That's very true about Patti. Thats the only thing she can do is scream and yell. When she starts singing a song, she'll start off singing and then go into this obnoxious yelling for the rest of the song instead of singing the actual lyrics. Aretha still has her yells and screams left, but for her they come and go.

She should let Babyface produce her next album. He writes to the singer's voice as opposed to these new producers that write hits that anybody can sing. This is why the Waiting to Exhale sdtk is the best one ever.

Aretha is not an alto. Aretha Franklin is 2nd soprano/mezzo-soprano. Patti Labelle is a 2nd soprano with a higher range. Both ladies are lovely and are a blessing to the music community, as well as the Black community with their God touched voices. Two original soul-divas.

Patti may scream...but the BITCH can hit a note on her bad days, far more better than REE can on her now good days. But both of them are bad BITCHES. But sometimes Ree can bore you...I've never seen Patti bore anything. I adore both of them tho.

Sorry but Patti is boring to me. Im not a sucker for high notes. I like tonal quality which Patti doesnt have. Thats why she has never sang anything I like.

The thing about Aretha is, Aretha has a whole string of hits over the years. Patti only has a few songs that made it big, and when I say a few I really do mean just a few. They both started there careers about the same time, but Patti's music has never shined like Aretha's. Patti is only praised for her voice not her music. Aretha is praised more for all of her hits and her voice.

I agree 100% the true divas of the time do not have the same voice they started out with which should be expected. But Aretha still can get loose and pounce on you like a tiger if she wanted to. Patti is good but she just screams to much for me. And Diana well I don't know what to say she couldn't sing in the first place to me she just fucked her way to the top

Agree with the person earlier/. patti has a natural high register and scream but thats all she has. aretha has high and low registers and has a full voice. sha may not perform like patti but what she lacks in perfomance she makes up in voice cause anybody can scream

That's very true about Patti. Thats the only thing she can do is scream and yell. When she starts singing a song, she'll start off singing and then go into this obnoxious yelling for the rest of the song instead of singing the actual lyrics. Aretha still has her yells and screams left, but for her they come and go.

Sorry, Patti is not screaming! She just has a natural high register, hence she is a soprano. Aretha has a natural low register - hence she is an alto. They both are awesome for what they do! Why compare them? Just appreciate their genius!

Two totally different artists.Patti is a Robusto soprano aretha is a mezzo soprano so of course aretha has a naturally lower register.Listen to little girls by patti to hear her sing low!

Patti voice still to this day cant touch Aretha's because Patti's singing voice is flat. The one and anly thing that Patti has over Aretha today is her screaming and hitting high notes. But Patti is very empty when compared to Aretha.

No dear, Patti's voice is definitely not still in its prime. None of the divas of that generation are at their prime anymore, but that's to be expected. Patti has some very over-zealous fans, but fact is, for overall artistry, of all the soul divas, Aretha is the tops. She is a complete musician--she sings, plays an instrument, and writes. Patti does not.
