  • god im getting so old :(

  • terrific show. Newton's Apple too: outstanding.

  • Can you all help me,I was thinking about an old PBS show about an astronaut in a space station who explained things to kids this show was from the late 70's or early 80's thanks

  • @ilikeitalotthomas @ilikeitalotthomas The closest thing to this I can recall is a show about drawing called "The Secret City", but I think it's more from the late 80s and doesn't exactly fit your description. There are clips here on YouTube. Hope it helps.

  • i hated this show. It's been forever and I still remember this song word for word.

  • Damn I just made myself feel really old.

  • I used to watch this!!! lolololol I haven't seen this in years!!! LOL

  • @0on0o i used to watch this, along with Sesame Street and even Reading Rainbow when i was young! probably even into my early teens. See i didn't have very many friends when i was that age! i definitely remember the scratching of the cat's chin and the woman kissing the baby! WOW! and i'm gonna be 39 this summer! GAH! if i were to ever go back to the 80s it would be to be young again and for the music! but my not everything i would want to relive again

  • I hated this show as kid but, I always sat through the song

  • @shontapi, they were indeed the good ol days

  • Back when children s programing made sense

  • Why isn't kids' TV this way nowadays?

  • Wow...I remember this very well. I am getting old old old.

  • Memories, memories. Yes!

  • I like when it shows the person making contact with the cat's cute face.

  • 6 ppl never had contact

  • Hello ["Ni hao“(「你好」)]! We, or as a family, watched this program on TV (PBS) between 1980-1993 in the metropolitan of Boston more than Detroit REALLY! I thought this children's math-science program got canceled close to early 2000s (21st century) but we missed this as much as Reading Rainbow about how leisure time.

  • When I was little I would watch KET (PBS) all morning every morning. This show, the Electric Company, Mr. Wizard, etc. I loved all those shows and I learned a ton, unlike today where kids sit around like blobs watching Spongebob while their brains rot.

  • I loved this show. TV then was learning a lot.

  • never watched the show but LIKE THE THEME SONG.

  • Comment removed

  • OH MY GOD!!! Haven't seen this since i was 12!! I even had a subscription to the magazine! I learned how eggs cook, how bees buzz, and how we see and hear from this show!! Just don't make shows like this anymore!

  • back when kids show made SENSE!!

  • OMG can I cry now? This was one of my childhood faves! Hated science but loved this show. Too bad kids today are stuck wirh crappy tv shows! good memories...*sigh*

  • theme song rules.

  • We are watching this in class.. I love the gymnastics part it's my dream I can't stop doing it

  • 1984.... our teacher making us watch it on that big ol tv hidden behind cupboard doors....channel 56 i think.....good times

  • I still wonder how the singers feel to sing such gay stuff. Do they just blank their minds and tell themselves that they're getting paid?

  • WEHAT HAPPENED TO "GOOD T.V." LIKE THIS, WHY DID THEY REPLACE IT WITH GARBAGE!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • I hadn't seen this in close to thirty years. I came to watch it tonight specifically to see the kitteh. I missed that kitteh.

  • The 80's even 90's were cool without the douchbaggery of the 2000's and today

  • 5 people are oblivious to the secret and moment when everything happens.

  • They remade Electric Company and it nothing like the original. I hope and pray that they do not remake 3-2-1 contact.

  • @zshaw7549

Unfortunately you can't even find it anywhere, and there is very little information on it anywhere online.

  • ya know i watched this at school and i was like mumbling ...80,s! then i heard this on south park kenny dies

  • This video proves that world WAS in fact more innocent in the 80's

  • Damn, I miss the 80s so bad.

  • @Txboy85A you aint the only one man you aint

  • I love this theme song so 70's & 80's

  • This shows my age that i used to watch this. PBS always has shows on that the kids learn from, that's why I like my kids watching that stuff. They love it

  • oh yeah I almost forgot, we actually used to learn stuff from kids shows back then

  • @PhilM662 aint that the truth.

  • @PhilM662 i know kid shows now days teach kids to be lil douche bags with alot of sarcasm

  • @graveplott47 Seriously. I agree totally...the cartoons and tv shows for kids that are on now are terrible.

  • @PhilM662

    Yes we certainly did!

  • that girl had a sweet butt in the pink. :)

  • those were the good ole days

  • 321 Blinded me with Science-SCIENCE!!!!! I remember watching an episode of 321 Classroom contact in 6th grade science at Farnsworth Middle School in Sheboygan, WI.

  • Bring this show back! I don't care if the intro different. If this show was till on air I see them doing Episode on facebook and youtube.

  • Wow, seeing this after 20 years or so made me realize that I never really understood what this show was about just by the opening sequence. Now I do :-)

  • I want a band to do a cover of this song...a good 70's sounding band

  • i'm from the new generation... that's why i watch shows like this

  • i love the apple 2 in the room, and i bet that cat is dead now

  • Shows were educational back then. I filled my days doing homework, and watching shows such as this, Reading Rainbow, and Newton's apple. I've grown up to be a rather successful individual. I feel bad for the next generation and after, from seeing what's on TV these days such as Jersey Shore, etc .

  • @NYCxJACK actually, the things that kids are learning nowadays are more crambed than older generations, my younger brother born in the early 90s had to learn algebra in elementary school, 6th grade. i didnt start learning that until i was in high school.

  • I remember that I had the major hots for the girl Robin, I thought she was way hot!

  • Used to LOVE this show! Brings back memories of elementary school. :-)

  • I miss this show! I wish it were around for my kiddos.

  • Wow this brings back the memories!

  • How many kid's shows of the 2000's use cheap 70's porno music in their intros? Not many my friend, not many.

  • Comment removed

  • yep. about all i had when i was a kid were shows like this and now i have degrees in math and engineering.

  • destorm oh yeah i remember this

  • Wow, childhood memories just flooded my brain. Cool.

  • Best freak'n show ever!!!

  • Very nostalgic, very cool!!

  • I used to watch PBS without being forced to. The only show I was forced to watch was Reading Rainbow. Funny enough that when I was ten I started watching MTV and abandoned PBS, which was in the early nineties. But 3-2-1 Contact is a friggin classic.

  • I really want to buy copies of these episodes for my kids or view them through Netflix, but they are not available ANYWHERE!

To the original producers of 3-2-1 Contact: PLEASE release this show to the public for purchase or viewing..

Samuel Y. Gibbon, Jr. - original creator, original executive producer

Dr. Edward G. Atkins - science content

    Al Hyslop - executive producer

    Ozzie Alfonso - director

Please contact me if you know when this show will ever become available again.

  • Watching this show EVERY DAY AFTER SCHOOL is what gave me a foundation to answer 80% of ALL of my science test questions/homework assignments from 7th grade all the way through 12th grade... I MEAN it... and because they ran the episodes over and over throughout the years, there was constant memory re-enforcement...

  • ohmigod...this show was so awesome...just randomly googled it to see if anything came up...love it!!!

  • This show and Reading Rainbow are two of the best shows for kids EVER MADE, and since current funding laws demand that public TV teach only mechanics and not reinforcement, they can't be made. It's BS.

This was the reason they canceled Reading Rainbow! No more public funding unless you're teaching mechanics. Pfff.

  • WOW used to love this show.

  • Love the show. Love the 80s production value and music. Cue the casio keyboards

  • At the time, I pretty much hated the early 80's but this show was one of the bright spots.

  • very good show. I grad HS in 1984 and still watched it and liked the theme.

  • I would rush home from school to watch this show. The Bllodhound gang was my fave part, but it made learning fun. Thanks for sharing this.

  • Wow!!!!!! That took me way back......awesome theme and show....i remember the bloodhound gang also...thank u so so much for post.... Great memories:)

  • omygosh i use to love this show watched it everyday , why can they not seem to get back to this ... childrens programs today have no educational merit at all .. unless you live in a pineapple underthe sea and have a 3rd grade education...

  • I love how PETTING A KITTY is - THE REASON and the MOMENT WHEN EVERYHTING HAPPENS... Let's Make Contact !

  • @muttamerican lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Three! Two! One! CONTACT!!! Holy shit I haven't seen this in 25 years!!! And Reading Rainbow, which I just watched. Unbelievable how fast time has gone by. I was just this skinny little 8 year old boy still curious about the world and everything in it...wish I had that same passion for life nowadays.

  • its kinda like flintstones

  • This was my show! AGGGHHHH! I LOVED THIS SONG!

  • Contact....is the secret, is the moment.... where everything happens, contact.

Contact is the answer......is the reason........

  • Why is everything made in the 80's soo RAD!!

  • Does anyone recall if this show had a weekly segment that showed a group of kids on a boat (possible fishing ,like the deadliest catch)? I just remember a scene where they were stranded on a freezing coast and a black kid got hyperthermia. So (and I'm not making this up) the other men stripped down to their underwear and piled up in a sleeping bag with him to revive him. Pretty risque for a children's show in the mid 80's.
