I like the Fireflash....A nice piece of design work for a hypersonic plane for the mid 21st century done at a time when Concorde was in the planning stage . Thunderbirds must have been great fun for the creators.
It really was of it's time. In the mid 60s, many aerospace concepts were being studied for hypersonic airliners. Fireflash used nuclear engines which were actually studied for long duration missions on bombers. Burning kerosene or liquid hydrogen was replaced by high powered heat exchangers within the engines to create enough temperature to run the gas turbines. Lethal if the plane crashed though.....
