Mmm I dunno, I'm still skeptical. It looks like blocking the animal's vision is the key. All the animals still struggle before their vision is blocked, by their ears or by the ground. No offense intended, its just what I get from this video.

@prezoftheworld Closing the animal's eyes could indeed bring a calming effect (proven scientifically). But if you try to notice it more carefully, some of the animals in the video are already calm even before their eyes are closed by just those words uttered. ( 06:33-06:57 )

Closing the eyes is part of the mercy, and it makes them calm even more.
