I like this song, but I think the music gets lost in the constant singing. For example, instead of "knowing that you won't be there to answer" you could say "knowing you won't answer". The second gives you more freedom to hold or end singing notes as well as jazzing up the guitar part. It also broadens the meaning - maybe she is there and just chooses not to answer.

This is on the top of my mind because a buddy just trimmed the lyrics of one of my songs and it really is much better.

I'll give this suggestion a try too and see how it sounds. Sometimes the lyrics do overpower the melody and detract from the song itself, so I'll definitely give this a try. Less is more, eh?

I'd love to hear them. I missed a couple of notes on the vocals in this version of the song, but my second recording of it (after this one) was too fast and didn't sound as good. I also got tendinitis in my wrist recently and have to wear a cast for the next few weeks. It sucks! Do exercises before you play or it could happen to you too.
