  • sounds like powerpuff girls

  • lmao likin' the bit reduction stuff, really want to learn drums so i can quit drawing beats, i hear you have a book?

  • Thanks :-) My D&B book Breakbeat Guide is available through drumgate . com or if you want it in German language through schellmusic .de or in most stores in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Beginners can work with the book but you'll need at least some basic note reading skillz.

    Take care

    Ydna

  • this is real break beat !! (dnb is part breakbeat)

  • love it

  • ahhh 240p, I've told you before it's over, stop coming back to me. :/

    Viele Gruesse

    Ydna

  • So legit.

  • ur snare seems a lil tight no? :)

  • I like to have my snare tight, but there's also an effect on the snare, that changed the natural sound quite a bit.

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • Breakbeat, not hearts. c:

  • WHO NEEDS A DRUM MACHINE?

  • since when dnb = breakbeats?

  • @sauronhall idk? breakbeats are common in DnB...arent they ?

  • @ydrjtt breakbeat is a slower tempo genre

  • A little JoJo comes to mind...

  • sooo cool. awesome groovesu got there!

  • Thanx, I appreciate it :-)

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • Dude u RIP! i wass cut some of that up and sample it!

  • Thanks mate :-) Sure, go ahead and sample it, have fun!

  • Redux ?

  • whats up with all the speed up and slow downs? is that just because of the effects

  • nice drumming. are you using the drums to trigger other sounds as well?

  • Thank you :-) I used a Bitcrusher and a Pitch Shifter after the recording, the drums are not equipped with triggers, only mics.

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • NICE ONE BRO KEEP IT FUNKY

  • what is the snare on the left??

  • That's a 10" Mapex Black Panther

  • @ozzaman He has two snares.

  • Man you're just a fucking machine.

  • Incredible.

    I'm a subscriber.

  • wicked!

  • it sounds like pre amp distortion, great playing but what a horrible sound!!!!

  • FUCK YES, kudos

  • Wow dude you are so smooth!

I would like to see a Video with you playing with Jojo Mayer :D

Your Sidesnare sound is also awesome.

  • Thanks, I appreciate it! I wouldn't like to see myself in a video with Jojo because he plays on a whole different level, hahaha :-)

  • 0:00 - 00:02 does n e 1 no the sng Set It Off by Skindred?

  • very nice but i bet u r way better than this

    trust me i know

  • You would be a good coach :-)

  • AWESOME!! I think I`m in love ^^

  • You kept my neck in rhythm.... Thanks.

  • Love the snare ring!

  • sick, nice, wow. a shame only in 240p with ugly audio-quality (I'm not talking about the bitcrushing which is awesome : )

  • Thanks :-)) I will buy a HD camera soon, the one I wanna get is sold out at the moment...

  • S I C K ! ! ! !

  • Did you add a flange to this? xD

  • No, I don't think so, I am pretty sure I only used a Bitcrusher and a Pitch Shifter on the snares :-)) But the effect sounds a bit "flanged", that's right.

  • @Jungleritter Oh ok, I see. It only really comes out with the snare hit, but, anyway, good job drumming man. I personally DnB and Jungle drumming.

  • @thelouie bitcrusher is such a bad ass plug in

  • It's tuned pretty high, but not too high to avoid a ckoked sound. The high pitched sound stems mainly from it's small size.

  • That's a 10" Mapex Black Panther snare

  • @Jungleritter im looking to purchase a smaller sized snare. would you recommend this snare? and how much was it worth?

  • I'm very happy with this snare, I would definitely recommend it. I bought it on ebay once, I think I paid 200 Can Dollars back then.

  • doesn't look like your trying but its fuckin awesome. i'd love to hear what it sounds like when you actually do try! haha jp your great

(also drum andy nö?)

  • It always sounds like you're getting out of rhythm, but you're also clearly not so it just sounds like SLOOOOWWW MOOOOO

  • Awesome......

  • wow..yu're amazing!!!

  • Cool, glad you like my video!!

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • Now thats what im talking about, how i used to love my beats..........

  • personally.. your the best breakbeats drummer ive seen... amazing job man.. keep it up!!

  • Thanks so much mate :-))

  • this is absolutely supreme! thank you for these wonderful beats.

  • give me some cymbals lolzzzzz

  • bit reduction on on the sound or just an auto filter ? hmmm Great percussion, but ill stick with programming breaks in midi ;)

  • Yeah, that´s a Bitcrusher you were hearing. I used the internal Logic Audio one.

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • Sir, I would buy an entire album of nothing but that and buy enough for my friends and family as well, and I know I represent a small segment of the general population but that's just too awesome to be denied.

  • Thanks a lot for your nice comment :-)) I really appreciate it!

    Cheers

    Ydna Murd

  • Extremely interesting!

    Great piece!

I do notice Aphex Twin. Wish he would release more music.

    Looking forward to more pieces!

  • Kinda hard to bboy too..

  • I saw this and I was like rad I need to subscribe and I already did a few months ago!HAHA

  • love the aphex influence there dude!!

  • Thanx mate, appreciate it :-))

  • Hey Ydna!

First of all I want to say thanks for your amazing videos, they really inspired me into trying out to play the D&B and Jungle style drumming which is styles that I always enjoyed, but never practiced but now with some good advice from you I am enjoying playing them :-)

But a question, what size and type is the side snare that you are using? It makes a very nice sound thats perfect for this style and I would maybe buy one :-)

    Keep up the awesome work!

  • Thanx for the kind words, I really appreciate it :-))

The side snare is a 10" Black Panther by Mapex, it´s a great sounding drum, I love playing it!

  • that sounds WAY too awesome :D

  • hELL FCKIN yEAH dUDE

  • Love the bitcrusher.

  • you made a video about an awesome breakbeat, which starts with like an open hihat quarter note rest, but i can't find it anymore!

  • Jezz, I don´t know which one you mean, sorry, can´t remember which of the videos started with something like that. But I didn´t remove any of my videos, so go on my site again, I´m sure you´re gonna find it again.

    Take care

    Ydna

  • @Jungleritter ok, i'll try my best :)

  • I think it's funny how it's like, three seconds in and you already know this guy is a fantastic drummer.

  • bitcrusher?

  • Yeah, I was using the Bitcrusher in this video. It´s an internal effect in my Logic Audio software, all it does actually is making the sound shittier, which is cool :-)) It decresases the bitrate to be more accurate..

  • damn dude that was awesome

  • What kit is that ?

  • ....................How?

  • look at the speakers man they are really moving lol

  • muy bueno, very good

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • very good sir!

  • Hey,

    I love your vids.

Can you please tell me what snare u are using?

    The small black one.

    I LOVE IT!

  • @FonsXDeXSpons

that may be a pearl firecracker

  • @FonsXDeXSpons

NVM its not a pearl firecracker, its a 10" Mapex Black Panther

  • Thanks a lot :-)

The snare drum is a 10" Mapex Black Panther.

    Cheers

    Ydna

  • Yeah! I'm gonna look for that one.

    Like it sooo much.

    Keep it up! (y)

  • haha got the same in my set ;)

  • Its a Blackpanther Mapex soprano snare! 10x5!

  • I already know.

  • looks more lyk a mapex black panther

  • Perfect ghost hits!

  • nice D'n'B ;) i think i should trigger my set too..

  • No, there are two effects I used on the snare drums: a pitch shifter and a bit crusher, the rest is live and acoustic.

  • Like Aphex

  • yo do you have a mandala pad hidden in there somewhere or something?

  • No, but I would love to have one :-) The effects you hear are put on after the recording..

  • :-O

  • holy crap.. i was looking for some simple drum beats i could practice on my own... i think i just got in WAY over my head hahah

  • You have serious talent, im subbed! Keep going!

  • actung! actung! metronome bitte!

  • Groovy. I especially like the bass drum. Where can i find some sheet music for beats like this?

  • What triggers are you using?

  • Hi,

I´m not using triggers, the sound of the drums is captured with mics.

  • this is an efekt,, cool Drummer.. :)

  • Just think I found my new fave clip good job sir you do by hand that should only be done by machine

  • or perhaps what is done by machine should only be done by him...

  • never heard something like this before

    sounds like prodigy

  • The end is breathtaking

  • just put some moon gel on the snare

  • I loooooooove this video :) I'm glad I found it again in my favorites. I couldn't find it searching "breakbeat drumming"

  • yo jungleritter,

u r a crazy inspiration to me. after approx' ten years of knowing about apollo 440 i researched the drumming and found this..

propper cleaver beats man. send me info and stuff, if u ever in london, LET ME KNOW.

  • Yeah, thanks mate! I will :-) Apollo 440 was such a great band, I loved them! Especially their first record...

    Take care

    Ydna Murd

  • you have to watch your tempo, man. thats what drummers are for, right? Otherwise, nice job :D

  • Yeah, that´s right, but only if they play with a band or along with music. I think it´s totally fine to stretch the tempo if you play on your own.

    Greetz

    Ydna

  • I cant say I have any valid oppinion; I play the cello and piano. Regardless, fantastic vid.

  • no!

Percussionists aren't just for tempo even though thats one of our jobs as musicians.

We determine the style of the song.

  • haha shows what i know: shit.

  • It's all good.

i just hate when we are perceived wrong.

    ^_^

  • starting from 1:50 with both snares, NICE xD

  • wooow , you groove mate

  • Great use of the bitcrusher effect on your drums.

  • When did you ever hear rubato in breakbeat jams?

  • that hi hat thing you did at 0:53 just got you a subscriber.

  • He runs it through his computer; obviously.

Sounds like he added a phaser ... and different little effects to tracks.

  • Damn this is hot shit!

    Love your drumming!

  • I'd love a drummer like you in my band.

  • Good stuff!

  • and to think i thought jojo mayer was the only person who could play breakbeats/ jungle beatz well....shame on me. well done
