Gandhi was her husband's adopted name.

However, when Nixon became embroiled in the Watergate scandal and resigned, the US government confiscated his tapes as evidence. Soon after that Congress ruled that the tapes should be released starting with Watergate related tapes, followed by everything else. Since then, the US National Archives has released a couple thousand hours worth of Nixon tapes.
