I've always loved this song, but I never hear it on the radio anymore. Even the country music station on TV doesn't play it. I wish they would. Maybe this wasn't a "big hit" for them, but it's such a beautiful song and the Gatlin Brothers voices blend perfectly. Thank you for posting this song. LOVE IT!!!!
I'm 55 years old and I heard this song for the first time in 1979. It touched me then, and it still touches me today. I consider this to be the best ballad ever written and sung. Yet this song has a new meaning today. I am one of many hundreds of thousands of people in our country that have been laid off from work due to corporate greed and poor management. I would love for Larry to dedicate this song to all individuals and families that struggle in our country's current employment nightmare.
I just heard this for the first time a few minutes ago on the Nashville radio station. I can't believe what I'm hearing! It is so beautifully done.Larry, what a voice!! The harmony you have with your brothers is just out of this world! I will be listening to this a lot!
This level of talent is indescribable! Back when this first came out, I listened, almost in a trance-like state, over and over again. Familial harmony cannot be beat and the Gatlins are the best of the best! Thank you guys for hours of enjoyment!
Man this song is so incredibly beautiful, I agree with ya BloozeDaddy, Larry has not been given anywhere near the recognition he and his brothers deserve. They are legends.
One of the greatest voices of all time. This fabulous song only proves that Larry Gatlin remains the most criminally underrated singing and songwriting talent in country music history. Show me any male vocalist anywhere on the charts today who can sing even half this good.
This song should've been his biggest hit ever, but it is really a pop ballad more than a country song. Larry's talent is so far ahead of his competition that he is simply "too good" for most music fans to understand.
We just seen The Gatlin Brothers last night at The Shooting Star Casino last night. Larry said this was his favorite song of all time that he ever wrote and recorded. I was bawling and remembering the first time I had ever heard it in 1979 while dusting the living room. I remember clicking the 8 track 4 times to make it go back to this song. THANK YOU FOR THE SONGS LARRY AND BROTHERS! This is my song forever.
@kdlaten I can write down the lyrics & send them, if you'd like...or find a place where you can get them yourself. Please do me a favor & write to my email address to remind me. (I don't log into YouTube that often). I'm at mrdoolin1@yahoo.com
@dsloveswva I know how you feel, I lost my Daddy 7years ago, believe me when I say, when I heard this again it made me cry all over again. It doesn't matter how old you are (46) here, pain knows no age. My Daddy, my Mom and I went to one of their concerts in filer Idaho fair. When I hear Gatlin Brothers they take me back to a better time. I just wish we could freeze time, once in awhile. I am sorry for your loss, but only time heals. take care and bless you all
Larry and Steve and Rudy knock me out with this. As I posted earlier, it's my favorite by them....hands down! If I could suggest another artist that would do justice to it, it would be k.d. Lang. With that velvety smooth voice of hers and the breath control she has...plus the feelings she can convey to the listener, I feel she could make a statue cry if she sang it.
When I first heard the Gatlin Brothers do "I've Done Enough Dyin' Today", I knew that pop music had entered a different league. Both myself & the woman I loved back in the '90's -well it brought us both to tears. It's been 30 years since her totally unexpected passing & I've never gotten over it, nor will I ever
forget the song. As painful as it is, it really is only one of the connections we've got, unless we're blessed to meet again in Heaven. David L
@dsloveswva, Yes, sdsloveswva, it's a killer & I rarely listen to it wihout crying. I'd probably give up my remaining 30 years, in order to have my first 30 years back. The music then was timeless & today's music is pretty awful....that is if you don't like Melinda Doolittle, Katherine McPhee-with Bocelli, no less, & of course, our American Treasure...Barbra Streisand.
@dsloveswva Yesdsloveswva, it's a killer & I rarely listen to it wihout crying. I'd probably give up my remaining 30 years, in order to have my first 30 back.
This is my all time favorite song by Larry and his brothers. The man can sing. I heard him do this at the Houston Livestock show back in the early 80's.
Saw Larry in concert with Crystal Gale tonight. He introduced this song as "not a big hit but still his personal favorite of all he's written." He was good even though his voice is much older than this recording...and his brothers weren't with him...it did make we want to hear this recording. Perhaps this will motivate me to go buy a needle for the turntable in order to bring out the oldies...definitely a goodie!
from the first time I heard this song years ago, I still in love with it and the Gatlins...Larry's voice....melts me like butter, and you should hear him sing gospels.....anyway this song is my fave also.........Lady L.
Awesome....I had this album and used to play the hell out of it. I haven't heard this either in over 20 years. Just heard "Happy Endings" by Johnny Rodrigeuz...WOW....
LG was an under-rated performer...truly a great voice...beautiful really.
The incredible range of the haunting and beautiful voice of Larry Gatlin is so unique indeed. God given talent that has touched all of us who has loved and lost. "Sight".
Just met Mr Larry Gaitlan today. Thank you for a wonderful class)

Nice song. Harmony at a level only siblings can approach. Requests? The Gatlin's "In Like With Each Other" from the "Not Guilty" album.
