  • Freudian?

  • great work! thanks!

  • This is the perfect tribute to one of the most artistically surreal yet excellingly brilliant motion pictures ever made.

  • What the fuck is this im so confused

  • @rayray123116 LOL SO IS Laura Dern by the looks of her in this clip.....

  • LOL! From this, one could surmise she spends the whole three hours crying.

  • Laura Dern 1992 refused to see a dying young man from Make a wish foundation she is a selfish cunt! Horse face would'nt even send a picture. I can't stand her! If it weren't for her Mommy and Daddy she's be a nobody. Lanky ugly nasty pig! She got dumped by Billy Bob and her current husband just filed for divorce. HA HA DERN must be the worst FUCK? Or perhaps she is a black hearted selfish bitch? Probably BOTH! HATE HER! Horse face bitch!

  • Pleeeeease someone tell me the name of this song

  • @ClearlyBlazed The Secrets of the Life Tree by Kroke

  • @diegojavs Thank you :)

  • Laura Dern's a mudshark cunt. I hope she goes to hell for betraying her race.

  • @lastwhiteman23 ME too!

Also she refused to help Make a wish foundation in 1992 a dying young man wanted to meet her and she said NO!

Laura horse face Dern is a piece of SHIT!

  • Laura Dern is Super. D.L. is GREAT.

    Always liked Bruce Dern too.

    B.D.W.

  • Brilliant

  • Such an atrocity that she wasn't nominated for an Academy Award for this role.

  • Dear Lynch followers and not followers, in my opinion Mr. Lynch movies are pretty much what human beings want: answers. That's why we watch every single time his movies and we love it: there are no answers, it's all about interpretations.

  • well part of the way you get some answers

in IE you can side with the desire or the guilt or both or none, but that's about it

  • For those that are not Lynchinians....you must understand how David works most of his films....though they are hard to find...his films do carry meaning..I personally had to watch Mulholland Dr 3 times before I fully understood. David doesn't interview much or explain his films mostly because he wants you to interpret it for yourself. He has said that if he explained them that they would never be the same to the watcher.

  • "He has said that if he explained them that they would never be the same to the watcher."

Sorry, but that's just an excuse. Just because someone calls something "abstract" or "artistic" doesn't mean it's good. There is no story to interpret for yourself because there is no story.

Plain and simple, given a crew, cameras and my choice of starlet, I can produce exactly the same if not a better film than anything David Lynch has produced.

More than willing to prove it.

  • Okay bad boy- then go ahead and prove it....and if in ten years you have the kind of body of work DL has and has the kind of following he does then Ill be the 1st one to kiss your grits pal....but back here on reality island. DL is the best writer/director there is. He gives the viewers something to talk about after viewing one of his masterpieces. No one can deny that he is great.

  • @theenigmajjames see i think that I interpret your statement as meaning that David Lynch sucks. Even though you might not see it that way...My personal perception from reading your statement is that you think david lynch is a terrible director. This is an interesting because like you i also believe that Lynch is an awful director. You know it's all so relative....

  • @theenigmajjames In all seriousness im curious why you feel like you can argue for this kind of existential, relativistic meaning in art and then attempt to assert something so objective like whether or not he is a great director? It's meaningless. A great director communicates meaning with a story and he does it artistically and emotionally. Anyone can create a movie that communicates no real meaning and leaves the meaning to be defined by the viewer's imagination. That's not good art.

  • okay...maybe my words were misunderstood..or I didnt articulate right..There is def meaning in all of Lynch's films..it is there without the viewer having to interpret...but if the viewer doesnt see the real meaning..then the meaning is up to you to make what you will of it...this could be done with any film by any director/writer...and you sure have a hell of a lot to say about Lynch for some one that says he doesnt like his work

  • But this movie does have real meaning. Maybe you don't understand the language but the meaning is there for anyone who learns that language.

  • I have always loved Laura Dern and this is not a jab at her, but this film is not that good.

Do people watch films like Inland Empire and try to come up with some rationalization that what they say could not have been a huge waste of their time? It's a bad film. The ending over the credits being the worst part of all.

Plain and simple, the film makes no sense. I would hope filmmakers would try new things instead of remaking Rocky 15, but this one doesn't qualify in my book.

  • thats the point. its not supposed to make sense. people watch it for the reason people see abstract paintings. there is a false idea that film must have a coherent story but david lynch would prove that wrong. this project of his was 100% emotion, 0% plot, and thats the way a film like this should be. it is beautiful. i mean, few movies can evoke happiness, sadness, terror and curiosity out o me at once, and this film does it the best.

  • No, I watched it all the way through because the question of the film was supposed to be "is it a dream?". By the time of her death scene and stupid dance party over the credits, I didn't care.

Your comparison to abstract art is a good one. Some people look at a Pollock painting and see mastery and innovation. Some see something a child could do in 15 minutes. I guess I prefer art (and films) that take skill and planning.

I don't buy the "not supposed to make sense" argument. It's just bad.

  • dont say inland empire didnt take skill or planning. your still looking at this movie as if to get something out of it. im sorry, but its only purpose is to evoke tremendous pathos. david lynch shot almost 600 hours of digital footage, and carefully handcrafted that footage into a feature length masterpiece. its pacing is some of the best ever in a film, and he poured more of his heart and soul into this project then any other. have you seen any other movie by david lynch?

  • Like Wild At Heart (also with Dern), Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Crumb, Eraserhead, etc? Yes, I have seen a Lynch film or two.

The thing I wonder is if you (or some of the others here) would feel so enamored if Lynch casted someone like Roseanne or Rosie O'Donnell in the lead role of this or one of his other films. Not a Rosselini, Dern. Arquette, Fenn, Amick or some other nubile sex symbol.

If what he does is truly art, then let him work without someone like them. No one would watch it.

  • you mean truly art film must without stars ?

  • No, I am saying that if David Lynch didn't have some eye candy in his films then no one would go see them.

When you refer to "stars" then ask yourself if you would be singing the praises of this film if it had someone like Omarosa or someone like Kathy Griffin?

My debate is that there are people who seriously think this is art. I am saying if you take away the thing that distracts your attention (like a Sherilyn Fenn), then his "art" becomes much less appealing.

    Be honest.

  • Personally Id see anything with DL's name attached to it regardless of any T n a or who plays in it. because I know when I see a DL film...its going to make me think very hard...and I like that in a film...I dont go for the mindless pointless garb that fills the theatres these days

  • theenigmajjames said:

"No one can deny that he is great."

    Pretty sure I just did.

OK folks if you like Lynch's work, good for you. It's not my cup of tea so to speak. I don't see anything of value in his work. Putting strange images out there and saying "you decide what it means" is crap.

Some people paint an abstract painting and convince you its a masterpiece. Not matter how bad it is. There is always a group of people who will swear by and worship it.

    Oh well.

  • my point isnt that his work doesnt make sense and is totally left up to the viewer for interpretation...Mulholland Dr for instance....there IS def a meaning to the story and very well and carefully placed meaning. but Lynch isnt going to baby you and tell everyone what every part means...his work IS NOT just random images for consumption.. there is always a meaning...you may have to work for it a little bit...but thats what great cinema is about. if you dont like it..watch disney films then

  • @tsmakungfu

No no no. This film does have meaning and is obviously art to those who are receptive to it. The first time I watched INLAND EMPIRE I was set to watch Lynch crash and burn. I was WRONG......HONESTLY!

  • @at1simp If you guys think it's art, fine. If you think it's a good film, fine. You believe David Lynch is a god among directors, hunky dory. Whatever. It's a big world.

I find his work self indulgent, sloppy, without merit and for the lack of desire to even reach for the thesaurus on this topic, a waste of film.

You are entitled to your opinion as I am mine. I just personally feel that Lynch is playing a huge joke on the world. Beauty doesn't equal talent. Abstract doesn't equal good.

  • @tsmakungfu You know what? I totally agree.

I mean I'd never miss one of his movies because I find them intriguing but man, they could be way better!

So far, he's best movie is still The Elephant Man. The only one that had something you can call a script.

  • @at1simp I "understood" it the second time I watched it. My girlfriend "understood" it the FIRST time. Girl power....

  • Well IMO I think its great. Just like any other DL film. It leaves it open for the viewer to determine what he just saw. and a great conversation piece as well. Just my opinion though. which the differences in...are what makes the globe go 'round

  • Beautiful edit!

  • I'm in love with this film.

  • Laura Dern has always been hot to me since I first saw her in Mask as Diana.

  • Not sure if it's just me but aging along with Laura Dern I'm finding her more and more attractive all the time... as an actress this is by far her best role and it can't have been easy to play... What a mighty fine talented beautiful woman she is - Can't knock Lynch for this at all, his best movie to date. - 10/10

  • Wonderful!

    What is this beautiful music?

  • It's called Secrets of Life Tree by Kroke and is on the soundtrack for INLAND EMPIRE

  • Thank you so much! :)

  • Somehow it reminds me of "Sycamore Trees" from the Twin Peaks final... A coincidence?

  • Comment removed

  • Mulholland Drives fractured Little Sister. Wonderful film, if not lynches best work.

  • Brave actress! Lara dern brave person

  • very nice music - does anybody know what is it? thx for info

  • Laura dern deserved an oscar nomination at least...

sorry for my primitive english, but i thiNk she rocks!! the whole movie ROCKS!

  • Wow, cool. This is my favourite film, EVER!

    "hey, hey-watch this move....click"

  • Maybe I don`t know anything about art? Or is this underestimate of viewers? Laura Dern is truly gorgeous woman but Inland Empire was still too much for me!

  • Thank You

  • Great Work!

    Good film editing!
