I noticed this video is about 4 1/2 years old, so, as a pre-op (11 days to go) I'm wondering how much of the weightloss has she maintained and has she needed any surgery to remove excess skin?

Lets all just pause for a moment here..we do always keep in our minds that the weightloss "effect" is something everyone experiences after this surgery? Ofcourse the "immediate" effects are obvious to everyone, but what the longterm effects are, will depend solely on the patients will and efforts...wich is a completely different story i would say. Why does the film stop after she has lost "all" of her excess weight i wonder..thats not completely how this surgery works!
@mybluebelly yup my dad got it and he is ALWAYS throwing up almost every other day.. but he cant eat bread anymore, his stomach feels weak when he eats meat so he cant eat very many meats anymore, and he has to drink slowly and ALL DAY bcuz he has to stay hydrated, he already went into the hospital for dehydration... but one of my moms docs said one of the main things these ppl lose are there muscles!... thats not good. but they look great after! my dad got it cuz he needs neck surg.bt was 2 big
@mybluebelly Well im not sure what you mean by throwing up. Its kinda hard to throw up when there is like gazilch to throw up. You do realize that gastric bypass patients have a very very small volume capacity indeed. The new "stomach" if you will, has a capacity of ca. 30ml (very very little) This does increase somewhat as time passes, but they must be very aware of it. Why he can`t eat meat i don`t know, he does need all the protein he can get in there..neck surgery? Duodenal switch surgery?

@Carrol1225 actually there are people who Can Not lose weight no matter the amount of eating right and such. my wife has been on a steady diet and exercise plane for 5 months Not 1 slip up, yet hasnt lost any weight... her body uses whatever food she eats for storage.
@carrol1225 when she was 17 the only way she could lose weight was through starving, cant store what doesnt go in. i think you should do a bit of reasearch before asuming something like this. im not being rude. and i understand there are lazy people, but 99% of people that get the surgery CANT LOSE weight.

@MMArtist99 Im sorry I have to correct you. Eat a whole wheat bagels with low fat cream cheese at least twice a day, drink that with a sugar free red bull. Sit ups and curls are a must. Also add long distance high impact exercises like a brisk 5 mile run.
Congrats, she´s certainly feeling a lot better right now, which is great!! She´s looking really beautiful!! It´s just a bit of a shame, that gastric surgery was necessary to stop her from over-eating. Would have been a lot better, if she could have handled it without this! It´s an intrusion to the body for something to be dealt with in the mind actually. But it´s good that it happened anyway!
I'm going to a bariatric care center today for an orientation into the program. I am hoping to be getting gastric bypass surgery by the end of the year or early 2012. Your video put a smile on my face with these beautiful results and I am now looking forward to this even more.

she looks good but what people dont realize is after bypass you still get all the diseases as if you were still fat its better to lose weight the natural way because you lower risks of heart attacks and diabetes and all that stuff that comes with being fat

Your wife really is beautiful and I imagine she is feeling so much better since she got rid of that extra weight! I had gastric bypass (Fobi Pouch) and have lost 98 lbs. I feel sooo much better and My heart is lighter as well! So happy!

@wiccanwyz Just read your comment... You know, it is a huge life-changing surgery, and while there are some risks as with any major surgery, the health benefits far outweigh the risks! So many health risks are removed when you get down to a healthy weight. God bless your husband and I pray for a safe recovery!

amazing! I just told my wife that I wish that I could get GBS. I just can not loose weight. I work out, walk (used to jog) and tried to eat right. I might loose 10 r 15 pounds but then I'm at a stand still. I'm trying to put a 38 inch waste into 32 inch pants. It ain't easy.

Lovely and I thank you so much for sharing. I am trying to get my son to have this surgery. He needs to lose about 200 lbs. and for some reason he is reluctant to have it. I know several friends and family who have done well, so not sure unless he's just afraid of not waking up. He's only 33, so what a dreadful burden at such a young age. Its good to be in shape..even i was suffering from obesity and i can't work out in a gym. I came across a program which said it works...I tried it out and i think I am in pretty much good shape now.
Such motivation for me to lose this 300 pounds of extra weight that I'm carrying, and I'm going to do it right here on youtube! However, I'm going to do this without surgery! Wish me luck!:)

WOW, great video and great effort from your wife. I had GBS almost at the same time, August 2007, came down from 385 to 198, from pants size 60 to 34, and I KNOW how happy Rebbeca should feel. Its a fight every day since I eat for almost any reason, but i feel great and keep exercising. Stay safe.

I am myself currently considering weight loss surgery, i am only 17 but i have put a good thought into this and i think it would be best for me (this is my last resort i have been through many other things)
i have a condition called myasthenia gravis that affects my muscles so i can't do that much exercise for long, there is many other difficulties with it

And I'm a person who ABHORS social BS (about being "thin and 'beautiful'")...she just really looks BETTER!
Please let me/us know if she FEELS better- joints, heart, walking around, just "being", etc....

I've been a certified trainer for about 11 years now so I figured I'd give some advice.
Space is limited here so anyone who wants to learn more HONEST info, I recommend that all my clients read the six pack system by Mike Geary.

HOW TO LOSE FAT
1) Cut out carbs in the evenings (eat low "GI" carbs throughout the day)
2) Choose exercises that burn the most calories (NOT sit ups and curls)
Ex. Squats, Lunges, Pull Ups etc.
3) Perform "HIIT" to boost metabolism.

amazing! I just told my wife that I wish that I could get GBS. I just can not loose weight. I work out, walk (used to jog) and tried to eat right. I might loose 10 r 15 pounds but then I'm at a stand still. I'm trying to put a 38 inch waste into 32 inch pants. It ain't easy.

Lovely and I thank you so much for sharing. I am trying to get my son to have this surgery. He needs to lose about 200 lbs. and for some reason he is reluctant to have it. I know several friends and family who have done well, so not sure unless he's just afraid of not waking up. He's only 33, so what a dreadful burden at such a young age. Thanks again for the inspiration and hope Becky is feeling as beautiful inside as she looks outside.

Its good to be in shape..even i was suffering from obesity and i can't work out in a gym. I came across a program which said it works...I tried it out and i think I am in pretty much good shape now.

My husband and I want to get it as well... he is 6'3 290 I am 5'7 and 220 diets dont really work...working out does but we dont really have the time with our schedules...now its just saving the money and waiting until the day our lives will change.... you guys look great and congrats!!!

Cool video! My wife is having gastric bypass in July. So, is it kind of weird seeing her so different? Is it kind of gradual and you don't really notice day to day, or...I mean, what's it like from your perspective? I've been with my wife 15 years and love her the way she is...now she will look totally different. Is it cool, or strange, or what do you think?

WOW, great video and great effort from your wife. I had GBS almost at the same time, August 2007, came down from 385 to 198, from pants size 60 to 34, and I KNOW how happy Rebbeca should feel. Its a fight every day since I eat for almost any reason, but i feel great and keep exercising. Stay safe.

I am myself currently considering weight loss surgery, i am only 17 but i have put a good thought into this and i think it would be best for me (this is my last resort i have been through many other things)
i have a condition called myasthenia gravis that affects my muscles so i can't do that much exercise for long, there is many other difficulties with it
but yeah i just want to hear your opinion on my matter, keep a open mind in my case and so will i thanks...
