Monty, if you read Trad 1, it says NO ONE can be censored, but then there's common sense. I think your comments displayed a good bit of common sense. As for Anonymity comments, YT skirts a fine line in terms of "press, radio, and films". 1736 views is not exactly mass media, but the potential is there. To each their own -- it's a Tradition anyhow, not a Law.
Aloha, Monty! My dad (Dick B.) has written more than 40 titles on the history of Alcoholics Anonymous (DickB.com) and now has a channel on YouTube: "dickbchannel". What are your thoughts on his work? Thank you. Ken B.
@meddetect10 The point of AA meetings was never to share gloom, doom, or personal secrets. Personal secrets are for "a trusted closed-mouth friend", per text. Meetings are for experience, strength, hope, not gloom. But telling people to SHUT UP, because they have nothing to offer yet, this 'tough love' has fallen out of favor (and should be used sparingly, imo), so people get the idea that AA meetings are like some "clinical group therapy". Is that even sanctioned in most therapy? Dunno.
@dilbertgeg There are just a couple in each meeting that want to tell everyone else what to do. One lady was a very nervous type and brought her crocheting and one of the "gurus" told her to put it away! She was an adult, and she was listening and not being disruptive, and he had no right to talk to her like a child! I felt if this calmed her nerves, let her have it. This man should have been told to put his stinking cigarette out! These people just don't make sense!
Though in todays AA this is true, if one is going to follow the actual program which is the Big Book then this would not be correct. You can start anywhere when it comes to God, even not believing in Him but the Big Book makes it very clear that without Him (If you are true alcoholic of the hopeless varity) then you won't stay sober. This is according to the Big Book.
How refreshing! Thanks for this bit of wisdom. The newcomer IS the most important person in the room, and alienating them just insures that the old-timers forget where we came from. This is my first time to see your videos, and I like it. I will be watching more!
11. Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio and films.

What about other 12 step programs? Like Sex Addicts Anonymous? I've been attending a sex addicts meeting for a few weeks now.

Sharing gloom and doom, and all your personal secrets for everybody else in the room to share. What a crock of shit.
