  • Honduras It was previously known as Spanish Honduras to differentiate it from British Honduras. Honduras became independent from Spain in 1821

British Honduras was a British colony and became on 21 September 1981

Punta is a Garifuna music and dance style performed at celebrations. it arose in last Thirty years of the twentieth century in Belize, Honduras and Guatemala.

But Hondurans widespread punta whit their famous group such as Kazzabe, La banda Blanca, Los Rolands, Los Gatos bravos.

  • LOVE..IT.. ESO SON MIS HONDURENOS....LO TRAEMOS EN LA SANGRE......

  • I think is awesome that you acknowledge that this is Black people music. But Punta is not Honduran, Guatemalan, or Belizian music, is Garifuna Music, the fact that we live in Honduras does not make it traditional Honduran, since Honduras has two type of black people, those that call themselves british and claim they speak english and Garifunas, who live in villages around the atlantic coast.. Now a days you can see Garifunas living in cities as well. Congrats!! awesome Video.. :)

  • @ArtL0v3ly that does not make any sense art, it has to be Honduran music as well, as it blended with other sounds and rithms from the rest of the countries(Belize, Guate, and Honduras, that's like saying, that all spanish music(baladas, tango, boleros, are Europeans ( spaniard), as and the natives didn't contribute anything, the lenguage You Garifunas speak is not Afrikan but a dialect of the Arawak (spoken by the Carib indians), But any how, We are very proud of Your people being part of Hond.

  • @katrachosps mmmhm.. i didnt say you were.. the simple fact is that this is Garifuna music.. not Honduras.. because is the true.. Garifuna were exiled to Honduras.. where they brought their culture.. any culture anthropologist will tell you this... and Garifuna language is a mixture of african and Arawan.. one of the reasons.. women speak one way.. and the man another.. if you read Garfiuna History.. you would know this.. the fact that this music is Garifuna.. Punto!!

  • @ArtL0v3ly according to you argument, than, Rock music, only belongs to white america, Opera to Italy, and placido has no place in it, and Salsa? where would you place it? Music has no borders amigo, y la punta se internacionalizo gracias a Honduras y todos los Hondurenios, yes including Garinagus, porque tambien son Katrachos

  • @ArtL0v3ly tell me something, Are you from Belize? I have a Captain in my unit that is garifuna from Belize, and He is telling me that most garifunas from Belize are embarres to speak the lenguage in Belize and rather call themselves crioles instead

In Honduras, where most Garifunas live is not the case, they are part of our society, and We are damn proud of our garifuna brothers, ever seen el ballet folklorico Garifuna? they tour the world in the name of Honduras and garifunas, un solo pueblo.

  • @katrachosps- And what is your point? I'm not from Belize.. I'm Garifuna from Honduras. And you going to tell me that there is no racism in Honduras? Please.. Let's give to the garifuna people what is their.. and the music and culture is garifuna.. not Honduran, Honduras is just the country were their live. So chill our and learn, dude. As for the other type of music, you should know that Salsa is american because it began in New York and is a mixture of Puerto Rican and Cuban music.

  • @katrachosps Garifunas in Belize are not shame...Creoles are mixed race

  • punta is not only afro-honduran. it is also afro-belizean. also from a small part of guatemala. otherwise its origin is actually belize and honduras.

  • VIVA GUATEMALA!!!

  • muy buen video de punta

  • Wow. I wonder what would be going on if there were no CAMERAS around filming. I'm sure there would be less people participating...The people who stand outside of the congress doors dancing on the carpet typically do so to get attention.

  • Yeah maybe, but most to escape the heat and bumping. In this case there was a DJ playing other music 20 feet behind these dancers. This was a great idea and showcased other talents. Most of these people are already super-famous and world travelled btw.

Hope this answers your comment. Hope you weren't trying to be a dickhead.

  • Superfamous? Maybe only in the salsa community...

  • Punta is the most celebrated of the indigenous secular dance-song genres of the Garinagu (commonly called the Garifuna), a people of Amerindian and African descent who live along the Caribbean coast of Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua and as immigrants in urban centers in the United States.

  • You forgot to mention that they were the descendants of African slaves who escaped from ships and the United states. When slaves first arrived to America in 1619.

  • Karmine18 is a nasty lieing cunt.

  • Thanks!! Did you liked my message at your account??? I think you did, well it seems like the ignorant uneducated cunt is you, DUMB ASS! are you mad because I blocked you, whore??

  • @chevdefkorn They don't live in Nicaragua.... only GUA, BEL and HND, they have another afro-culture in NIC and in CR

  • The Garinagu share a common language, system of customs and beliefs, post-mortem rituals, and repertoire of music and dance. Punta, a reenactment of the cock-and-hen mating dance, is characterized by a motionless upper torso and rapid movement of the buttocks and hips caused by continuously shuffling the feet

  • Social commentary songs performed responsorially to the sound of two drums, rattles, and occasionally conch shell trumpets and hollow turtle shells struck with mallets accompany dance movements. The most recognizable and identifying characteristics of punta are the duple-meter ostinato played on the segunda or bass drum (see Example below) and the shaking of the buttocks, a gesture found in West African cultures and in many African-derived cultures in the Caribbean and the Americas.

  • Sorry Fucked up what i posted so reported it as spam now here let me get it right

  • A series of rhythmic motives characteristic of punta are improvised on the primero (the tenor or lead drum), the smaller of the two Garifuna drums. Although punta is an expression of sexual dialogue between men and women, song texts are almost exclusively composed by women, commenting on male infidelity and other unacceptable behavior as well as typical challenges that affect an individual or family.
