Holy Shizz!! I remember this and August 4th too. My friend was shopping at Woodfield mall and got trapped in there when the warning was issued. She said it was disgusting because she had to go in this cellar under the mall with hundreds of other people. Talk about gross, especially if there's a lot of fat sweaty guys in there taking up all of the oxygen. She was in there for over four hours!!
my mom lives in dyer, in the northgate subdivision which is closer to munster, calumet avenue runs right through her backyard. i couldn't really tell what was going on though she had us stowed away downstairs.
This video - looking northwest - was taken in Dyer in Northwest Indiana, just two blocks from the Illinois state line. The storm moved along through Lansing, Illinois and Hammond, In and East Chicago, In.
That was one heck of a storm nice video by the way too bad there wasn't more of a view of the tornado I live in hammond but was not crazy enough to stand out and watch it
i live in highland and in the 21 years ive lived in this town... this has got to be one of the scariest moments.. i was livin in florida at the time of the flood in 2006 but still crazy!

Yeah, i live in Chesterton and missed this storm by a few minutes, it let up after hitting hammond which is 40 minutes from me.
