I saw The Original Vogues back in the early 70s and they were great! This group is as good as I heard in the last 30 years though.

this (and other 'oldie' acts still on the circuit) makes me wonder (by how good these guys are now) how, if young bands developed for 30-40 years before releasing their material, how the music would be received... you'd initially think 'outdated', but I wonder... for some aspects of music (and art) are timeless...

Many, many years ago as a teenager I was really headed for trouble with the law. When this song came out it was my favorite and I memorized the words and sang it all the time. By just a fluke chance I met my future wife and she has been by my side for almost 40 years. She really set me on the right path. So you see I did get my Special Angel. Hope you all have yours.

sorry about your dad dude, but he DIDN'T play on this track. all the Vogues Warner bros. records were all done by studio great Hal Blaine. look it up on his website or ask any of the original members.

Drumguy - thanks for condolences. Being a natural debater - and knowing that he played on some tunes with the vogues - i'll surely research this on my end.

But you sound like you're an expert on this material, so i ask: Which songs did he play on???

i was certain that my dad, with his band the Fenways - of moderate West. PA fame - were the backing group for this tune, You're the One, 5 o Clock world, and Turn Around Look at Me.....your thoughts?

I recently joined The Vogues as their keyboardist. Bill Burkette and Hugh Geyer still sing well and are true gentlemen. If you have'nt heard the Vogues recently, you should. The singers and the band take great pride in reproducing The Vogues hits. Bill was the voice of the group and Hugh was the sound.

When this was recorded there were two originals in it. Chuck Blasko (on the left) and Hugh Geyer (third from the left). Hugh has left this group and signed on with the trademark group along with original lead singer Bill Burkette.

@barilko5551 Sir, As best I can tell, 2 of the original quartet are now with the group again--both on the far left/ right; Bill Burkett, & Hugh Geyer are the 2 iriginals now singing. Unfortunately, there are 2 Vogues, & I can't tell which one this is. I saw them in '67,l & they were simply unbelievable. What harmonies they had. That night, they did a amazing version of Greefields, I'll never forget. Denver, Colorado, University of Denver Club. Wolfsky9

Not true. The trademark group has original member(S) (Hugh and Bill).  The group that travels around Pittsburgh only has Chuck.

Both Vogues contain original members but NEITHER one's vocals sound like the original recordings. Whoever the back up band in this video is, they come close to the sound of the music on the record. ANY Configuration of The Vogues WITH OUT ANY ORIGNIAL MEMBERS DON,T COUNT! The public wants the original artists AND sound like the record.

I think the old clips of the original Vogues doing their balads on youtube were taken off because of some copywrite problems You can find old clips of them doing their upbeat tunes though.
