  • Wonderful video, thank you Hala and Samir for making it, but I am lost about "Light my Fire" at the end of the video. Did you intend to make that the sound track? It would have been apt as the meal certainly does that to me!!

  • @m0ntaha , everyone has their own way in cooking :)

    the meat broth is already spiced up, so the extra spices were added later to flavor the rice.

  • we do not add onions , and we put more egg plants and tomatoes and less meat , thats too much xD

  • @m39bdaiman, the onions add special flavor to it, that is why i add them, if you try it you will know what i am talking about. also, i guess with cooking any recipe you can modify it any way you like, you can add more stuff of what you like and less of other ingredients, it all depends on your own personal taste. i am sure yours is just as good as mine :)

  • this is a nice video. the video I had made the rice is not cooked seperately it is cooked after you fry all the potatoes, collaflower, chicken, etc whatev you put in there. but very well done. it looks way good. >

  • @sneezln , The rice is not cooked separately at all in this recipe, it is added to the already fried eggplants and the precooked meat, all layered in the pot and then you cooked all together. this way the rice will get the flavor of the meat and the friend eggplants of whichever vegetables you are using. thanks for coming by, watching and leaving a comment.

  • @sawsan211 , Thanks. the onions were not burnt at all, they were fried to a dark brown color to get the maximum taste that adds a really nice taste to the whole dish...try it and you might like it.

  • any tipe of regular rice can be ok, but the best one is the Sunwhite.....

    i love maqloooba, and so hungry :-(

  • @msbaihat , you may use any rice of your choice, such as long grain or basmati rice, but i like to use short grain rice also knows as "Egyptian rice" . Sunwhite is great to use with this recipe too.

  • you should let the water boil wyth the spices. just to let you know. then toss the hot water wyth spices in it in. so much more tasty. the spices go all through the meal. Way bomb. my moms is the best magloobeh maker in jordan and america. she makes it wyth chicken collaflower, potatoes, and rice. leben and a wonderful arabic salad. mmmm mmmm good.

    for your information, the "water" i added to the rice is already spiced up, it is meat broth with many spices,not just plain flavorless water. the extra added spices are for color and to flavor the rice. Maqloobeh can be made with many different vegetables and with chicken instead of meat, its all up to your mom how she likes cooking it. Thanks for coming by

  • @ultim8shrink , usually short grain rice is used but you can use long grain rice or basmati rice.

  • @Ibrambobby , thanks again for the comments. for the spices, i would add about a table spoon of each kind that is used, but also, it depends on your personal taste and the amounts you are cooking..the listed ingredients would feed at least 6-8 people.

    but of course there are many variations for any recipe you can make it your own way.

  • oh god guys is good dish period ,, last time i cooked it, i have to cook the rice half cook i was a afraid may the rice will not cook fully, i will try it mimi way this time, ii just LOVE LOVE MAGLOOBEH mmmmmmmmmmmm magloobeh

  • I hope this method works out for you...i assure you, the rice will cook fully, but make sure to follow the directions. :)

  • I am pretty sure that Magloobeh is Palestinian but it is also prepared in Jordan too by Jordanians too...not nice to separate Jordanians from Palestinians, they are practically one nation, one people!

  • i cooked it once it was yummy, never had it before. buti made it with chicken which was realy good and looked nice too :)

  • of course you can make it with chicken or any meat of your choice, also you may add different vegetables to it, its all up to you. but this recipe is the classic recipe for this dish. thanks for coming by.

  • thanks for putting the recipe out for everyone. don't you think there was excess of broth? - i thought the rice wasn't fluffy at the end. but anyway, we also add potato sometimes to the recipe - in addition to cauliflower, eggplant and tomatoes.

  • Gahgeer, the amount of broth that was added was just right and the rice came out fluffy and done all the way. you can add any type of vegetables to it , it is all up to you..but this is how i usually make it. :)

  • I usually use Egyptian rice, which is short grain rice. but you may use any type of rice you like, such as Basmati or long grain rice.

    i have a question.....the tin plate u put over the fire.....what if my stove is the circle coil stove....do u still put the tin foil over it?

  • Heaveno akhi, No you don't have to put a tin or thick plate and remember cooking is an art and this video will give you an idea but all depends of your talent as an artist.
