  • hiliarous

  • really why do toons hate thier mother-in-law?

  • Well I can see the mother-in-law disliked this video.

  • I love this.. fantastic stuff...poor mother in laws lol

  • When I was watching this on boomerang, I thought it was an episode of Tom and Jerry and keppt wondering where they were.

  • what is with the mother in law things!

  • lol I loved this cartoon as a kid - still love it at 28! Funny, though, how you are able to suspend reality so easily as a kid. At 0:38 I never realized there was no depth to the water in the swimming pool when I was a kid.

  • 2:09 Ah, SHUT UP! (fires plunger) Lol.

  • 1 of my favorites!

  • Thanks for posting. I too have been searching everywhere for these narrated cartoons and couldn't find. This is great. made my day.

  • I've been trying to find this cartoon EVERYWHERE, for like 5 years now! No one ever seemed to know what I was talking about. Thank you so much for posting it :)

  • Tex Avery shure had a monster-in-law,

As a kid , I was doubled up in laughter at 11 years old I could even understand his mother-in-law jokes even though they where in english.

  • I want an Automatic Sandwich Maker!!

  • @passwordntlongenough word? never knew. i need to show these kids what real cartoons are. thanks brew.

  • These are such great cartoons. Tex Avery was brilliant! If only we still had true freedom some of these cartoons would be shown.

  • Back when women stayed in the kitchen

  • @avalanchesuperstar Excuse me Mr. Sexist but we women have brains too.

  • I have been wanting to see this cartoon for over 30 years! I can still remember some of the scenes from when I was 10 years old!! How funny! I could not remember the name of the cartoon for years, but now I can see it! I am thrilled!

  • This needs to come out on DVD n shit.

  • @buhrrito Just do a search on Google for Tex Avery, you'll see the DVD's n shit for sale.

  • this would not be allowed on todays television fuck you political correctness

  • nice ending

  • Boy Tex sure had a problem with his mother in law. LOL

  • These "--- of Tomorrow" type cartoons are the best to watch on newyears

  • lol i love how there used to be this assumption in the 50's that women WANTED to do all the cooking, cleaning, and child-bearing/rearing. LOL

  • The Mothers-in-Law disliked this video I'm sure.

  • damn, a lot of these inventions had realistic thought put into them for the future. could very well happen in our time slot.

tex avery you wonderful bastard you.

  • Was always my favorite growing up

  • the burps...it means what?

  • 2:30

    Cartoon Sandwiches/food always look better.

Also, Tex understood Men. He was awesome.

  • 1:55....

I need that "modern little wonder" for my 8 year old twins who do NOTHIN' but ask me a boatload of questions. LOL!!!

  • the 2 dislikes are mothers in law

  • I love tex avery cartoons! so funny

  • Okay that was wrong, why did the make the door for the wife strait then wide at the bottom and why did they put poison in the mother in law's medicine cabinet. Still it was funny :-)

  • @honeegrrl It was a different time ;p

  • This man really hated his mother in law.

  • Women back then looked amazing and healthy.. They didnt get implants or waste away to end up looking like skinny boys. They had a much mre feminine look to them and not the hard look celbs have today i.e. Victoria Beckham, Demi Moore and Madonna they look haggard and hard..

  • Hmmm I don't think Tex liked his mother-in-law, just a hunch.

  • the one for the tired buisness man still works now XD

  • @misswolfy2000 most of them anyway

  • 2011 now pepole lol

  • Anyone else notice that, despite the swim-suit model being a healthy weight and bigger size than models today, you can still see her ribs clearly? WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT TELL YA!?! .... i dunno....

  • i still believe a little man is in my fridge, lol just kidding! real talk these toons were ahead of their time. tex avery was a genious. RIP

  • Little did Tex know that the sun lamp used in 2:37 is what every Jersey guido desires! XD

  • God damn they hate the mother in law!

  • I used to love this episode!!!!!!

  • finally I've found it! :)

  • The 400+ likes are from the tired businessmen.

  • @SteamTeamRedubUK yeah..me too..lol!!

  • @SteamTeamRedubUK The 2 dislikes are from the offended Mothers-in-law.

  • Ahaha, Tex Avery was always hating on mother in laws. There's some kind of MIL joke in all of his toons.

  • lol at 2:01

    *kids squeaks*

    Robot: OH SHUT UP!!!!

    *puts plunger in kids mouth*

  • i love these cartoons!!! i miss them so much!!!

  • I LOVE TEX AVREY

  • That Riches to Rags house would be very useful in real life :p

  • I asked about this on Yahoo Answers! and got an answer immediately! Anyone know where I can watch the full version?

  • I WANT THE TIRED BUSINESS MAN'S TV!!!!

  • The orchestral movement during the MGM intro suggests a Tom & Jerry cartoon is coming up, but around 5 seconds it segues into another movement.

  • Tex Avery's '...Of Tomorrow' cartoons have always been some of my favorites! This cartoon had me convinced that a little man came out to shut off the refrigerator light until my dad finally showed me the little switch xD Tex Avery was a true cartoon genius!

  • WHY IS THE BOY'S NAME ALWAYS JUNIOR!??!?!?!??!?!

  • @cooldudebailey I don't know? ROCK ON!!

  • From Wikipedia:

Generational suffixes are used to distinguish persons who share the same name within a family. The most common name suffixes are senior and junior, most frequent in American usage, which are written with a capital first letter ('Jr.' and 'Sr.') with or without an interceding comma.

The term 'junior' is correctly used only if a child is given exactly the same name as his or her parent.

  • I loved this as a kid and still do.

  • 4:21 Please have that in 2041!!!

  • The girl, is Betty Grable.

  • @frostfirei It couldn't be...Betty Grable was under contract to 20th Century-Fox at this time, so footage of her wouldn't be seen in an MGM cartoon.

  • @frostfirei Correction: Irene Dunne

  • This guy REALLY hates his Mother-in law!

  • the sun lamps are tanning beds lmfao.

  • Ah, childhood. Back when humor was simple, and cartoons were funny.

  • LOVE THIS! looking for it and the CAR OF TOMORROW for years! I remember these during Tom and Jerry cartoons in the 80's --so glad to see them again!!!

  • THIS IS THE CARTOON WHERE I SAW THE LIGHT-GO-OFF-WHEN YOU CLOSE THE FRIDGE DOOR

i was wondering where I saw it for years

because I made a video also THAT MY BROTHER AND SISTER IN LAW LAUGHTED AT!!!

  • @MichaelHansenFUN thanks for watching buddy!!!

  • 2050... heh heh heh

  • Mother in law cliche's are all to scary.

I used to fake being asleep every time my ex's mom came over.

  • hey its 2011 where the hell is my sammich maker?!

  • 5:50 Fuck the ipad i want this.

  • @ojideagu we still use both terms today. The misses is considered a little mysogynistic to sat but is still fairly common, and we say sweets and candy, but sweets refers to anything sweet (i.e. Cupcakes, brownies, candies, cakes, cookies...) while candy refers to what British people mean by sweets.

  • Ah, Irene Dunne.... ;)

  • 2 viewers are mother-in-laws.

  • 3:24

    why is my grandma there?????

  • fallout world of tomorrow 8D

  • @bruderphillip Not necessarily.

  • If the tired business man married the cute girl, would she still be cute to him? Kind of like, if a tree falls in the woods, and there is no one around to hear it, does it still make a sound? Lol.

  • @Jenna424 If a man speaks his mind in the forrest and no woman hears him, is he still wrong?

  • @Jenna424 -- No matter how cute the girl is, somewhere there's a man who's tired of banging her.

    @i40329 -- Radishes induce gas.

What can I say, I love a good "house of tomorrow" cartoon. Might I also recommend "Dog-Gone Modern" (Jones, 1939), " House Hunting Mice" (1947), and "Design For Leaving" (McKimson, 1954)?

  • i onse gave a barber a "Close shave" after i got a bad shave 3:53

  • Who is this girl? (3:30) she has impressed me;very cute in fact

  • @santoyo85 but yeah to bad she's maggot food now.

  • Where did cartoons like this go? The ones on tv now are CRAP, except for a handful.

  • I can take a hint with the mother in law

  • I'm a very tired business man...lol so very tired.

  • I don't know who the main narrator was, but Don Messick narrated the "super-atomic oven" segment at 5:12.

  • Heh...girls like that are considered "plus size" now!

  • Funny thing is that we have the Juicer (Automatic Orange Juicer) Clear Door Ovens, and the Crock Pot (Stove Pressure cooker) now... and the fridge dwarf looks like one of the guys from ZZ Top lol.

  • I like how narrator forgot what he was going to say at 3:30. Much more amusing than the stupidly overdone reactions of the wolf upon seeing Red Riding Hood

  • @Karlita2304: wpw your english is amazing

  • Im not that old, but i remember these cartoons from old Cartoon Network... "tex avery show" back then it use to be funny... Now im 23 and i understand sarcasm and "double" meaning of things and it's even funniest... I dont know why these days cartoons are simple weirds... I grew up perfectly normal with these type of cartoons xD

  • thakn you so much for posting this, ive been trying to explain to my mom that i watched this on cartoon network a while back and i couldnt remember what it was called :)

  • door for the missis, (she just loves sweets) "just put in your steak peas carrots eggs tomatoes.......there goes your.....steak peas carrots eggs peas"

  • @R4MMV8SRT10 I've noticed some slang we use in England is no longer used in America, but it used to be? Sweets in England are candy in America, but here they are saying sweets? Also it's common in England to call the wife "The Misses/Mrs" yet I don't think it's so common in America now?

  • i love the fact in every "of tomorrow" the mother in law is in one way or another shown rejectected in some shape or form. excellent ^_^

  • oh man great memories of sittin on the couch after school and just veggin with no cares in the world.... i really miss those days, but LOVE being an adult!! Thumbs up if you agree... ( :

  • Haha now ovens DO have windows in the front.

  • @chickenpoodle009 The oven seemed to be the most futuristic item in that house.

  • dummyman 4:05

  • In Soviet Russia, Toaster pop YOU up.

  • I like the mother in law stuff.

  • I see the mother-in-law disliked this.

  • Another one I haven't seen in ages! Thank you, thank you thank you!

Hmmm....I'm thinking the writers had issues with their mothers-in-law??

  • oh my gosh. Thank you so much for posting these! Brings back memories.

  • In Soviet Russia, toaster pop up you

  • me ensa

  • 5:17 the year 2050, eh? I'll be waiting...

  • @papoj1PVR

We have that now...it's called...a crock pot.

  • @texasghost A crock pot--slow cooker--and a pressure cooker are two different items...and pressure cookers are still on the market. My mother has used them for decades, especially for vegetables. You need almost no water, so the flavor and vitamins aren't boiled away.

  • 3:30 And ah...uh...oh!!!

  • 1 person is a mother-in-law.

  • i know this was back in the 50s, but that woman was HOT!!!!!!!

  • I so want a Automantic Sandwich Maker! :D

  • hell yeah no one better put a thumbs down for this peice of history

  • I know it's a cartoon, I know it's 60 years old...but these are pretty lame.

I suspect they are simply a reminder of the attitudes of the past and are better looked at as something historical rather than anything clever or witty.

  • @wonderllama74 no one forced you to watch it, so dont.... k?

keep your lame un-witty, non-clever comments to yourself

  • @beasst94 Nobody forced you to reply either, yet you did.

Try not to be ignorant in your reply either, silencing opposing views is stupid at best.

  • @wonderllama74 Are you serious... Your comments sound like something a mother-in-law would say.

  • @geekstreat See, your reply was on topic and amusing. Points to you, no points to beasst94.

  • thanks:))

  • this cartoon makes you wonder what did tex avery's mother in law ever do to him

  • In Soviet Russia, toaster pops YOU!

  • fridge elves.... i actually belive that

  • Tex Avery, you sir, were a legend. Always making me laugh even when I was down in the deepest dumps. You're cartoons will forever be in my heart. It's unfortunate that kids these days don't have the blessing of being graced with your works. You were an inspiration to us all. Rest in piece friend.

  • I LOVE Tex Avery, he's the king of cartoons.

  • The video is pretty cartoon, and Tex Avery is hilarious as always, but something seems to be wrong with the audio. It sounds... I want to say distant?

  • Good ol fashion family sexism.

  • >XD Still one of my faves!

  • thanks bro:))

  • I watched this cartoon so many times, Im so happy I just remembered what it was called!

  • Referring to the beginning: if only building your dream house was that easy. Also, I don't know if anyone else got it, but I believe that the little building far away is an outhouse. XD

The three-screen television isn't actually a good idea. Sure everyone gets to watch their own program, but what about the sound? A better idea is to have a TV in almost every room (I don't recommend the kitchen...you might overcook a meal by accident).

GET RID OF THE KID'S MEDICINE CABINET! Castor oil, yuck! XP

  • @MWolfL Believe it or not. I did taste Castor Oil when I got sick. It's really tastes as bad as it sounds.

  • @swarlock

I feel sorry for you. :(

  • I love how it seems like he hates his mother in law lol.

  • I love how suggestive Tex Avery cartoons are, this one isn't too much, but I remember it even when I was a kid.

  • No way this is for childrenn xD

  • @fuckutube21 Ha yes, cartoons were originally not for kids, but more for adults and older kids. I think Tex Avery took this to the extreme. Most of his cartoons have some very risque stuff, still shown on kids TV channels today.

  • So....every time i close my fridge a little gremlin turns the light off?

  • When I was little I had no idea what this cartoon was about (I didn't speak English back then). But now, what a CLASSIC!

  • 2:09, I like the "Ah SHUT UP!"

  • I wanted to do a "mother in law" joke but no one happened to dislike this video ...

  • This was one of my favorite cartoons as a child infact all of tex avery cartoons were my favorite.

  • The automatic sandwich maker: Finally we can relieve the females of their hard work.

    (JKJK I know I'm bad)

  • 3:09 She needs to put some flour on that dough.

  • @AkihiroHattori52455 Nah... It can't be Dunnie... watch?v=_ffeWW4lZoo

  • who si she?

  • @wilfredin Irene Dunne.

  • @SuperCartiel

MGM "The Anything Of Tomorrow" or "The Of Tomorrow"

  • "for the Mrs......(___) she just LOVES sweets" XD haha

  • to hell with the mother in law lol

  • I loved these "of tomorrow" shows theyer great thanks for the upload

  • LOL @ 6:00

  • They always had it with the mother in law jokes lol.

  • @Masamune364 I have a feeling Tex hated his mother in law

  • @Nubnut i have that same feeling lol

  • @Nubnut hahahhah

  • @Nubnut Ya think? I think this cartoon had the most "mother in law" jokes of all Avery's cartoons.

    They're still hysterical, though.

  • @Nubnut its a mother in law cliche

just like the woman driver cliche

  • @Masamune364 hahahahahhaha

  • Comment removed

  • she's sucking it in! ;)
