I have to agree with the other posters. This "friendship" seems like news.  I think if war is declared, Britain will line up behind the US. I'm unaware of major interest Britain has in Pakistan. Furthermore, in the speech, I didn't hear her describe any new or compelling information regarding Pakistan or the relationship with Britain. She did mention the role of those with dual citizenship who will renounce their association should Pakistan fail to effectively reorganize its government.

This all sounds good globally and for Pakistan but what does Britain get out of this? Trade would happen anyway. "Long standing interests" seems rather thin and presumed as far as both countries are full of humans.

They were long time friends? Am I hearing this right? The partition has done wonders for Pakistan economically, socially and politically right?

I would have to agree with this, Britain and Pakistan, have been big economic partners and hopefully in the future, even bigger economic partners and democratic partners too.
