And next year, 40 years since the season which this movie shows, we will have an FIA World Championship for Sportscars, with Sebring, Spa, Le Mans, Silverstone, and more!
Sports car racing at its Pinnacle or its demise. From here on it lost its soul. What I would give to travel back to the 50s and watch the next 20 years of the most beautiful cars ever made.
Thank you for posting this, possibly one of the greatest motor sport films ever made. The contrasting narration styles of Mario and Vic Elford make for great listening!
i own this on DVD, yea I actually buy a few haha. but i first saw it on speed. it covers a great era in motor sports when the equivalent of today's p1 cars raced on the Nurburgring, when men were men as the saying goes. the music in this film is great! the nurburgring and le mans footage, listen to the tunes then!
This is a lost classic of a bygone era, when there WAS a world championship for makes, and LeMans was a points paying event.Racing's become too costly and political.
Fabulous Video! Great vintage 12 Hours of Sebring footage and interesting commentary by Mario Andretti and others. Thanks for posting this series of 'Speed Merchants' videos on YouTube for all to enjoy.

Thanks for sharing. It is maybe the best racing movie never made. Romantic and tragic. Great soundtrack too.

I like the way they've let the drivers do the commentary, it really gives a true picture of racers in the early 70's.
