Judging by reading comments on this vid, there seems to be some sort of debate going on. I myself only watch to educate myself about other culturals and how they epress themselves in song and dance.
The problem today is the government of Chile tried to change little by little the identity of rapanui people.I am very concerned with issues that developed in the south Pacific region.some news saying that many Rapanui parents who complain that their children are more intelligent speak in spanish than their native language. This may cause the loss of these languages, since the number of Rapanui people not much.
they should be able to follow the example of a Maori language of New Zealand as the primary language commensurate with the English language.Rapanui language can be primary language in line with the Spanish language.I am a foreigner and did not want to interfere in domestic affairs of chile, but please...because I am very concerned about the indigenous cultures of all people in this world.I love indigenous culture in Asia,Polynesia,America(native american),africa,etc..
@lagodaxnian , I don't think so my friend, All the rapanui people love their culture and they wants to keep the language with them for ever. On the other hand I'm not from Rapanui but I respect the culture deeply, and I learned that respect from the school, Chilean School.
I don't think so my friend, All the rapanui people love their culture and they wants to keep the language with them for ever. On the other hand I'm not from Rapanui but I respect the culture deeply, and I learned that respect from the school, Chilean School.
@lawang1sg These people are the same until a few centuries ago..they all came from the island of formosa (now,Taiwan) who moved to the southeast asia and into the Pacific islands.during their journey to discover the islands that will make the place they live, they met with the tribes of Melanesia and possibly mixed marriages between them.after they found the island which they called Te Pito O Te Henua or Navel of The World (in English),
mixed marriages also occurred with native south american(Remember that the island which they found are closer to the Mainland of South America).I ever read archeologist book,at that time Polynesian women in rapanui had ever been married with native south american men.and their descendants are now Rapanui people. Therefore the Rapanui people now have more physically similar to the native of South America.but their language family remains the same with other Austronesian languages.
Austronesian people who speak Austronesian languages came from the same place and believe it is the island of formosa.but some are saying that the Austronesian people came from Sundaland.
in the FUTURE TAHITI and RAPA NUI MUST GO and SEEK FOR FULL INDEPENDANCE FROM FRANCE AND CHILE. Like they say here in france FRANCE for the FRENCH. Well i would say also TAHITI for the TAHITIAN. Same with RAPANUI. Its times to fly on his OWN.
@MrKg1971 I'm totally agree with you..I was surprised by the people who gave thumbs-down sign to a comment from you..they are showing who they really..They are the people who diligently talk about human rights, but on the other hand they support the occupation.Let me mention a few: French Polynesia, French guineas,Dutch Guinea(Suriname), Netherlands Antilles,American Samoa..lol why they have to add they name in front of a colonial state? (French, Dutch, United States, etc.)
ché pa ce ke font ces cons de marité ici à critiker nos danses maohis..ils ont ke sa a faire eux ...ils ont ka aller se faire foutre eux mems bandes de marités à la con va!! bravo le groupe ! c super!!
Iaorana. I think this is a Tahitian performance. The language seems and sounds like tahitian, and the dance to, are Tahitian, Correct me if I'm wrong=)
And also, aren't Rapa Nui E the Tahitian name for the Island?
Pascua is the Spanish name for Easter Island I know=) But I don't think this is performed in Rapa Nui, it's only the songs name...why cuz of the dancestyle, wich is clearly Tahitian, and the peoples apperance. Cuz in any other ''Rapa Nui'' clip, the people are either latino/a, or mixed...
@Gille87 you stupid, ignorant drag queen bitch. Easter Island Belongs to Chile, but their inhabitants are from Polynesian background you illiterate cunt !! You just need to eat shit and DIE !!. every post you make WILL be erased only because you belong to the third world.

lol, ur the ignorant one...but hey, just keep on going BITCH! ANd by saying that they all are polynesians, are the reason why there are so much hate and racism among the fellow polly! The native rapa nuians came from Tahiti, and the only reason why Rapa Nui'E ''belongs'' to Chile is b'cuz they took it! That doesn't necessarily mean that it DOES! That's just occupation!
Well, they are happily "occupied" ... But I still think you are a low class, trashy, drag queen, pizza face. Could you do something with your face...It's killing me
No one said they are Rapa Nuians, They are ALL polinesians. Tahitians as well as Rapa Nuians. So what's the point?. All of which share similar customs and traditions; it makes sense , doesn't it?.
It's like saying that all Europeans are the same..they are not but they DO share traditions and customs that makes them unique and apart at the same time. Same old deal with the rest of the world.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
well the point was that even though the song is called Rapa Nui, it's not performed in, or performed by the Rapa Nuian's them selves... it's in tahitic language (fenua - tahitian group) and the music, and the dance are tahitian. And polly does only mean that they are from the same area, not that they are the same people! If a person is asian, and you'd say he was chinese when he's korean, then it would be wrong to think: ''whatever, they are all the same, cuz the are all asians!''
Me encanta. Si pueden ver el video que le hice a rapanui y dejar comentario, se los agradecería. Ahí puse algo de información de la isla. Y cuando escucho temas de Rapanui, no sé por qué, me sale agua de los ojos...
