But a question, what size and type is the side snare that you are using? It makes a very nice sound thats perfect for this style and I would maybe buy one :-)

It's tuned pretty high, but not too high to avoid a ckoked sound. The high pitched sound stems mainly from it's small size.

No, there are two effects I used on the snare drums: a pitch shifter and a bit crusher, the rest is live and acoustic.
