@cantuhmp Hey, that's great! Except it's not a movie! And you say "experienced" instead of "watched," which sounds like advertising copy! And then you end your comment with a plug for a website! You're totally a real person and not spam!
It lasted from, I believe, January through September 1981. The shortest lived version of all the Pyramids. This version was so confusing from its start on the road to the $50,000 grand prize. But when the time came to give it away, there was much tension in the air, exactly the way the air was when The $100,000 Pyramid was at tournament time.
Well, I should've explained, by bad :) What I liked was the purple (and that's what it looks like to me) contestand stands, and the reddish flooring. It looks "royal" in a way.
Especially the episode of "The $25,000 Pyramid" when as a clue to "Why You Have Sex", she said "Cause you are horny as hell!" I'll always love that moment!
I saw that one night, with my folks, on the $100,000 Pyramid... Florence Henderson(Carol Brady) gave that clue in the Winner's Circle in 86. Everyone gasped in the audience... not to mention my house at the dinner table!
Mrs. Brady? Saying, "Because you're horny"? Still makes me laugh every time I recall it.
Awesome! Thank you again, Adam! You da man! Steve O'Brien on the announcing! Not to mention, the zigzag carpeting! Do you happen to have a $50k episode with Alan Kalter announcing? Once again I'm reliving my youth!

I remember when this was paired up with The Hollywood Squares on WPIX at I believe at 10am. What a duo these shows were!

I remember this show I was 11 years old at the time, but I did not watch this version at the time because my brother hated the show.

So the best i can guess is that the $50,000 Pyramid is an early version of what would become the $100,000 Pyramid

I don't recall the $50,000 Pyramid.

Not surprising - I think it lasted maybe six months in syndication.

It lasted i think from Jan to Dec, so it lasted more like 12 months i think.

Nope; it got cancelled in May '81.

Actually, it was a WPIX-11 exclusive since it was aired in New York. Philadelphia viewers saw this version on WKBS-48.

This version of Pyramid was slightly awkward, but I love the purple set!

Do you have an opening of the $50,000 Pyramid? I love Bob Clayton, but I kinda wanna see someone else but him in a New York era Pyramid opening.

I think Bob Clayton died in 1978 so I'm not sure who took over announcing after that.

According to websites, Steve O'Brian and Alan Kalter alternated announcing for the $50,000 Pyramid.
