  • My fh is all around the same size n same tank. .......anyways u could check mine. ....but cool fish

  • he's really quik. Looks like you work on that well. Fastest ive ever seen a fh move.

  • Nice fish Silver. Bro u need a bigger tank foe that FH. Ad also u might wanna be careful having him chase your hand because he can bang his head agaist the tank and hurt himself. know a guy and his FH broke itsspine frm htting the tank and died

  • look under the tail fin female have a "U" and the male have a "V"

  • u guys are stupid!!! its not trained its aggresive so it chases his hand and fast movement. lol. morons

  • Totally agree with u, but you need to train it to bring out it's aggression, if you left it alone, it wouldn't be aggressive. Like we humans need education to be smarter stupid! Realized I don't comment on others because I agree that it needs bigger tank to avoid ramming it's head on the freaking glass wall. Go suck your pacifier!

  • lol. nice post dumbass. why would you want an aggresive flowerhorn? so you can waste your whole tank with one fish?>? i succesfully breed AAA flowerhorn. try that and tell me about flowerhorn. start another hobby. your comments just make me laugh. *sucking Pacifier*

  • I use a cd and it still doesn't follow

  • Do you know how to tell if its a male or a female? Mine has nice, long tails, and its 3 inches or so, but no humps yet. please tell me if its a male or a female

  • Sorry for taking some time to reply u. Also, sorry I don't know how to differentiate male from female because all I have was a male flower horn. However, you could try google for more information with regard to that matter. Thank you.

  • ohh ok. thanks for replying.

  • theres no 100% way to tell other than if its a she youll see eggs. males tend to be shorter bodied. u can also tell by pulling the fish out of the water and looking at its anal area. females have 2 holes. just like humans. it takes an expert to see it though

  • @fodstafinest ohh ok. But i have a filter, Wont the eggs get sucked in right away?

  • @fodstafinest I just check my flowerhorn. I check the place that they poop on, and there's only 1 hole.

  • that's tiring for u..

  • Hey can you tell me how to train my flower fish like that?

  • Hi, sorry took me 1 month to reply you. I assume you are talking about training it to follow your hand. I have to tell you that these are based on my experience and that there are no scientific proof that this is how it would work.

First I started off my using something reflective to attract its attention, I used a CD. With the CD in hand, I tried to reflect some light into the aquarium and attract its attention, then it should gradually swimming towards you. (Continued...)

  • (Continued...) Now you move that CD horizontally away from it, and slowly, hoping that it'll follow you. Do this for a while. Next you can try to draw it's attention using the CD, but you drag it horizontally across the aquarium, QUICKLY, in the direction it's looking. If you drag it towards it's tail, it'll hard for them to rush for you, so you should drag it so that it can still see the reflection. This time it should rush towards the CD. Alternate CD with your hand, it should follow ur hand.

  • Sorry for taking some time to reply u. However, I have detailed explanation in my comments on how I train my flower horn. However please note that this is not some scientific proven method, but it's from my personal experience. You can train your fish regardless of how old they are. ;) Good luck and update me.

  • my flowerhorn is in a tank with africans, its a 55 gallon tank but the flowerhorn is only about 3 inches big. any advice on how i should train him or how to make his appearence more apealing?

  • Sorry pal, as you have seen my comments, many didn't like the way I train my FH, though it lived for 5 years. However I agree that I need a bigger tank for my FH. LOL. It was my first FH btw.

    Others, help pls?

  • yea it did need a bigger tank, but the flowerhorn i bought yesterday is my first ever flowerhorn too. i want to make it grow nice and healthy and big. any advice on that?

  • Well, do bear in mind that my "advices" are as good as my experience. My uncle breed hundreds of flower horns, all without color, and bump on the head. I took one back when it was about 3 month's old, and gave it a fairly big tank for it's size, and then started to train it by waiving my hands like how I did it in the video. After 2 weeks or so, I can see the colors striking out. When you waive your hands at the FH, make sure you are waiving it in the direction that the fish is swimming. 2b cont

  • ... For better results, IMHO, you can use something shinny to get the FH attracted. I used a compact disk (CD). You know those ppl who like to fish in the lake, they use this artificial bait called spinners that reflects light, without any worms or food. Somehow they could catch fish as good as a live bait. Next, after a few rounds of waiving, you should drop some food for the FH, to let it feel that they actually caught his own meal. I personally don't think that it'll add... 2b cont...

  • .... I personally don't think that it'll add stress to the fish, just make sure the tank is huge enough so that the fish doesn't smash into the glass.

Finally, I don't know how much exp you have in rearing fishes, but when the FH's colors faded, it's time to change 50% of the water, neutralized with anti chlorine. Don't let the colors fade too often, but try to estimate the time until the next change is needed.... 2b cont.

  • .... next change is needed, so that you change right before the FH's colors fade.

For the food, I don't quite recommend small fishes, or crickets. I tried feeding it fishes, and my FH couldn't quite digest it, and the rectum totally came out of the body, you don't want this to be happening. Get those processed food, with some features like "Strong colors", etc. Occasionally you can pamper them with live worms. Avoid the sunlight. You can add grass, but I know nothing about it. That's all. ; -)

  • Oh yeah, one last thing, I don't know how true is this, but I wouldn't recommend you put your FH with other fishes in same tank. But do go ahead and do some research on this, cause I am not too sure.

  • ok dude ill take that into account, rite now my FH is still dull and doesnt have much colors, but i think only because its still young, about 3 inches big. do you have any other fish besides FH?

  • Yeah, I rear neon tetra, those with full red at the bottom, instead of the half red ones. The full bottom red ones are easier to rear than the half red ones. Love it, because it's a good deco for my living room. However I gave up because it's difficult. I reared some crown tail fighting fish, eaten by my FH. Although I separated the fighting fish and the FH, while the fighting fish is resting, it's tail slip right though into the FH compartment, gone.

  • Before then, I reared Angel Fish, Gold Fish, and, rummy nose fish & zebra fish. Rummy nose fish and zebra fish is from the same family as neon tetra. Zebra fish are very interesting species. They make your aquarium lively cause they chase around each other all day long!!!! However, FH gave me the best exp, and then next is Neon Tetra.

  • You fool! The fish deserves better. The water is too lower and it looks stress.

  • all flowerhorns do that eventually. i had a female zz about 7" and every time i walked pass the tank she would follow me. they just want attention .lol. there good fish.

  • hi people. . . i'm just a newbie in taking care of flower horns. . . could you tell me what is the proper age of a flowerhorn so that it can be trained? and how do i train it? please help me. . . could you forward a video or a step by step guide. . . ty

  • best way to start training is hand feeding with mealworms. place the mealworm in your hand and have the flowerhorn take it from your hand. do this enough times and the flowerhorn will learn to chase your hand with or without food. then you can do the same method as this video with no food at all.

  • You twat a fish of that size should be respected and looked after. Not stuck in a dump of a tank like yours. You should try running into glass at speed might knock some sense into you. Retard

  • thank you that just made my day lmfao

  • actually he needs the girl, so he can leave the fish alone.

  • Stupid!

  • damn flowerfishcom, your another fuckin moron you call it topsy turvy I call it dumb as fuck. Stupid asses like you should not be allowed to keep fish. "flowerhorn dance"... Let's think about that for a minute......That sounds just as stupid as the rest of your comment. DUMB ASS!!

  • Your a freakin moron dude, as beautiful as that fish is and your just mistreating it like that, just don't make sence. And fill that tank all the way, it's bad enough the tank is too small for the fish already, it just shortens it's swimming space. You think the fish is being trained but probably the fish is trying to get to you so he can kick your ass for keeping him in that codition.

  • My flowerhorn was just as cool before it had stomach inflation and my month disposed of it without my knowledge.

  • tjhis this guy is the dumbst guy i have ever seen. dats not how u train ur fish dats how u kill it by slamming its head on the glas u dumb kunt

  • its gonna die

  • 1. its trying to defend its tank.

    2. get a BIGGER TANK.

  • Wow, don't do that. you aren't "training its speed".

Its trying to defend its tank, and you are just agitating it. Its going to ram its head into the glass and killitself you fuucking retard

  • TRU!

  • You should tell that to people who have Dovii' lol. They RAM their head from one side of the tank to the other at full speed just to try to attack people.

  • your right it will and will die

  • your F.H is very energetic... how old is it??

  • awesome fish, even with the stigma. Great social fish

  • Flowerhorns are pretty social, if he were moving his hand slowly back and forth it'd follow as well. The tank is probably huge, just the fish isn't teeny either... Time for an indoor tropical pond! ;)

  • Now can you make a close up video of your flowerhorn?? It looks pretty nice from here hehe..alot of red.

  • yeah get a bigger tank first off. and about the training, be careful with that, seems like he can ram his head into the glass.

  • damn can u fit it in a smaller tank!?

  • he/she think its a fly...

  • put your hand in there

  • Are you sure you don't just scare it?
