  • the pageantry, the discipline....outstanding.

  • I wonder what it would be like if you put tap dancing shoes on them and then made them march = )

  • @chelzeydarling

Well technically they're all wearing tap shoes already.

Their 'ammo' boots have a horse shoe in the heel, hobnails throughout the sole and a metal toe-plate.

It increases the durability of the boots and also makes the lovely crunching sound as they march possible.

  • @emptyangel I guess i can hear the tap to their shoes now that you mention that. How interesting

  • This is just wonderful, as usual, CandH001. Is it only me or there is no band in the whole world that plays "Carry On" better than the Coldstream Guards Band. Maybe I'm prejudiced but I can't imagine it better played during a parade. Thank you for the upload.

  • Superb! Well done the Brigade of Guards!

  • No country in the world does pageantry as well as the British

  • Can anyone please tell me the name of the tune before crags of tumbledown?

  • Hi Folks,

Anyone know the piece of music @ 3.34 mins ?

  • @BaildonLad - It's called 'Crags of Tumbledown'. The pipe tune was written during the Falklands War in 1982 by a Scots Guards Piper in his shell-scrape. He was up Tumbledown mountain shortly after it's capture and wrote the tune on the back of a ration pack before the task force went onto relieve Port Stanley.

  • @TVStix Thanks a lot mate !! Cheers, Tim

  • @BaildonLad I'm pretty certain that's it Crags of Tumbledown.

  • Rule Britania! Nobody does it better! Thanks our lads! Keep up the good work!!

  • Well it's awesome ! Like british marches ! God save the Queen ....

    Greets from Germany.....

  • If anyone is interested, in order of appearenace: Coldstream Guards, Scots Guards,

Irish Guards i wonder where the Grens and the Welsh Are!

    Good job anyway.

  • @veltroo The Band of the Grenadier Guards are first out from Wellington Barracks with the streetliners. The Band of the Welsh Guards follow the Band And Pipes And Drums of the Scots Guards.

  • bien filmé et monté...

  • Think, if you abolished the monarchy you'd save millions and millions and get rid of a stoic old german. Not only that, you wouldn't have to look at Charlie's dog Camilla anymore either!

  • @sockettuem

Ummm...actually, the Queen brings in over £200million a year from tourism and other sources for the country, so we would actually be worse of without her. Besides...Im happy to pay 64p a year to have the Monarchy.

You are one of the vocal FEW...who want to get rid of them...and you will forever remain the few.

  • No one does pomp and pageantry better than the British.

  • The imperial march goes so well over this lol

  • Great version of Crags of Tumbledown in this one....

  • What kind of a world would our nation be without our Queen? An american, nuke everything that has an average IQ above 2.

  • God save the Queen :)

  • Every man on parade a fighting soldier, God I'm proud of our armed forces!!

  • Wonderful!!!

  • lads on tour

  • god save the queen

the best are the piupes and drums from the scots guards my dad was in the pipe band from the scots guards

  • "British Tommies - no better fighting men. Marching in close order, in step, arms swinging, fine veteran troops. British Infantry."

    - US Army Officer WW2

  • my son's here somewhere escorting the colour

  • You must be a proud father. God Bless.

  • I love the arrangement of Crags of Tumbledown at 3:26 played by the Scots Guards. The Original is by Pipe Major Jimmy Riddle SG but I think this arrangement is by Lt Col David Price, former Director of Music of the Scots Guards and Senior Director of Music of The Household Division.

  • @MSD88

Thanks, I was wondering what that music was called. Crags of Tumbledown is the most epic marching music I've ever heard lol.

  • @MrJST87 pipe major RIDDELL was present with the 2nd bn scots guards at the battle of tumbledown mountain and wrote this tune that night on the back of a ration pack.....marty

  • GOS SAVE THE QUEEN!!!

  • nice dog

  • Love it!! Teach the rest of us how to do it THAT well...

  • REDCOATS= the British Infantry has always been fearsome enemy around worlds battlefields. Finnish Army is the one and only match :-)

  • Fucking awesome. If we abolished the monarchy, all this pomp and ceremony (which us Brits own at), would go too.

British Army = best of the best. Keep up the good work lads and rest in peace to all the fallen. We shall remember them.

  • Here, here!

I am an American-Canadian and an avid history scholar. Wonderful ceremonies such as the Trooping of the Colour should never fall by the wayside, but should be forever celebrated. The tradition and the pomp is second to none.

I was lucky enough to witness this in London and have wanted to return ever since.

  • @ApproachWithCaution Most of those who advocate the abolition of the monarchy do so out of avarice and jealousy. If the monarchy were abolished we would need a new head of state, which would undoubtedly be a president. A president would cost as much, if not more than a monarch, and how many tourists would flock to see the president, or the presidents residence? The monarchy and the pomp and ceremony is our heritage, and one of our greatest assets.

  • @Sarge084 of course i agree with you. But if such a terrible day were to happen, why couldn't we just make the Prime Minister the head of state? It's not like the monarchy has any real power these days anyway.

  • @ApproachWithCaution There needs to be a system in place to stop abuse of power, look at Robert Mugabe! In most civilised nations there is a two tier system, and the majority of commonwealth countries have PM and president.

The Queen does have powers, but can't really use them. She signs all new laws before enactment, she dissolves government, she has quite a big involvement. Tony Blair came to admire her even though he was, and is a federalist.

  • @ApproachWithCaution

A PM can't be Head Of State because no government wants to call a new election and risk getting kicked out. You have to have a HOS, seperate to Parliament, that is responsible for calling elections, opening Parliament and dissolving Parliament. If it wasn't the Monarch it would be a politically biased president. And the most important thing for the Head Of State is to be politically UNbiased. So a Monarch is a million times better.

  • @ApproachWithCaution In the current situation I really can't see any way we could abolish the monarchy.

As many of you may know, Queen is head of many other countries, she's head of the commonwealth, and we are the United Kingdom. To abolish the monarchy so much would have to change. :)

  • @ApproachWithCaution i took of my hat when i saw your message, remember those that help the commonwealth

  • @ApproachWithCaution 2nd best, U.S Army # 1. And you know this...

  • @ImperatorDominus Hahaha! Our navy defeated you with 5 vs 25 ships in a drill xD Holland Rules!

  • @noobje91 Don't be stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @shadoogie61 Just talking the truth man ;) You can actually look it up in navy archives :p

  • @shadoogie61 Just talking the truth man ;) You can actually look it up in navy archives :p Anyways.. i don't want to make lame discussions on Youtube

  • @ImperatorDominus

The United States does many things better than the rest of the world, but pageantry ain't one of 'em.

  • @ApproachWithCaution

Those Bearskin hats those blokes wear were stolen from the French. A nation hardly lacking in pomp and ceremony, but happily lacking a monarchy.

We do not need a a parasitic bunch of spongers to be British.

  • @roberts1966

The royal family are all german or greek immigrants anyway.

    Windsor?

My Arse- try Sax Coburg Gotha

The Krauts only changed that name after they were too embarressed during ww1.

  • look at all those medals! I bet this years (2010) will be covered in 'em. Nice one lads!

  • yh i know so many medals, havent seen so many since the russian parade, Our british heros working harder then ever, long live United Kingdom.

  • hey just think - in 50 years time in Chelsea hospital all the pensioners will be talking about the afghan war and how devilish those rag 'eds were! Just the old boys do nw about the germans lol.

  • Brilliant video, thanks :)

  • Thanks for video i missed all this!

  • Excellent video. Well done. Good variety showing the Guards Regiments to advantage. They all looked great and it was good to see the Scots Guards pipers.

  • The soldiers being led by the first band are the ones who will line the length of The Mall right?

  • Never mind, found out myself. You can see the Irish Guards at the rear there.

Also, the Band of the Welsh Guards lead the Grenadier Guards.

  • Yer I guess that's something to do with the senior drum major needing to get on parade with his band first

  • Actually I think it has more to do with the fact that the Welsh Guards were not in this year's Trooping the Colour.

  • Correct. They were in middle east

  • The Senior Drum Major is always with the first band from Wellington Barracks on the Queen's Birthday Parade (on this occasion The Grenadier Guards Band). Once on Horse Guards Parade he is of course the centre Drum Major and The Grenadier Guards Band form up on the right of the Massed Bands.

  • Nice one, well done for putting the Scots Guards bagpipes on too, everyone else missed them sadly (or hasn't uploaded a video at least).

  • brilliant
