  • JUST MISSED!!! "For The Good Times" just missed making the Billboard's Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 24 weeks in the Top 100!!!

  • Happy Birthday Mr. Price === classic love song --- and everyone seems to know the words!

  • Ray just had 86 Birthday! what a class act!!!

  • Most of us good ole boys have gone thru what Ray is singing about, that's life. We will make the USA what it once was, Loed willin an the creek don't rise.

  • an absolutely amazing song. such great lyrics and sung with emotion. wonderful

  • Hey Ray I always liked that song,Have a great 2012.GARY V.

  • this tune by Kristofferson, and 'By the time I get to Phoenix' , Jimmy Webb....are 2 of the most saddest songs I've ever heard.

  • everytime I hear this it reminds me of my grandma she loved it !

  • Lets be glad that we had some time together.......beautiful quote!!!

  • gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooddddddddddddddddddddddd job

  • This was my grandma's song and I miss her so bad! Love it!

  • From Smokey

Ya it's a depressing song and so it goes, everything in life is not fair and never will be. I come from this era of sad western style songs. Tear Jerkers if you may however they are nice songs and fit the times they were recorded.

  • I remember as a kid going to the local VFW with my parents, and someone would always play this on the $.25 jukebox at the end of the night. Dad is gone and mom is in a nursing home now, but the song takes me back to those days. Good memories.

  • @MorgansRaiders23 Very Cool !

  • One of the greatest combinations of song and singer ever...

  • This is my favorite country classic from the 1960's-1970's era. It doesn't get any better than Ray Price - sad but beautiful.

  • Don't know what to say but WOW!!!..blast from the past!.grew up listening to ALL the greats;Price,Tillis,Rich,Pride,etc.etc.etc,!!..WAIT!!;Marty Robbins,Roy Clark,Faron Young!..I'm Just gonna' shut-up and listen!

  • one of my fav

  • THIS WAS MY DAD'S all time favorite tune, so smooth and rich his voice my dad would say! I think of you always Dad, but this song really hits home with me .about you! Love you so much and miss you, you were the best Dad ever!! rest in peace Dad

  • there are times when i find myself thinking of this person..and when i hear a saad song my heart goes ischemic. it's true there are certain circumstances when the heart really aches physically at an impending loss or a relationship that went down the drain... and the mind cannot understand it.

  • @berns845 A real bad one will hit you in the gut , literally

  • It's impossible to listen to this song without getting a lump in your throat, and a tear in your eye.

  • Ray Price: The Michael Buble of country music. :)

  • Kris Kristofferson wrote this beautiful song among many other ones. But no one did it justice until Ray Price got a hold of it. Absolutely beautiful song.

  • a beautiful song and voice....this was my mom's favorite Ray Price song, thanks for posting this clip...

  • It is a song about the moment, mindfulness of the moment. And the song writer is? Still alive and touring and doggone it I was not able to see him when he came through town recently. Surely appreciation of something reflects ones own life experience. How it is to be given or to earn it determines the value. "freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose."

  • My Grandfather like Ray Price, I like old School Music like Ray Price, Roy Clark, Frank Sinatra, lot music today is garbage.

  • This is what makes me proud to be from America

  • The days when music was written from the heart and people like justin bieber weren't poisoning the world with their music..god love the graceful country music without people like ray, music wouldn't of evolved like it did.

  • @TheRealMichaelWayson a big amen to that!!

  • @TheRealMichaelWayson justins music is not for me either, but hes just a kid, trying not tryin to be disagreeable but u know music has changed peace bro roger here

  • @mrwarmth100 I know but hey, everyone has their own taste in music bro!

  • @mrwarmth100 also people's interpretation of it.

  • @mrwarmth100 im just a sentimental guy and i hate to see people critisize although im guilty once in a while, you can see by my playlists i like most all music i usally dont comment i think i will go back to that. god bless us all

  • This is such a great song, but I can't ignore the tuning troubles that begin in the strings at 1:09. Shame.

  • great performance

  • An incredible singer right up there with Jim Reeves and Eddy Arnold

  • Ray Price is the Man !!

  • 8 dyslectic people see the thumb symbol inverted

  • @moderndarkage LOL, I agree!

  • I remember my dad singing this song when I was growing up Loved it then And still love it What a smooth voice

  • Looks like the twin brother of Mr Bean that got the good genes!!

  • YUMMO!

  • Kris Kristofferson wrote some of the greatest songs of all time!!!

  • FOR THE GOOD TIMES!! Memories have to be made. My Dad loved Ray Price and I will always llisten to the oldies.

  • al green >>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Classic Ray Price. What a legendary voice.

Check out my version on You Tube at MosesRangelMusic

  • This brings back memories of old Griffith Park in Charlotte. Charlottes Hornets AA baseball owner Phil Howser used to play this song over the loud speaker before the baseball games.....I am sure it was one of his favorites....great memories of yesteryear......

  • True Classic Country Music thanks for posting and sharing with everyone!!!

  • This just makes me so sad. Why is this man dressed in a suit and tie? Why is he singing a song that makes sense about emotions? Why is his voice so clear? Why did the audience applaud? Didn t have a wool skull cap in the middle of July, wasn t a black man trying to re create the great Charlie Pride, ??? Taylor Swift trying to be country? Damn this is so confusing. New Country? My eyes are tearing. Learn the old before you attempt new. Do reserch. You ain t the best, just the newest.

  • A True Country Classic!

  • it gets no better than this,...

  • i love ray price,for the good times gijoe989.

  • Ray Price was known as the Cherokee cowboy and his band was the Cherokee Cowboys. He is a thoughtful, sweet, and genuine human being. He sings for the love of the song. He got lots of awards and made his money. But he'd sing no matter what. For the goodtimes Ray. Love you.

  • ray can still sing. Love my Cherokee Cowboy

  • es el papa de mr been

  • Right up there with Merle, George, Vern, Waylon, Willie, Etc. Etc.

    Ray P.

  • will always be my husbands favorite

  • More talent in his litttle finger than I can imagine. I think he could read the want ads and make them sound good, his talent is just so incredible. Thank goodness Ray Price decided to become a singer. Thank you for this!

  • about the comment about being depressed, this is life pal, people do go thru these things, sure it is depressing, but still one of the best ballads ever written, your in a minority, it sold millions of copies so somebody like it. we all have good days and bad, live one day at a time.....

  • @body0guard jez, grow up and get a life

  • @body0guard I always loved this song, through the good, as well as the bad times. I was married for 35 years to a cheat, forgave, but you ladies know we never forget, lol. He had a brain damaging stroke that left him totally dependent on me, his mind was like a 3 year old. But time and patience worked out fine, he was able to do everything personal on his own. His life was in my hands, all his meds. He passed away in bed next to me, just where he wanted to be. His ashes are still on his side.

  • @body0guard

    You are sooooo right! ODAAT!

  • @body0guard My favorite song of all time!!! Love, love, love

  • @nucmaz What stopped you? Do us all a favor and get it over with.

  • Linda. the times were pretty good weren't they? Jerry

  • I grew up listening to this on radio. WBAP outta Dallas played Ray a lot. We tend to forget about when AM radio ruled the airwaves.

  • For my darling wife......we will meet at the rainbow bridge......

  • ang galing galing

  • um ya'll all know A Green is the is the 1 who wrote this, rite? I would say look him up def a treat!

  • @dnell9889 Al Green didn't write this.. Kris Kristofferson wrote this song.. Al Greena nd Ray Price recorded it..

  • @dnell9889 Al Green didn't write this.. Kris Kristofferson wrote this song.. Al Green nd Ray Price recorded it..

  • @dnell9889

It's a lot like some of AG's songs but as stated above, Kristofferson wrote this song. However, Al's rendition is a close second to Ray's.

  • @WashitaExpatriate LOL dude are you funny...After watching this ....I cant help...but stereotypes are true sometimes...one word...STIFF...Al Green's the best!!!

  • my husband met him this morning...amazing! (FLorida flea market) : ) he's a precious man

  • @sisbe maybe youshould leave florida, something about bugs and fleas

  • Mellow. He simply had the smoothest delivery. Ray Price just stands there, interprets the lyrics, and delivers pure emotion.

I had the privilege of seeing Mr. Price at Renfro Valley about 3 years ago. Well into his 80's then, he still touched my heart. Such class. Such class.

  • This was my dad's favorite singer when I was a kid and I'm now a big Ray Price fan!

  • The Frank Sinatra of Country Music!

  • blai05 only your parents could know why this would be their song. I can imagine there might have been a temporary break-up - or someone else loved one of them. Or they didn't really listen to the words, only hearing for the good times. I know the song, I WiLL Always Love You gets mistaken for loving, when it is actually a break up song I love the Ray Price sounds so meaningful, car

    ing but sad.

  • Someone help me understand. This was my mom and dad's 'song' but... it's a song about breakup lol. It is Beautiful, but kind of fatalistic, one last time with a special person, it's perfect. I guess they were more realistic then. "I'll be here waiting" if you decide to come back...not like today lol. We had an anniv. party for my parents, Mom was ill and I couldn't bear to have them play this song about endings, even tho it was their wedding song... She passed two weeks later. Life goes on?

  • @jblai05 Im sorry for your loss. It was a song my dad always sang to my mom. He is gone now too, but the song brings him back for just a few minutes.

  • I have a CD with Ray Price songs and this is one of the best. I love the lyrics and in these days it is difficult to hear this kind of music.

  • dont look so sad!

  • man, could he possibly sing any more effortlessly? Beautiful.

  • i remember my mother. i love her sooooo muchhh! inay! Mahal na Mahal ko po kayo! salamat po sa lahat! i love you po, Inay!

  • It is truly amazing that he can just stand there and "belt out" this beautiful song...my mom and dad loved him too

  • One of the great voices of all time... such class - Huge fan for a lot of years!

  • Thanks so much for posting. I loved this as a teenager and still do today. It's beautiful. Thanks again.

  • Fantastic voice , but looks a little like Mr Beans twin brother

  • I saw Mr. Price in 1990. What an entertainer!

  • i love this song, it reminds me of my mother she and I were sewing and listening to the radio, this song came on she got quiet and I looked at her and she said she loved this song. then she smiled. I was a teenager then, This is really beautiful,

  • This song was written for the only person who could handle it, Ray Price.

  • I HOPE I CAN SEE THIS WONDERFUL LEGEND. HE WILL BE IN MT. PLEASANT, TX (KLTV) - The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation is pleased to announce that it will host country music legend Ray Price in concert at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, April 2.,. 2011

  • I grew up listening to this mans music...love it even more today...sadly I don't agree with his politics...but his voice is truely a treasure...love that silver fox!

  • THIS VIDEO IS BEST ON "FOR THE GOOD TIMES". HE WAS SO HANDSOME. IT'S A SHAME ALL OF US HAVE TO LOSE OUR LOOKS. I WAS A MODEL BUT YOU SHOULD SEE ME NOW. HE'S LUCKY. HIS VOICE IS STILL BEAUTIFUL AT 85.

  • I saw him yesterday. He is still fantastic at 85!

  • I love real country music. Not the crap they put out today.

  • there are no words to describe Mr Ray Price your the very best of the very best. I love you . Penny

  • He aLWAYS IMPRESS ME WITH HIS LOVE SONGS. HE REMINDS ME MY TENDER YOUTH AND HIS SOFT VOICE MAKES ME FEEL GREAT.

  • Ray Price can still sing at the age of 85. He is a very rare talent.

  • Great song, great singer.

  • Yes, his very BEST! Still so beautiful!

  • The best Ray Price song of them all! Hit no.1 in 1970, and stayed charted for 15 weeks. I'm sure Kris Kristofferson is glad Ray recorded his song! I know I am You Too?

  • It's official, I can't decide.

    PC

  • Wow , can't decide which one I like better, this or the Al green version., Incredible song.

    PC

  • NOT ONLY A BEAUTIFUL VOICE THEN BUT GOOD LOOKING TOO!

  • Saw him live a few years ago at a benefit, the man still has "it" without a doubt.

  • He looks just like game show host Jim Perry.

    He might be his twin.

  • What a voice that man has still and still has his good looks that makes my heart skip a beat. I wish I could have laid my body next to him and my head on his pillow.LOVE YOU RAY FOREVER ..... Pam

  • this was my grandmas fav song, she passed away 2 years ago...everytime I hear this song, i think of her :)

  • My mom and dad's favorite dance song. Played at both of their wakes. They were married 54 years before mom died. Dad passed away 3 years later..missed his life partner and wanted to be with her.

  • Silver Fox happened to be Charlie Rich.

  • The voice from the past but as nice as the present and what a guy. He had some great hits and this is his best.

  • Ray Price was Gay for Tab Hunter for almost five decades.

  • silver fox fan for 40 yrs! Was "blessed" to listen to this as a kid growing up...Love him even more now....

  • george6900 at least the songs back then had a meaning to them plus a melody.

  • So many songs about divorce during this era.... interesting.

  • What a class act, and the voice to go with it, he know's how to sing a song.

  • Legend.

And for the 2 people who disliked this, get a life.

  • damn that dude could sing a song

  • i love this song!xx

  • I love you Ray Price you have always been my favorite and always will be. I was at your concert in Tyler, TX about three weeks ago, you can still sing. Please continue on. GamaRuth

  • i love you Ray Price and always will. You are the best of the best. Penny J.

  • I love Ray Price.

  • What a beautiful way to say good-by to someone. " I'm breaking up with you but do me one more time"

  • great song with meaning

  • Dedicated to Mrs. DoGood

  • The only song I ever heard my dad sing in my entire life. Miss you, Dad. You picked a good one!

  • what a voice!...luv it...

  • Ray Price and Gene Watson...the two most UNDERRATED country vocalists of all-time!

  • I remember riding around with my daddy in his truck when I was little during the 70s and heard this song several times playing on the am radio...along with so many other "real" country songs...oh how I wish I could go back and be next to my daddy like that again..he no longer lives in this world.

  • i really like his songs.. actually I am his fan he's got a very very nice voice...no comparison please!...

  • some guys just know how to end it with a woman, With class and style

  • thank you my first love for the good times, god bless you where you are

  • he fires his words like arrow from bow , with depth impact

  • Always Great singing !!!

    Dick

  • The reactionist posters could better serve themselves if they'd study a dictionary and english composition. I used to be paid poorly, to inflict a form of violence but I soon left that. Thanks for rushing to work too, you speed-drivers. Someone has to pay my Social Security. Maybe think is not possible for them, consider maybe. >70> Oh I see, the posts are gone. Likely blocked his IP also. Good luck.

  • My late wife yes, a veteran, stood transfixed!

  • dont you guys miss these old shows? it sure takes ya back to the good times and our childhoods. i can still remember laying in the floor with some pizza and coke and watching these old shows with my family. back then people had one t.v. and families actually sat in the living room together and visited. today there is t.v.s in every room and nobody speaks anymore. its trully sad times for us old timers. no wonder kids today have no respect for adults. godbless all old timers.

  • Ray Price...classic. What more can be said, so smooth...so full of emotion. This is what country used to be.

  • @lovinspoonful77 what do you mean what makes me think that? He says "Lay your head upon my pillow hold your warm and tender body close to mine" "make believe you love me one more time" how much more of cloaked sexuality can it be? Even if it's not about sex and only about a breakup why would you sing it as a love song to someone? it's not about marriage lasting forever for 80-year olds, it's sad, not a romantic love song.

  • I use to pu on my headphones and lay in front of the stero and listen to my dad's old records and ray price was my favorite at such a young age...very soothing

  • Always liked this song. So sweet yet so very sad. Who among us hasn't felt this way??

  • These are the good times.

You'll look back and think about now, so make more good memories for you to remember. - - -

Isn't it that most people have let go of someone, or something, that makes them relate to the pain in the lyrics? -_-_-

That's what good lyrics do, they help you relate. -_-

If Ray Price wrote these lyrics, he was right, wasn't he?

  • I miss my grandparents so much! I remember when they used to dance to this song when we were little. Boy, how we thought it was funny!!! I cry when I watch this, but it's great. Music was so simple back then, and beautiful.

  • omg, after all these years my wife and I still have a good time

  • @hotmn4u especially when your wife sends you away to Las Vegas for two weeks every Winter and I proceed to run some serious cock up in her fat ass.

  • @yourdickis2limp, you're sick

  • @yourdickis2limp, you are disgusting

  • oh i miss those days of pure ansd meaningfull music ,classic .
