im a 14 year old boy in loved with helis. just asking how much money does it take to learn to fly and how much to rent a chopper in one of these places to train.
@andres70097 The price varies from country to country. The best way to find some infos is to search on Google with keywords like "helicopter license price" and the name of the country you want. Several pages are available and will help you.
I live not to far from this place, Nyon, and thinking of getting my ppl just for fun at Heli Alps - As a customer, any tips on how to get the most out of a course? ie is it best to book the entire course and do a few hours each weekend? What is the cost if you don't mind me asking? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
@topbloke1UK Hello I have no informations for you. Perhaps you should contact William Pitton on Facebook. He is one of my good friends and he passed his license few month ago. I'm sure that he will help you!
@okeefebi I piloted an Alouette II helicopter twice many years ago. But I had never tried hovering flight before!
About the 2 Gb limitation : few years ago I received a message from Youtube telling me that I was authorised to upload videos without the 2 Gb limitation. They told me that some users were granted this privilege. Honestly, I don't know what criteria they use to chose these users...
awesome man...I really hope you go/went through with it all the way... I have a lot of respect for chopper jockies....it's the ultimate in stick and rudder

@makilajj merci pour la réponse rapide et sinon j'ai publié il y a quelques jour une petite vidéo de mon premier vol que j'ai fait la semaine passée. J'ai déjà 60h d'avion mais c'était aussi la première fois avec l'hélico.
The best video I've seen on you tube in a very long time... you're obviously a natural pilot. What excellent music as well, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Did you keep up the flight training?
Im sorry I call BS on this guy, there is NO WAY a first time heli pilot can fly an approach working collective, descent rate and slow it down using cyclic back pressure then come to a hover as power settings change out of translational lift into a hover with out help. Sorry guy ive seen it too many times and never met one first time flyer that would make such a claim even if you were rated in 1000 other aircraft. Just aint buying it, sorry!
@helobelow Jean-Daniel Berthod, the instructor, told me that about 5-10 percent of all the beginners he had trained before were able to hover after few minutes. He will confirm the information to you if you contact him :-) He works in a company called Heli Alps in Switzerland :-)
@makilajj Not worth me wasting my time but thank you anyway. Ive got much more important things to do and dont mean to offend, I just aint buying it! Great marketing tho if someone believes him!
@helobelow Just contact Jean-Daniel Berthod, the instructor at Helialps (Switzerland). He will tell you that 5-10 percent of beginners are able to hover very quickly ! :-)
@MusicManAustralia pretty sure that is the instructor holding the T. Probably just in-case his student needs extra help with minor adjustments to the cyclic
@gmoneyr1 Yes flying a helicopter for the first time is a strange experience. I had 200 hours as a glider pilot but a glider seems more "logic" to fly. A helicopter is like a piece of soap in a tub, it doesn't stop to go in all directions :-) I hope that you will have pleasure with your license, please post some videos, I would be happy to see you in action ! Greetings from Switzerland!
@jachxz Almost everybody is able to fly a helicopter after a good training. Now about the dangers of helicopters : zero risk doesn't exist of course! But hellicopters are very reliable. The vast majority of accident causes are linked to pilot errors, such as bad estimation of wind in mountainous terrain, flying in bad weather, bad preparation of the flight, overestimation of own capabilities, tiredness, stress, use of alcohol and medication... All accidents have 3 causes or more in fact.
It's not a lesson, it's a tour with someone who lives in the thing. No mention of necessarty air speed or death, no mention of mast bumping, low rpms below the power curve: death! Don't fool yourself. and flying doesn't have music especially "musac" with it.
A lot cheaper pay a pilot that think thse are like flying a car! Otherwise millions would be sold everyday - they have less parts than a VW Bug and cost a bit more because they are so hard to learn Robinson is no Henry Ford!
@skipsassy1 I have been in the world of helicopters for many years (as a passenger or as a filmmaker). As a long time fan of helicopters, I had accumulated a lots of knowledge about helicopter principles. As a former glider pilot, I knew the meaning of smooth moves on a stick :-)
Now you are right. Flying helicopters need time and money. People who want to fly must make sacrifices. But it's such a beautiful experience.... I would advice everybody to have an initiation flight !
My worst fear is the radio... ( I am not a pilot )

I really enjoyed this well-done video. I have two questions:
1. Did you have ANY helicopter experience before you made this flight in the Robinson R-22?
2. The length and clarity of your video suggests it is greater than the 2 GB limit that YouTube puts a restriction on. How did you do that?

Non la Gopro était à l'intérieur, on a fixé la Contour avec du gaffer (ruban adhésif gris métallisé très solide).

Merci de la réponse.

i will always remember the first time i flew in a R-22, it was truly amazing
p.s. "hovering" is the MOST difficult task of aviation.

@helobelow That's too much work to land an aircraft. I say just fly a few hundred meters above where you want to land and cut the power.
acr08807 1 month ago
@acr08807 LOL! Oh hell, nothing like a forced landing to add some excitement to the day I guess, why didnt I think of that?

How much do I need to pay for this ??
Mrmanoy1 4 months ago
@Mrmanoy1 It depends on how long you will fly. I had a look at several sites which propose such flights for 4-500 dollars.
