  • I believe this is the combination of two flashback scenes that Jane has while she is staying with her cousins.

  • @sdragonrider - I feel really stupid, but when I watched the show on YouTube, the persuasion part ends when he begins to caress her neck. Doesn't it?

  • @sdragon rider - great clip. But can you tell me why this clip longer than the one I saw on the actual mini series? Where does the additional footage come from? Thanks!

  • @designchik its the next episode. both scenes are in the middle of the episode

  • Can anyone tell me why this scene is longer than the one in the actual mini series? Where is the extra footage from?

  • Oh God yeah

  • In the book there was no "bedroom scene" after the wedding with a wacky proposal of living as brother and sister. There was a "library scene" where R is trying to persuade Jane to stay and he explains his past and suffering - he does seduce her a little with kissing, but then he turns violent. He threatens her by "trying violence" if she doesn't listen then grabs her painfully that she's physically exhausted. I don't blame the actors in JE2006 or JE2011 but the screenwriters.

  • This is terrible, the guy is a freakin creep, she would never have allowed him to pet and touch her like that, how DARE HE!! His just a lustful moron, hate this version...

  • And, err, separate bedrooms? Lol

  • Woooooooooooww Toby Stephens is a Man with big M

  • I actually liked this version of jane eyre but I guess I'm the only one who finds this scene kind of weird ...

  • @lenchen1994 lol what do you find weird about it? :)

  • @sdragonrider don't know :D but it just doesn't fit in my imagination of what that scene should be like... when it comes to his I have to admit I prefer the 2011 version

  • @lenchen1994 I haven't seen the 2011 version yet :/ I want to though

  • @sdragonrider you should! I know many people don't like it because they left out a lot but I actually love it :)

this is the "break up" scene from 2011 : /watch?v=8JrJ47x-Ypg

  • @lenchen1994 thank you for the link :) its a very interesting version.. it seems pretty close to 2006

  • @sdragonrider the 2011 Rochester is to die for<3

  • I know i'm commenting too much, but I just had to say this. If this is the scene before she leaves to see her dying aunt, he doesn't kiss her. Until after she becomes jealous of Miss Ingram. Though I would of preferred they kept that part, I liked this scene A LOT

  • @JayLynnization dont worry about commenting too much ;) i love the feedback. this was after their almost wedding that was interrupted and jane learned of the secret crazed wife rochester kept hidden. i wish theyd made a pg-13 or R rated version of this scene lol....*blushes*

  • @sdragonrider

So I have just discovered. Yes, I finished Jane Eyre, oh my lord I wept so much but it was a happy ending I am glad Mr. Rochester and Jane married.

  • I dare say, this Rochester is much better. From when (and I still am mind you) reading Jane Eyre I saw Mr. Rochester as a man of many attitudes. Passionate, formal, almost insane, no not insane, but desperate in a way of passion for Jane er something of the like. Not crazy, but very moody as Charlotte wrote. This is very good.

  • Ummm, did anyone else faint or follow the motion in which Mr. Rochester laid Jane down....

  • I like this Mr Rochester... but i love the Mr Rochester of Michael Fassbender!! :D :P

  • Oh my God. I was going to go to sleep, but I can't stop watching this over and over again. It's such a perfect scene, you can really see how they both feel. I also love how Jane is panting (well, Rochester is literally lying on top of her, what else could you do?). This is like the greatest love scene ever. I'm not so sure if I could control myself like Jane does in that situtation... :D

  • This scene is not in the book, and far from it. I loved the dialogue in the book between Rochester and Jane after the wedding, but still, this is a great scene because it portrays the inner struggle Jane had. Yes, she had iron principles and morals but it was very hard to live up to them. In the book, the morning she was leaving, she continuously doubted her descision to leave him. I really missed that struggle in other adaptations.

  • Oh god he looks like he's eating her face. Like literally licking her face completely. Seriously and the noise he makes sounds he like hes chewing for some reason But its still a nice scene though.

  • yuk i hate kissing scenes

  • although not faithful to the book, I think this is a beautiful scene.

  • When he lightly strokes her neck I find my own breathing affected. Toby Stephens is amazing in this movie!

  • 3:05 Rochester nom da face!

  • Good Lord...Just make me together with my Rochester...Please Lord please...

  • I love Jane Eyre and this man is simply god amazing :) love it!!,

  • With this scene, who cares about the comparing the movie with the book? really?

  • Am I the only one who thinks that it sounds like he's eating her face?

  • @angelflight2k6 hahaha!

  • I like how its so quiet and then you hear this strange woman goin "oohoo" at 2:50! iT startled me soo bad I yelled at the computer "WHY U BE CREEPIN'?'

  • @frantimarley Lmao I was thinking it was Jane's intake of breath...

  • @frantimarley it was Jane crying in another scene

  • @frantimarley

i think in the full movie that's where it cuts to the scene of her sobbing

  • @StarDust0293 @frantimarley I'm sorry about that-- I forgot she was sobbing in the next part

  • i think the director didn't read the book!!

  • I came here to masterbate

  • he shouldn't have said anything about that villa business....

  • @clarkindee LOL yeah, i know-- much less mentioned that they could live as brother and sister lmao! After being that close to him sexually, i don't think he'd last long and then they'd be back to square one....

  • @clarkindee it wasnt in the book :P

  • His hand makes my heart race!

  • Even though this is my favourite version of Jane Eyre Dalton made a better plea...

  • Does he really "dare her to say it"? like triple dog dare?

  • @Mizzy3030 Lol yeah, he dares her to actually admit she doesn't love him.. She can't deny it, but she can't manage to stay either... Not sure who to feel worse for- they both broke each others hearts.

  • I know that this is so not how this conversation happens in the book and I do have to admit that the 2011 version of this scene is far more accurate and emotional... but DEAR LORD that was hot....

Where can I find a man who can kiss like that???

  • i swear to god, why aren't men actually like this?

  • @lilliesfortea Maybe these men belong in scripts to keep the bar high for real guys lol ;) the book was written by a woman, remember-- fantastic men seem to exist only in our imaginations, because the real ones have around 30% of what we dream of and the rest is their personality. That's my opinion. It's how well they play that part of them we dream about that makes us fall for them.

  • Sou apaixonada por esse livro já li mais de 10x!!! Queria tanto que essa serie passasse no Brasil!

  • I have seen like 10 versions of this movie, and i have read the book also, and this is by far the BEST version . Far more better than the 2011 version too !!

  • Never thought I would be turned on by a Jane Eyre scene.

  • This is my favorite version of Jane Eyre! OMGOSH, Toby Stephens is so amazing here. They both are. I feel faint just watching this. So amazing.

  • THIS SCENE IS TOO FARFETCHED IT WAS NOT PORTRAYED LIKE THIS IN THE BOOK AT ALL.THEY MADE IT VERY SEXUAL WHILE IT WAS ONLY TOO EMOTIONAL.I DONT LIKE THAT THE DIRECTOR ALTERED SO COMPLETELY THIS BEAUTIFUL SCENE.WATCH TIMOTHY DALTON IN THE 1983 ADAPTATION,THAT IS CALLED ACTING AND SO FAITHFUL TO THE PLOT OF THE BOOK

  • @annetekoul I think that was the purpose of this series was to make it sexual. At least according to the interviews of the actors. If you want to watch a version that is close to the book then watch the one with Timothy Dalton's or Orson Wells. What's interesting that in the book it mentions Mr. Rochester having many mistresses but there is no mention of them in the film only Adele's mother.

  • How in the world does she resist him?

  • @ProjectREL Lol I honestly couldn't tell you ;) I couldn't tell him that I would stay and then run away... When a man begs you to stay with him like that...you just can't turn away, unless you have stone solid resistance...

  • my favourite version with toby stephens ....great job! bravi!

  • Do u think that Toby or Ruth read all this here? I wonder

  • At 3.25 he says 'you complete me' or what a man he really loves her. That line sends shivers all over my body.A man only says that to u when he really loves u do u agree?

  • Unattractive? Have you seen this Rochester? Pleaseeee...

  • Totally watching/ researching everything there is about Jane Eyre. Read the book in school, and when I discovered they were re-making the film I read it again, and watched this through twice. I cannot believe how hot this Mr Rochester is....speechless. By far my most fave sceen. It's not even that explicit, and I think that us what makes it work. You think of what could happen! :p I wish there were some sort of forum. Be on that all day 24/7!!!!

  • I have read Jane Eyre over and over and over since the age of 13 and since watched every movie or series made, I am now, I hate to say it '47'. How Toby Stephens portrays the part of Mr Rochester knocks me for six every single time..the man has acted with every fibre of being in his body. You could turn down the sound and watch his face, how he holds his body or the tilt of his head and know exactly how he is feeling or the tension in the drama. Brilliant Mr Stephens just brilliant.

  • This is probably one of the most sensual scenes i have ever seen. Sensual because there is so much sexual chemistry and attraction, and they only express some of it here..In other words, <3 this version :)

  • Thanks for that

Wouldn't it be so great in this world if every woman had a man like mr Rochester or Toby for that matter

  • Im in love with this Jane Eyre, Toby and Ruth are such good actors. But i would

like to know what does he say to her at 3.26 i still cant understand. Please if u can get an answer for me.

  • @mazzie50 He says, "What about now? What do you say now?"

  • @sdragonrider As he is pressing his hard d...k up against her. LOL

  • @lassenelle LMAO he's a pretty good actor is he wasn't seriously hard...

  • hes a hot sweaty animal xD

  • I want my own Mr Rochester!! lol Toby Stephens is HOT in this movie!! <3 xx

  • @gib1jack Lmao yeah, I think the fact that all this sudden soulfulness from Rochester makes us fall in love with him just for the fact that you put yourself in Jane's shoes and as he warms up to her, you warm up to him lol. He definitely was the right choice of actor for this version of the movie :) Never seen the actors/actress Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson before, but I must say they make an excellent team :)

  • @gib1jack Amen !!!!!!

  • As if anyone would want sedate and traditional with a man looking like that. Damnnnnn he is finnnnneeeeee

  • Well I'm sure that wasn't the wedding night that Jane and Mr. R were expecting...

  • @KarliMarieRoberts Really? LOL! I hope that you're mom didn't find out what exactly was in this video,if you know what I mean! :D

  • @Schoolgirl325 lmao its not like it was bad... *eyes searching* :D

  • @Schoolgirl325 I don't think she cared about the video. She looked at me and thought: "My daughter's gone mad." It was funny cause at dinner she kept looking at me weird. I think she just thought I was a little off my nut. :D

  • why is rochester sooooooo hot and sooooooo unatractive in the book???? omg im gunna watch this evry day for the rerst of my life! who agrees?!?!?!

  • @WhatWhatCrapShow Totally! Let's do it go Mr. R!

  • @ZeniePie12 yeah-yuh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • When is this scene supposed to be??

  • I just saw the newest version of Jane Eyre and I have to say that was my least favorite version. I enjoyed the different versions of Jane Eyre with Dalton, Hurt and of course the best version, Toby Stephens. But the new Jane Eyre couple were so "heatless", it was disappointing. They were produced by BBC films too, which is responsible for this version. What happened?!?

  • @Peliza1012 I agree with your opinion of the new Jane Eyre. So much is cut out that you don't believe their relationship. I think the characters were played very well, but cutting this amazing story to only 2 hours meant sacrificing way too much. So much time was spent on "silent" scenes with no dialogue, like when she's walking on the moors. Yes it's artistic, but it doesn't help the story. And honestly, after Toby Stephens... there's no going back!!!!

  • @musicalmeg19 Oh good! I'm glad someone agrees with me...I was worried that I was just a bit biased. Overall the movie was good but it just didn't give me butterflies in my stomach like other versions. BTW, I'm a bit bummed they recast Toby Stephens' role on Prime Suspect, I was getting excited about being able to see him on an American TV series every week.

  • @musicalmeg19 i agree with your opinion, and thank you, for giving credit to the new film. indeed, i too, felt that the characters were well played but unfortunately screen time was short, insufficient to portray the depth and passion of the emotions between the two.. more artistic yes, but it definitely could have been so much more if it there was more time to develop the story holistically and delve deeper into the complexities of J and R's emotions.

  • @Peliza1012 haven't seen the new version yet, not out here till the 9th but will be first in the queue. have to disagree with you about Hurt, I hated how he played wonderful mr rochester, he missed the humour in the character and there was some..he was deep but he also had a fun side and this is comes out best in the 2006 version with TB & RW. The worst ever Jane Eyre was, in my opinion the 1934 film, if you dont believe me youtube it, its enough to make a person cry.

  • what do they say from 3:29 to 3:42?

Lol i cant seem to tell xD this scene is just too hot

  • @awesomesharon7 Lol yeah, I love that part. I honestly had to watch that part a few times to understand it lol.

Rochester: You cannot leave me. You cannot leave me, confess it.

Jane: No, I won't leave you.

  • @sdragonrider Thank youuu :)

  • @awesomesharon7 You are very welcome :) (btw- sharon is my name too lol)

  • Comment removed

  • @awesomesharon7 Actually, I think Jane says "I will...I will leave you" But lets all watch it again, and again, and again--just to be sure ;)

  • @awesomesharon7

"You cannot leave me. You cannot leave me, confess it."

    "I will leave you."

  • I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!

  • When his hand slides down her neck, i seriously fainted! NO JOKE! My mom freaked and said, "WTH? Did you hit your head?" And I said, "No... I was watching Jane Eyre." She looked at me like I had three eyes! HULARIOUS!!

  • @KarliMarieRoberts Lmao thats pretty amusing. I used to watch this scene over and over again lol

  • @KarliMarieRoberts

"WTH? Did you hit your head?" And I said, "No... I was watching Jane Eyre."

    ROFL

    made my day :D

  • @KarliMarieRoberts HAHAHA oh gosh. but seriously, i know what you mean with the whole hand on her neck thing going on..oh boy. who could've known that those slight gentle movements could be so powerful? ;D

  • @Sundriesandetc Hey, Rochester never fails to get on my good side. :-)

  • I'm just going to say, hot, hot, hot! I love how they didn't follow the book at this part, it felt more powerful like this! in the book, Jane won't even let Mr. Rochester hug her but i love this because like i said, more powerful! toby stephens plays a phenomenal Mr. Rochester!

  • Have you read the book? He kissed her countless times when and after he proposed....and after the wedding when she locked herself in her room, he said is she hadn't opened the door, he would have broke it down. He carried her when she fainted and almost crushed her by holding her, while he begged her to stay....

This book had passion - and though these events are (minorly) different, they show the sexual tension between the characters, and thus, stay faithful to the story.

  • @fancy0face Of course I have read the book, that's why I made the comments that I did. I didn't say that there was no passion between them, but it was not as open as depicted in this version. This was Victorian England, public display of affection between men and women, married or not, was simply not done. This is what I dislike about movie versions of books, they have to bring sex into everything. No doubt the passion that they felt for each other was there, but it was covert, not overt.

  • @fancy0face but this scene wasnt in the book right? I havent read it in so long, but I dont remember this.

  • @fancy0face Thank you-- this actual scene wasn't in the book per-say, but it does show the passion between them

  • Best version of "Jane Eyre"!

  • Rochester is like ah mazing.. All these old novels have the most amazing leading male characters. *sigh* why do they only exist in fiction?

  • this scene does not exist in the book...there was no physical contact between them whatsoever.!

  • Comment removed

  • @Lee05211 Im not complaining ;)

  • it's far better than every, and i mean every (!) other "version" of jane eyre, and it's because they totally have the chemistry which is needed in a movie adaptation. jane eyre is absolutely great!

  • Toby Stephens, oh my God!!! What an actor, he is so expressive, so convincing, so passionate.. A perfect Rochester!!! Wonderful adaptation, I was smiling all the time, everything was exquisite! Oh, I love BBC so much for giving us great period drama in general:)

  • I'm sorry but this guy is creeping me out lol

  • I love the way he sounds like he's going to cry, around 0:42, it made me want to cry, knowing that she was going to leave him.

  • This is a very important, but most of all emotional and heart-rending scene. The book portrayed it in a similar fashion, but of course reading the books always gives a more detailed and accurate portrayal of the story. Nevertheless, this is very well made, and the actors are tailored for the roles :)

"I will love you until I die.."

  • I <3 Toby Stephens:)

  • This 2006 version of Jane Eyre is by far the best I have ever seen. Toby Stephens knows how to make love to a woman without any nudity. Wow!!! I have never seen a love scene like this in my entire life. Gave me the jitters!!!!

  • this part isn't really in the book. She was too virtuous for this. Although I love this part I don't think it was suppose to be that intense.

  • I didn't know there was this much lovemaking in Jane Eyre..but It does spark a hint of fantasy in here...lol.,very dramatic. My most favorite heroine..JE

  • om nom nom

  • Hot scene! What does he say at about 3:35? You cannot leave......

  • @carolynjc1 He says "You cannot leave, confess it"

  • I DON'T LIKE THIS JE ADAPTATION!WHEN DID JANE AND ROCHESTER FIND THEMSELVES ON BED?THE SCENE IS TOO FARFECHED.TO ALL THE FANS OF JE CHECK OUT 1983 ADAPTATION WITH TIMOTHY DALTON AND ZELAH CLARKE

  • @annetekoul Why are you screaming? - Well, the scene is embellished (as well as condensed and abridged - this is a film adaptation!), but in the book they were on his chair, and they did kiss and touch - check it, it's chapter XXVII. Remember, he is close to taking her by force there, he is mad in his despair and passion! This is more like the sweet version...

Timothy Dalton is good in the 1983 version but for the last part, which is boring and lifeless, just as Zelah Clarke's portrayal of Jane

  • @annetekoul I agree with you completely. This scene was added in order to get modern viewers more interested in the plot. (see my comments above to fancyOface) The 1983 version was the truest version of the book. The dialogue is almost verbatim. Dalton's interpretation of Rochester was spot on!

  • HOW DRAMATIC I LOVE IT.I WOULD NEVER LEAVE A MAN LIKE THAT MY HEART WOULD MELT!!!!!

  • La main de Rochester sur le cou de Jane.... OMG!!! Comment peut-elle résister!???

  • It's not exactly true to the book (some of the dialog is in the book, but the making out on the bed...not so much) still I'm glad this scene exists. For my fantasy life if nothing else...

  • Is it just me, or when he kisses her does he grab her face like he's drinking a bottle...? I was all "Damn, let the girl breathe, man!"

  • @bmbleB95 Lmao this is my new fav comment :D I was trying to figure out what his hand looked like lol. About the breathing- I thought the same thing ;)

  • @bmbleB95 jajajaja

  • I love this scene! I also love how he tells her he wouldn't tempt her into a life of sin, even though he is, himself, a temptation into the life of sin. She's got more willpower than I do that's for sure!

  • I can't decide if I like this one, or the new one better! This one unfolds and builds their relationship better, but it's also about an hour and a half longer, but the new one also has it's little things that I like better. Thank GOODNESS I don't have to choose and can go back and forth in pure ecstasy:)

But no matter what version, book or movie, their love breaks my heart. It's like this book, every time you read/watch it, it takes your heart out and stretches it. Bending and remodeling until

  • I don't know why I find it funny that his hair never moved. I know totally random.

  • Wooowww! That man deserves every actor award there is! I'd leave my husband for him right now! lol <3

  • @niavas whoa now, lets not be too hasty lol.. i think this is one of those scenes where you enjoy the moment, but realize this was filmed and your life is still moving. it took me a few yrs to figure that out. glad you enjoyed :D

  • @niavas Fassbender's future wife = one of the luckiest women on earth

  • @xoarsenalbabyxo3 LOL Same!

  • whew!!!

  • Rochester= "Om nom nom nom" (he's all over her mouth) XD

  • HE IS EATING HER FACE!!! XD

  • These two are too HOT to be Jane and Rochester.

  • One of my favorite books and I know that this isn't accurate (like the 1983 version also) but this version was just as entertaining. Never thought that the touch of the collarbone could be so erotic

  • Comment 1: This scene, movie, book, Edward Rochester are the reasons I am still not married at 29. Comment 2: This has got to be the funniest line of comments on YouTube because we are all in 100% agreement. We are like Siamese twins..umm all 28,777 of us.

  • this is such a beautiful, touchxing scene.

i just love the way he speaks to her and gentle he his when he touches her.

they are both amazing actors, this is the best version i have seen of Jane Eyre x x x

  • I think I can understand where Jane's coming from. She couldn't respect herself if she yeilded to him. She would still be unhappy and feel guilty is she did. Both actors in this scene are fantastic. Their chemistry is better than in any other version.

  • I love the way he says "waiting for my little bird to return" its so articulate! ooh and the way he says "mediterranean"! There's too many!! I just love the ways he speaks then:D

  • @221Verona Lol yeah, I love the way he captivates her, but I laughed my ass off when he tried to make everything "right" againby suggesting they live as brother and sister- especially after that kiss. Lol I bet he wouldn't be able to not touch her very long if she did agree to live that simple life

  • @sdragonrider Lol i completely agree, i don't think he would be able to resist! I do love Rochester!lol

  • OMG how can i have missed this version ? i'll go watch it now!

  • She is a better woman than I because I would have been happily skipping off to the villa and life of sin with Rochester lol!

  • Comment removed

  • What is he saying between 3:47 to 3:58? It sounds like he's saying 'How can your flesh be so soft, you harden me like an iron fist'?? LOL!

  • @Defianna lol I had a hard time with it as well the first couple times I watched it ;). He says "How can your flesh be so soft and yeilding, and yet your heart beat like an iron fist." LOL he means how can she be so appealing and yet so strong willed.

  • @sdragonrider Oh, i thought it was "so soft and alluring" but after watching it again i think your right :) Thanks for clearing that up:)

  • @Defianna lol I like your version better! hehe

  • @Defianna rotfl! If he said that... lol would've been a completely different type of movie.

  • @Defianna "how can your skin be so soft and yielding, and yet your heart be like an iron fist" :D

  • okay' honestly, no matter what he did if i were her i'd forgive him in a heartbeat after that.

  • im with you lol ;D

  • I saw a comment on another video and I felt like re-posting it myself. Credit goes to whoever came up with it.

    "Rochester- om nom nom nom."

That's why I love this adaption!

  • he's got nice hands when he strokes her face and says there is a place i know !

  • He isn't ugly enough to be Rochester lol

  • how many woman nowadays are "tempted into a life of sin"? wow, time sure has changed!! Love these Scene(s)!! Theres a lot to learn from Jane Eyre's character!

  • One word: beautiful.
