If you were shown a car from the 50's and a car from the 70's, could you tell which is which? Of course you can... did you ever stop to ask why?
Designers adhere to each other. It's called evolution of design. They inspire one another (some more than others), and for better or worse, cars in general will look like each other.
50 years from now, people will see cars from this era and say, "that's so 2009"
What's Davids take on the engine internals? Can it make more hp than the V6 and still have a decent life? As an Evo 8 owner, I'm considering this car as a second ride.
From Hyundai. I found it on a presentation video you can find it on Youtube if you really want to. But yeah if you run premium you get 310 w/ the v6 and 223 w/ the inline 4 turbo. (up from 306 and 210 w/ regular gas)
i would think if it makes that much a difference, its not so much a gain as a loss . you shouldnt be using reg gas if the engine has that high compression
If you want max power you're right. But when you own a car one usually drives it off track and money is a factor too. The engines are quite tuneable and flexible thats what is important to know
lol don't even ask me how I mixed that one up lol.
wow I may kill myself now, that is a pretty bad fail. I meant the 2.0 Turbo but I've thought alot lately and i think i might just get the 3.8 track instead
If you really want to piss ricers off tell them that the world engine block in the EVO X is designed by Hyundai. so the EXO has a Hyundai engine block, not the other way around. There are differences though. The EVO has a partially closed block deck, and 4 bolt main for the crank. As opposed to the Genesis' open deck and 2 bolt main.
Why? Tell me you are a little open minded to look past the badge on the car. Imagine having the most expensive electronic device that was name brand. Tearing it apart only to find out that the internals were made the most IN-expensive route by being produced in China.
Not to preach or anything, just don't be one of those people who bash on something without giving it a fair days glance.
It probably would have been around 190 RWHP if it was dyno'd on a dynojet. Mustang dyno's tend to read about 10% lower give or take depending on the application. So these are pretty good numbers.
Ah sh!t, thought trev was getting his first, guess not. Cant wait to see where you guys take this thing. You planing on a 93 oct street built or going to do a full out race car? either way make it fast so trev's is fast too then I can ride in a buschur car.... I wish you had put 2 seats in the magnum.lol

they say the engine is a world collaboration engine originally built by mitsubishi.

@blitzbluehauler
basically mitsubishi's 4b11, just detuned, and a little weaker internals

Premium gas gets you up to 223 HP @ the crank according to HYUNDAI did you guys run regular for the dyno run?
Inertuber 2 years ago
That is crank HP as you stated. We are concerned with wheel horsepower which is what our Mustang Dyno reads at.
The fuel the car was dyno'd on was what it came from the dealer with. It was 87.

where do you get your facts?

As far as I know those are were the similarities end though. The EVO X's turbo isn't the size of a small coconut like the Gen coupe's lol.
Kiraina 2 years ago
yeah when I get the 3.8 I'm switching out the Turbo for a pricey custom one.

3.8's aren't turbo dude!
