Both parties need a wake up call. Many people don't vote because of their dislike of the candidates. Oil prices per barrel have risen from $25 to $130 since we invaded Iraq. Of course there are other factors, but the timeline is amazing to see. Hang on, I wanna see the end of vid where McCain't gets dissed, so hilarious! And it's a setup audience too! WoW!
One of the other factors is Congress. The really big spike in price occured since Democrats took over congress in 06' with the promises of bringing down energy prices.

Hi error000. Some common sense stuff does help save gas in a person's gas tank. Making sure maintenance - properly inflated tires - is up to date, slowing down and following the speed limits more closely, only using auto air conditioning when needed, and scheduling trips to cut down on the unnecessary of trips all makes gas go farther. People can make the decision to consume less, recycle more and sign up for wind-green-electric power. Plant a tree every year.
I also believe that it is not possible for the United States to achieve total energy independence. People would have to curb their consumption, and are not committed to, or eager, to do that. You just watch and see-as soon as the gas price comes down a bit-and it will-people will go and get the gas guzzlers again. This environmental stuff has been warned about since the 70's, and people haven't listened. The problem is not a new one. Communities still throw away MOUNTAINS of trash each week.
I was hearing in the news that communities are going to try to PAY PEOPLE TO COMMIT TO RECYCLING, BECAUSE THEY WON'T. I don't support nuclear power plants, because there are still many issues with them. One is that the U.S.A. doesn't recycle the waste that I hear France somehow does, but stores it due to not knowing what to do with it. They also use a tremendous amount of water. There have been large areas of the USA experiencing droughts. There are not enough cancer studies being done either.
One more thing - It is the MEDIA that is beating the band on this SUPPOSED energy crisis. Why did one oil company experience record profits? Someone is making their money. There are people making quite a bit of money off of this SUPPOSED energy crisis - such as CF bulbs that are dangerous to the environment if not thrown away properly. There is trouble with the environment, and has been reported on for awhile. Fear can cause some to get rich and collapse banks.
People need to slow down, consume less, recycle more, buy energy efficient appliances, turn off and unplug stuff that isn't being used, pay off-close-and cut up credit cards, and put money aside-be more mindful in spending. - feed the pig com - Plant a tree every year. Al Gore recommends much of this stuff in his film what everyday people can do.
Profits are good and in a free market more competition will come to provide us with even better service at a reasonable price to fuel our vehicles and homes. When government interferes and increases taxes is when you better be careful or our supply will be limited and we fill be forced into behaviors that we do not want in a free and open market.

Actually, McCain is telling the truth. If you look at what little detail the *Middle Class* tax cuts have, it is an EIC. EIC's are for individuals making less than $19K a year. Maybe in your world *rich* begins at $19K, but not here in the real world.
Next, Obama changed his position on the funding of these $500 (that's right, $500) tax credits. He is now using the Windfall Profits Tax which he claimed during the primary would not even cover $28 per driver. Bye bye Energy funding.

You can stop taking Obama's word about only raising taxes on those making more than $250K. You might want to look at his actions and not his words (Public Financing, FISA, NAFTA, etc). Obama voted to raise the 25% tax and above brackets. The 25% tax bracket is $32.550.
If you stop repeating Obama's ever changing talking points and just look at what little he has done you'd realize his platform must be talking about someone else, because his actions suggest he disagrees with his own platform.

It's obvious that this is an issue NOW because oil prices were increasing everyday for 7 months. When Bush lifted the ban, prices dropped for the first time in 7 months. That's hardly coincidental.

Both parties need a wake up call. Many people don't vote because of their dislike of the candidates. Bush said colorado is capable of producing 12 times more oil than saudi arabia. we were gonna drill there but clinton vetoed it. gas woulda been cheap if we drilled back then and it didn't get vetoed. now obama wants to veto it again. he feeds everybody this bullshit of alternate fuels. sad to say, we don't have the money for that. Not only did the problem not happen with Clinton, but Clinton was the most progressive energy president ever. Oil was basically the same price per barrel from the time he took office to the time he left.
The real problem started in 2006/7 with the Dem Congress. I hate when either party holds the economy hostage for political gain .. "Let me be clear". That is exactly what the Dem Congress is doing.

The thing that really has me fucking livid is the fact that it seems like EVERY SINGLE Liberal Democrat in the entire United States including Congress wont stop with all of their "end the war" bullshit. We have technically won the war already(Our politicians just haven't won it yet). Lets fix the economy and lower gas prices. Those should be the tops 2 concerns PERIOD.

The oil companies gave him the money because he wants drilling and Obama wanted no drilling at all and then he changes his mind of having limited drilling. Democrats in Congress refuse to come back to vote for the bill, not even debate on it. And at least he won't tax the Oil Companies that could result into higher gas prices as well as taxing us a lot more during an economic corruption thanks to Congress. McCain 08!

Hi error000. Some common sense stuff does help save gas in a person's gas tank. Making sure maintenance - properly inflated tires - is up to date, slowing down and following the speed limits more closely, only using auto air conditioning when needed, and scheduling trips to cut down on the unnecessary of trips all makes gas go farther. People can make the decision to consume less, recycle more and sign up for wind-green-electric power. Plant a tree every year.

I also believe that it is not possible for the United States to achieve total energy independence. People would have to curb their consumption, and are not committed to, or eager, to do that. You just watch and see-as soon as the gas price comes down a bit-and it will-people will go and get the gas guzzlers again. This environmental stuff has been warned about since the 70's, and people haven't listened. The problem is not a new one. Communities still throw away MOUNTAINS of trash each week.

I was hearing in the news that communities are going to try to PAY PEOPLE TO COMMIT TO RECYCLING, BECAUSE THEY WON'T. I don't support nuclear power plants, because there are still many issues with them. One is that the U.S.A. doesn't recycle the waste that I hear France somehow does, but stores it due to not knowing what to do with it. They also use a tremendous amount of water. There have been large areas of the USA experiencing droughts. There are not enough cancer studies being done either.

One more thing - It is the MEDIA that is beating the band on this SUPPOSED energy crisis. Why did one oil company experience record profits? Someone is making their money. There are people making quite a bit of money off of this SUPPOSED energy crisis - such as CF bulbs that are dangerous to the environment if not thrown away properly. There is trouble with the environment, and has been reported on for awhile. Fear can cause some to get rich and collapse banks.

People need to slow down, consume less, recycle more, buy energy efficient appliances, turn off and unplug stuff that isn't being used, pay off-close-and cut up credit cards, and put money aside-be more mindful in spending. - feed the pig com - Plant a tree every year. Al Gore recommends much of this stuff in his film what everyday people can do.

Profits are good and in a free market more competition will come to provide us with even better service at a reasonable price to fuel our vehicles and homes. When government interferes and increases taxes is when you better be careful or our supply will be limited and we fill be forced into behaviors that we do not want in a free and open market.
