I can understand the misconduct, but the suspension seems a bit excessive especially seeing what has been let go. As an aside, I am not a fan of either team so I have no vested interest, except to say that yes it was a penalty, but I think the severity of it was not as major as a 3 game suspension.

Should have been a 2 minute minor for elbowing, not 5 minutes, game misconduct, and 3 game suspension. And if you're gonna argue about his reputation, he has never been suspended before this. If Paetsch actually tries to embrace the hit, or lay a hit on Laraque himself, the elbow doesn't even come near his face, but instead he puts on the brakes, which results in his body being lower and leaning in towards Laraque, and an elbow that would normally hit him in his chest or arm (if he tries to lay a hit) ends up hitting him in his face. Laraque didn't even swing his elbow, it's just up.
