  • Great exercise! I like to do it on the chin up bar. You can use bicep grip to start and as you improve change to overhand wide grip and straighten the legs more as you lift up. Engage the lower abs by curling the pelvis up as opposed to just lifting the knees up from the hips

  • I like this exercise I have a lot of clients do this at least once or twice a week. Legs straight out & also then switch to knees to the chest.

  • I agree, leg raises from the power tower or hanging leg raises from a pull up bar are the best. They will work both lower and upper abs. Check out my abs, I never do sit ups or crunches. And hanging leg raiases feel so much better than doing sit ups in my opinion.

  • No, your at a pretty healthy weight and have a pretty low body fat percentage so I would just start working you "may" have to change your diet a bit thought depending on a lot of factors like where some of your fat is etc.

  • well...in our boxing training we end up doing about 1000 reps in different sets in a single session...along with few thousand punches and some five thousand skipping for conditioning and stamina

  • the actual abs excercises only contributes about 20% of the total. Abs is one of the easiest place in ur body to put on muscle. 80% is down to having low body fat. So if you want six packs, stay away from high calories/excess carbs/sugar/animal fat and do occasional cardio. You wanna try and get <10% body fat.

  • OCCASIONAL cardio wont work, you'll need a consistent program, prefferably with weight training included.

  • weight training isnt necessary for abs actually. We're talking ONLY about abs here, so which means, diet, cardio and ABS workout. Also, by ''occasional'' i meant daily 30mins+ post workouts, and once a week full cardio workout.

  • yah, But i find that if you got raising your leg up highed to your chest then lowering slowly your feel it on your lower abdominal

  • it only works your abs when your legs get past a 90 degrese angle with your body! try getting your legs or knees as close to your chest as possible.

  • haha, well if you really want good abbs, you gotta get with a program bro. Vince's program is very effective. Doing 100 crunches a day isn't really the way to go. As Vince says, you gotta do about 10 reps (so use weights) so that the 10th rep is bringing you to muscular failure. Watch your food! get a mealplan! And don't do them every day, you gotta give muscles rest to grow and restore. scoobysworkshop . com has some good exercises. check 'em out ;). good luck.

  • i wouldnt eat, only because for me the food and water swash around and some times i would get acid reflux.. but try eating and if it dosent bother you your fine...if you do eat make sure you burn it off.. and keep in mind you do lose 2 ~3 lbs when you sleep

There are programs out there that some potbelly dude in a white lab coat dreams up that looks good in theory, but does absolutely zilch to get you real results.
