@slitherlock I disagree on both assertions. Seether's is OK, but doesn't quite reach that of the original. And, as far as AC/DC goes, not a huge fan, because i do agree they have a 'samey sound(!)' but i thought Black Ice was great. Straight up R n R, which we're in dire need of, i think! Both points merely an opinion though!
@nashmiddleton you carry around a picture of Eddie Vedder around in your wallet for when u want to be sensitive, don't you? Admit it and set your secret free.
I know who you are now mr. sock...you are the guy MTV fired for sniffing Bono's leather caps. stop taking everything so literally and for heavens sake lose the anger you have...it's dangerous for small children, the elderly, and tiny animals around you.
I wasn't angry in the slightest, but I must say I'm a little irked now. Don't make literal comments if you don't mean for them to be taken literally. Also, being rebutted is not an excuse to be rude. Start posting some sense, or you can start being blocked :)
Who the fuck are you if you think insulting someone because they say something positive about Pearl Jam on a Pearl Jam video has any place on YouTube? Did you even bother reading the thread? I was not rude to this individual, my opinion differed to his and he attempted to turn a positive debate relevant to the video into a slagging match. If people troll, post spam or are unnecessarily rude or insulting to me or others on my uploads I have every right to block them.
no i didn't bother reading the thread. it is not your place to moderate what comments can be posted on a video that you do not own. it matters not if the person is a troll.
Actually it is my place, it's also my place to disable the comments section altogether should I see fit. You think I shouldn't moderate my channel just because I don't 'own' most of its content? Moderating comments on something you don't own is surely not as bad as sharing it for free with everyone on YouTube, who am I to share something that isn't mine? Perhaps this and most of the other music based channels should be closed because they aren't 'owned' by record companies?
It's now apparent that you are woefully incapable of piecing together a coherent argument, hence why you fall back on weak, childish insults. You don't read the relevant thread, you criticise me and then fail to back up any of your criticisms with anything even remotely similar to substance... amateurish really.
great defense mechanism. and let me guess, I first started arguing with you because I'm jealous? No, I'm done arguing with you because its pointless. Your ego is obviously too big, there's no point talking to you. that's why resorted to insulting you instead continuing with my argument.
God only knows where you plucked jealousy from, I thought you saw yourself as some sort of cyber protector of free speech, standing up for trolls and the like... until you brought ownership into it. Now, rather than back up your claims you insult me - my ego is too big because you don't like me disagreeing with you, arguing with me is pointless because you haven't made any decent points - so you insult me because you can't back up or back out of a poor argument gracefully.
As far as I could tell that argument ended a week ago... why bother bringing it up unless you're trying to be confrontational? If you really care about enjoying this band then I'd suggest you shut up yourself.
If they'd done that they would never have released this song for starters, and they'd be pretty damn dull. Pearl Jam aren't AC/DC, they can't put out the same album for 20 years and still make it sound great - they needed and indeed wanted to evolve and change and as a result have been one of the most fresh and interesting sounding bands around for a very long time. That's one of the reasons why they've built up such a dedicated fanbase over the years.
@TheGargantuanSock (sigh) AC/DC hasn't been relevant since back in black. there are absolutely no dynamics or changes in vocal range of their singer and the guitar riffs are distorted blues scales like most of the other 80's guitar "gods"
(sigh) exactly! So why the hell would you want Pearl Jam to do an acca dacca and put out 10 more albums like 10 if you don't think the masters of staying the same despite everything haven't done a very good job of it?
AC/DC had a fantastic album streak from about '76 to '80 (SIX full length albums) when they could do no wrong - any grungy band that has tried anything similar has failed miserably and PJ would be no different. In the same timeframe after 10 they released Vs, Vitalogy and No Code - a great streak of their own where they made a great deal of progression with their sound! Had they simply tried to release carbon copies of 10 they'd have been consigned to the pages of history.
2. IF "NEVERMIND" WAS NEVER PUBLISHED "TEN" WOULD HAVE KILLED METAL !!!!
3. IF U DONT FEEL THE GRUNGE ERA LIKE WE DO GET THE FUCK OUT FROM HERE AND LISTEN TO YOUR SHITTY AC/DC SONGS !!!!!
4. THIS SONGS MEAN MY WHOLE LIFE AND I BET HALF OF THIS PEOPLE HERE MEAN THE SAME THING ABOUT THIS MUSIC, SO U CAN FUCK OFF AND GO LISTEN TOO YOU'R SHIT AND DONT BOTHER US HERE !!!
1. I wasn't, I said Pearl Jam could not have put out ten albums like ten, because then they would have turned into the AC/DC of grunge and they'd never have released this song - no grunge band has ever put out albums as regularly and with as little ambition as AC/DC successfully.
2. Not only is that statement moronic, it's completely irrelevant.
3 & 4. I have dedicated most of my channel to Pearl Jam, you fucking idiot.
I have thought about it, though you clearly haven't. Ten albums in the same style back to back would be really, really boring. There is however a saying that great albums come in threes... and that saying has a great deal of truth in it.
@TheGargantuanSock Amen bro. They are my favorite band and probably always will be. Each album is different, but seemingly similar. They are changing yet the same. That's why they will remain one of the driving forces of music in the last twenty years. Thank God for Pearl Jam.
At 2:18 Mike McCreedy looks like Fukin Frankenstien on crack , He just lets it go and dominates the riff with minimal effort and total perfection. I always knew Pearl Jam was awesome! But it took Sirius Xm radio and the Pearl Jam Channel for me to understand that these guys are clearly one of the greatest ever...........
this song hits so close to the heart...I only knew ten as a child...then had my heart torn in half and found the later years of Pearl Jam...and like Ben Harper, Eddie Vedder and Pearl jam are definitely godsend...Thanks for your continued motivating lyrics...
Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Mumford and Sons. In my opinion, the 3 best bands ever. They all have that raw emotion feel in their songs and i love it. Pearl Jam will live forever.
@bonnertom032 Do yourself a favor and just buy Vitalogy...you might as well listen to the entire album it only costs like 10 bucks and the album packaging is amazing. Vitalogy is probably the last CD in history that shouldn't be downloaded.
@Jackstanford7 Eddie already had the basic sketch for the song, then made some adjustments after Kurt died. That's what I remember reading somewhere awhile back.
@orangewizard Ah, but the first time it was played was the day Kurt died I thought? In Boston I think, the same show Eddie exited the stage by digging a hole jumping through it

@DEVGRUFIVE Yup you've got to love them. Still rocking out too. There's not many bands of that era still going. I read an interview with Eddie Ved. He stated no to song being about Kurt. It doesn't matter though as the lyrics are pretty fitting nevertheless.
concordo com você! todos os shows na América do Sul foram muito bons.. eu fui em 1 apenas e tenho boas recordações daquele dia 30 de novembro de 2005, Curitiba... uuuuu.. ;-)
@27hextall completely agree, he is one of the best gunge guitarists of all time(rythym wise at least), it was him and and ament who wrote pretty much all of Ten
con todo respeto creo no tienes idea de lo q hay q hacer para q esa girbson suene de esa manera, un solo no tiene q tener mil notas por segundo para q sea un buen solo escucha el feeling, el tono, la improvisacion.
having seen pearl jam live was one my life s greater experiences...wish i was a bit older so i could have seen them in the 90 s,with all the grunge wave and stuff and eddie even youngier and crazier:P..trully talented guy with great spirit
This song is so fucking awesome live. I have seen them about 15 times and this song and Indifference still give me chills when I am luckily enough to hear it live. PJ rules the day.
hahahahahaha,,, kurt cobain was great,, his lyrics sounds amazing, i used to love nirvana, but i really think just because i was 13 years old, ,,, actually im 30 and i really think nivanas lyrics was for teenagers,,,,,,,,pearl jams song is for all ages,,, thats my opinion
eddie is an artist
haha come as you are, hahaha, yhea rebelion against my teachers hahah,,,,teens pretending become in bad boys
i guess the idiot that said mat cameron is not the best drummer they had clearly doesnt listen to the drums in all these songs..and to say that it actaully depresses you makes me want to rape your family.
Dude. They rock...That solo note held from 2:35 to 2:47. So much feeling in a single note.

@DEVGRUFIVE Yup you've got to love them. Still rocking out too. There's not many bands of that era still going. I read an interview with Eddie Ved. He stated no to song being about Kurt. It doesn't matter though as the lyrics are pretty fitting nevertheless.

my favorite live performance of immortality... but the south america concerts were all really great, I love those bootlegs!

concordo com você! todos os shows na América do Sul foram muito bons.. eu fui em 1 apenas e tenho boas recordações daquele dia 30 de novembro de 2005, Curitiba... uuuuu.. ;-)

the great thing about pearl jam is that they're not a one-dimensional band. They're not, "i'm sad" or "i'm angry" or "i'm cool."
they're just what they are, and that's what I love about them

el solo de mike no estuvo tan bueno creo
angelofdeath22o2 2 years ago
con todo respeto creo no tienes idea de lo q hay q hacer para q esa girbson suene de esa manera, un solo no tiene q tener mil notas por segundo para q sea un buen solo escucha el feeling, el tono, la improvisacion.

i guess the idiot that said mat cameron is not the best drummer they had clearly doesnt listen to the drums in all these songs..and to say that it actaully depresses you makes me want to rape your family.
