  • Just her "walking" on stage alone deserves credit! And the rest, just splendid!!!!!!

  • one of the most beautiful things I've seen... such a chemistry... such elegance

Only the two of them for 2 minutes along with the whole world of ferytailes

  • i love what she's wearing. it must be itchy with all the sparkly stuff but i imagine a simpler version of it would be sooooooo comfy to dance in...... omg.....

  • She is amazing.

  • whats the song called at 6:00

  • i was only five when my mom told me the story of it ...i was fascinated and then dad took me and my bro and sis to a place in which there was Scheherazad and Schehrayar(the prince) as a status a huge one in my country and i looked 2 it like Soooo happy it was so nice the story ,,,and rimsky made a very great music 4 it...i just love it

  • I was 7 years old when I heard my father, a professional violinist, playing the Sheherazade solo at home. That was a gift which had no price. I went on to study violin for the next 10 years. This is without a doubt one of the most sublime and superlative pieces of music ever written.

  • They're Korean?

  • @sorazgurl yes, she is

  • For we, poor mortals, this is a Heavenly sight and sound. Humans actually using their beautiful bodies to tell a story. This helps make up the for very inhumane stories I see on TV or read in the newspapers. Oh...wouldn't this be a beautiful world if all could see and hear these marvelous creations...would/could it change human nature? I wish! Thank you!

  • i would rate this higher than ode to joy

    my fav piece ever

  • Simply beautiful! I love Scheherazade and ballet, the compination of the two is just extraordinary!

  • magnifique

  • I read a novel about this piece! by the Algerian Author Wassini l'Araj! About Ballerina who wants to be Scheherazade...but she dies..

  • over 350,000 viewings. Don't tell me ballet is gone! It's here to stay and to use the vernacular "it's gone!"

  • I'm confused....is Igor Kolb playing the Shiekh or the Golden Slave?

  • @chizzieshark It's Golden Slave.

  • Szecherezada zawsze mnie zachwyca i teraz przy słuchaniu tego utworu maluję Anioła lasu :)Więc będzie wyjątkowy i piękny:)

  • c'est sublime , magnifique

  • She is stunning and the piece is very sexy. I've never seen Scherazade... thanks!

  • Lopatkina is artistic, technical and stunning in performance, but Jiyeon Ryu is so sensual, fragile, trapping, slow- the essence of femininity.

  • Wow!

  • i like it sooooooooooooooo much

  • Oh my god this music. Who composed it?

  • @Mezemme Rimsky-Korsakov!

  • @koeniginreina Thanks alot, and what's the Title of it?

  • @tootruetobetoogood Scheherazade Op. 35

  • is this a Korean ballerina? My favorite korean prima is Sue-Jin Kang of the stuttgart ballet. most incredible men there like Rademaker, Reilly and Mckie have danced with her as the feminine prima of the company.

i enjoyed this girl very much too.

  • @GuillemLover yes she's the first Korean to dance with the Mariinsky ...

  • Why is this so pretty?! I'm playing this. Not to sound showy offy or anything. :/ this is a beautiful piece.

  • @yazzel1012 yea exactly

  • i like it

  • So beautiful!! Love it

  • Im always amazed at how 'easy' ballet looks, epspecially to outsiders, until you try it yourself then your realise why they have so much muscle. kind of the same as people think that yoga is easy.

  • Wonderful!! Wonderful!!!!! BRAVO!!!!

  • THe guy just did like a triple lutz with variation!!

  • It is an outstanding duet. Especially SHE- as though has descended from ancient eastern engravings: so much from true princess and spicy East.

  • simply beautiful.... gorgeous costumes by the way

  • lindos!!!!!!!

    um arraso!

    ,P

  • Just so beautifull.

There is something kind of oriental or Mongolic about some of the great Russian compositions. This gorgeous piece, also Borodin's Povletsian Dances and other reveals something that is not exactly pure European. I guess the Russian culture and soul inherited something more primitive and non-Western which makes it different. It is fascionating and beautifull.

  • Michel Fokine's superb choreography brought perfectly to life.

  • Scheherazade calms my spirit. This is the first time I hear this beautiful musical composition.

  • Is there a piece of music more beautiful than Scheherazade? Rimsky-Korsakov is indeed a music genius and a superb master. His music lives on, remains beautiful, and will never die.

  • Always my very favorite...

  • I hope a ballet puts this on tour and very soon - in my life time at least.

  • Where can I see this live? Or DVD - Extraordinarily brilliant!

  • oh my lord.....amazing.....

  • anybody know where we can get a bluray or DVD of this performance? I tried looking at Amaz.. but no dice, maybe only in Russia? Anybody know how to get this it is awesome and I wanna pay for a legit copy!

  • @ekbart The TV station which aired this program is selling DVD copies. I would be able to purchase one for you so feel free to send me a message.

  • @koeniginreina - How could I see this live? Wow!

  • Ahhhh. Forget belly dance. I am dusting off my pointe shoes...

  • my mother's name is scheherazade...this is a wonderful piece and every time i hear it i wish i could play violin..who knows?maybe i'll have time to learn...anyway thank you so much for posting this.greetings from algerie

  • i love both of the outfits.....they are beautiful w/out sacrficing movement capability, and completely fit the dancer's roles

  • wow i like it!

  • best music to figure skate to everrr.

  • Wow....beautiful.

  • ......I still come back to this film....even after my original post three years ago as the first one here.

  • I absolutely loooove Scheherezade. <3

  • female dancers must love this role. no pointe shoes!

  • @tinymavy pointe shoes are amazingly fun tho :) (at least for those of us who dont get beaten up jst b/c we're wearing thm lol)

  • @tinymavy , totally! xD

This music is just perfect! I hope I don't die before dancing this *_* So sexy, I love it!

  • This has always been the piece that brought me to love Rimsky-Korskov's work.

    Totally beautiful!

  • sultry

  • I listened to this over & over at school the other day (with headphones during MAP testing) and just watched the ballet tonight. Amazing choreography by Folkine, and both dancers are elegant and have executed the parts beautifully. One of the comments said it was not suitable for children and it was like ballet sex! A legendary ballet of the Ballet Russes.

  • Hermoso el video.. cmo se llama la cancion? (:

  • Love this ballet! very stylized!!!

  • Powerful and evocative...one of the absolute best!

  • These two artists could walk over a trash heap wearing burlap and make it look wonderful. I do not tire of watching them. Erotic? Oh heck yes!!! So what , this is what erotic should look like . Not in a vulgar manner . This is eroticism at it's best. With a story and a plot perforned by marvelous entertainers.

I wish I could see this in person. God bless 'em.

  • I'm amazed by the power of this magnificent performance to bring the story of Scheherazade to life. Utterly enchanting...I'm mesmerized.

  • Brilliant! She is absolutely amazing, they both are.

  • Scheherazade es sin duda una de las obras más hermosas q he escuchado. Cuanta pasión ! te pone la piel de gallina, increible!

  • Wonderful!!!!!

  • magnificent music!!! i think it depicts beautifully the arabian world..

and igor kolb is just fantastic

  • Want you badly, Fokine!

  • this song would be unbelievably fun to conduct

  • I'm surprised at the people complaining that the choreography is suggestive or saying it's inappropriate for children. I think it's tasteful and romantic. Swan Lake is pretty clutchy too if you think about it. Most romantic scenes in ballet are, in fact. I think it's great. But then I'm a bellydancer so I guess I don't mind the sex appeal.

  • @AlienAbandoned Hi, I love Belly dance too. Did you try belly dance to this wonderful ballet music?

  • Absolutely right!

  • la música es bellisima, pasional, dulce, melancolica, y su ejecuíón es fantastica, gracias por ocmpartir el video

  • After listening to Scheherazade for teh first time, the next thing I did was to go buy a violin and start lessons.

  • @SophosVI wow, tell me how are the lessons going?

  • I have always been greatly moved by this peice all my life. Combined with these 2 dancers I was overwhelmed. This was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life.

  • @Complaintdesk The violin solos in this piece are perfection. I love them the first time I ever heard it.

  • @Complaintdesk

I so agree with you. This is the most gorgeous dance I have ever seen.

  • @Complaintdesk i totally and completely agree! i have always loved this piece since i first heard it. i always love seeing ice skaters skating to this, but this..THIS is just beautiful!

  • one of the best pieces of music ever. I never tire of it.

  • É lindo!

    Viajei durante toda a apresentação.

    Não consegui permanecer em silêncio...

  • maravilloso ballet interpretando a korsakov, aunque el vídeo en si está poco nítido, pero en cualquier caso se agradece.

  • Dont feel bad we have nothing either... In the southern part of the USA it is all hillbilly or nothing>>>>>>>>>

  • Maravilloso, para m´este es uno de los ballets más hermosos, Gracias por compartirlo. Gina Droghetti de Temuco, Chile.

  • Wish I could see something like this in my st*pid country, or La sacre du printemps or just about anything else but the damned Swan lake.

  • great video... just a little correction: The ballet is based upon the book of Arabian nights about a Mythical queen (Scheherazade) who tries to stop her king from killing ladies one night after he marries them as to avenge for the betrayal of his first wife by telling him all tales of the east.... The book was collected in the time of Islamic ruling and it is mixture of wonderful cultural interactions of Arabs, Indians, Jews and Persians.

  • Really beautiful!

  • Bellisimo, gracias Alberto por enviarlo, saludos.

    SOLE

  • ? are you special?

  • You are blind perhaps? This is Fokine's choreography. Timeless and eternal. You must watch the whole ballet to understand. You have artistic mouth flapping

  • Absolutely glorious! I'm speechless.

  • Lovely piece by Korsakobv, and awsome choreography by Fokine

  • Think of all the practice it takes to get this down for both dancers to get it right, the timing with the music and with each other to make it the masterpiece that it is.

  • agreed, especially at 7:05 with just the violin

  • Please give her some credit, Lopatkina is a principal, she has much more experience. This lady at this time dancing was only a Coryphee , so she still needs time to mature. Besides, Mariinsky Ballet doesn't usually accept foreigner into the company, in my opinion, this young lady must have exceptional talent. Bolshoi & Kirov require not only dancers with great Russian training technique, but with certain body type, they are like "clones".

  • Starting at 6:04...if God allowed greater music to be created...he kept it for himself.

  • Rimsky is my favourite Russian Composer.

  • beautiful music and dancing!!

  • Rimsky wrote, what i consider, the most heartfelt music, ever, IMO. This, I saw live, and never heard better music in my life. Well written and moded.

  • Lopatkina is my favorite but this woman is just the ultimate seductress! Perfect!!

  • Im sure that shes just a normal person and that in the story hes planning to kill her anyway until she starts tellin these stories?

  • beautiful performance, as a dancer, i think the guy should b more macho.

  • Should be more macho

    and less Queen :-))

  • Even if she's gorgeous I prefer Uliana Lopatkina in this role. Igor Kolb is wonderful !

  • OH MY GOD!!! THIS IS SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!! Magnificent... Genious!! Wonderful coreograf, and amazing dancers!!!! LOVE IT *

  • She's so thin and supple and beautiful! The guy is a little scary though. i love 1: 58 or so when she turns and her pants poof.

  • just beautiful!

  • Wow! Beautiful and very sensual!

  • It is more commonly know to us "westerners" as "The Arabian Nights" and gave us such characters as Aladdin, Ali Baba, and Sinbabd the Sailor.

  • the story goes: shahryar (the king) marries a new virgin every night having beheaded the previous one every day. scheherazade, who is very pretty and smart, goes to shahryar and starts to tell him a story and the king is so enthralled the entire night passes. Each night he wishes to hear more stories. a thousand and one nights pass by (and three sons later) the king has been taught morality and kindness by scheherazade and her stories and she is made queen. (short summary)

  • WOW... the coreagrapher had some sexual intentions...

  • obviously you dont know the story ....

  • the music of this ballet is amazing. Different than anything else!

  • BEAUTiFUL........

  • BEAUTiFUL..

  • Fantastic! i love the song

  • scheherazade is meant to be a ballet piece--I wish someone would do choreography for the fourth movement of scheherazade.

  • i played this song in my orchestra class...

    ugh i miss it.

it was a really pretty song

  • Very well done. Scheherazade is great music and the ballet moves fuse with it perfectly. The choreography is tasteful and expressive. Great video.

  • Oh dear god! I bet they ravished each other once they got offstage... This is so hot! It's like ballet sex.

  • It really is a very sexual ballet

  • Wonderful!!!!

  • fantastic... if only an inkling of choreography had somehow trickled down to Disney's Aladdin, our generation would have a much more romantic notion of Arabian Nights :)

  • So true

  • I don't think most of this choreography is appropriate for children. XD

  • thank you i was looking for it for a long time ago....thanks

  • beautiful!!

  • I like this ballet its okay ^^

  • absolutely beautiful and extremely erotic!

  • Russians scar me...

  • for life?

  • SEX..Y

  • I love how they take Rimsky-Korsakov's introduction, and then move to the romantic third movement... It's very interesting.

  • The man in this dance should be 'golden slave', not 'Shah Sharyar'(the king) as marked in the video.

  • You're right. It seems the TV station didn't do much researches. :-/

  • You can find the whole ballet also in youtube. Look for sheherezade ballet lopatkina and you will have the Mariinsky performance in Madrid in 1999 with great Lopatkina and Ruzimatov. Worth watching!

  • what a mystical transformation of myself into Scherezaid

  • wow we did this for a half time show(of course it was a little more lively due to obvious puposes)but unfortunately over half the people in our marching band couldn't play very well.......

  • A magic travel for a wonderful world of orient.

    Wonderful dancers!!!

  • Me he enamorado de la musica de Korsakov desde hace muchos años atraz niña-adolescente;bello ballet sus bailarines me entantan elasticidad, suavidad, romantico, elegante.

  • i played this piece w/ my orchestra sum years ago and it came out pretty well haha

  • music is FLAWLESS! really awesome! I'm doing a project on Russian music...blew me away!

  • i second the orchestra comment, the music sounds like its got words to it i swear. beautiful job they did.

  • one of the best orchestral peices ive ever heard.

  • Bellissimo. Bravi.

  • sooo beautiful. <3

  • these people are in love, at least they dance like they are.

  • Sexy!

  • This is so beautiful. It's like watching a watercolor from a fairy tale come to life. Thank you for this pleasure.

  • stupendous !! The best I have ever seen.
