I used to live off Martin Way, my approach was always ignore them completely and ride right out in the lane to make it clear I'm not in the cycle lane, or about to give way. Got a few beeps, but if they're willing to beep, I'm betting they haven't the sense to keep clear.
My favourite one was going up the hill towards Morden. Why oh why would you make a cyclist stop going up hill. I hope the person that came up with them was sacked, clearly an idiot!
What are you supposed to "give way" to? The bollard has an arrow indicating traffic should go to the right, so if you use the "cycle lane" you are disobeying the bollard sign. They seemed to have just made he pinch point into a pinch lane.
who the hell designs these, cyclist haters ? There are some cycle lanes here that have points where it says' cyclist dismount now' at every other junction . No thanks! I will stay on the road at 20/25 mph and be part of the traffic ,
This is an insane design! No way would I ride in that death trap lane.

I bet more than anything it would confuse most drivers (at least the one you tried was segregated, try the open ones when a car comes...).
I love the fact that we have lanes in the door zone...
Now we have lanes at the pinch points...
Next we will have HGV undertaking lanes...?
I think this is a contender for a crap cycle lanes site/gallery.
