  • Where did you find that ammo for that cheap? where i live its like 15 bucks for a box

  • The surplus ammo is great as long as you clean your Mosin after you're done firing it. I clean my weapons well after firing any ammo so whats the big deal getting the surplus?

  • @typeanoise The surplus ammo is a lot cheaper than most brands and easier to find but it is corrosive meaning the gun propelent in the shell will eat ur barrel if u let it sit to long, ur barrel will look green like the statue of liberty if uncleaned lol. easy to clean though put some windex down the barrel and use a bore snake, then hoppies no.9 cleaner and repeat until clean, should take 10 to 15 min.

  • @Captbrass10

Yeah I know. I clean mine every time after I've shot it, I swab it down with no.9. I do need to get a Bore Snake though, will 30.cal bore snake work? Thanks.

  • @typeanoise Yep I use a .30 cal on mine, instead of using 50 patches lol

  • @Captbrass10

Just bought a Bore Snake and wow, works great. It cleaned the barrel more thoroughly and in half the time compared to using patches.

  • @typeanoise yep, they are amazing, u can still run 1 or 2 patches down it but, u don't really have to

  • Good ammo. I use it in woodchucks and it does nasty things, I take the liberty to clip the tips off a few, creates a dum-dum round. That really busts things up! I get a lot of stuff at fairly close range, imagine it would really mess up accuracy further out. This ammo has a nice smooth case that feeds/extracts nicely. Sometimes my steel case surplus ammo wants to get lodged in chamber, never have a problem with this. Coyote? 7.62x54 would devastate it!

  • Wow, as an owner of an M44 carbine, I would have expected it to blast through every single jug. Mosin-Nagant is no joke.

  • I'm confused, how did a soft point 7.62 only make through 3.5 jugs? That's a pretty high powered rifle round...

  • @yahtzee4u soft points are meant to expand and fragment inside the target within the first few inches. if he had used full metal jacket and not soft point it would have went clean through all the jugs.

  • wow that thing is the size of a slug.

  • is this ammunition capable of immobilizing unarmored vehicles

  • @istuddd If you blow the drivers brains out: Yes.

  • @istuddd these are anti personel, the 147 grail lps steel core is good anti vehicular ammo. or any steel core or ap ammo.

  • @gunman848 or i could just hope the driver has his window down and throw a brick @ his head

  • @istuddd that wouldnt be no damn fun at all.

  • @istuddd all joking aside, im sure that this round inside an engine block would not be beneficial to said engine block.

  • at what distance did you shoot the jugs?

  • Is that ammo corrosive? I wanted to stock up on it if it is not. Thanks.

  • @Peidmonte89 it says its not but i wouldnt trust it.

  • How much did this box cost?

  • @Dtac25 About 8 dollars for 20 rounds.

  • @andreleger2001 nice. I'm planning on buying a Mosin this November. Gonna refinish the stock for a lighter blonde finish.

  • @andreleger2001 somewhere a black man is crying over that cool aid

  • @andreleger2001 why does it only get through that much my air rifle could get through that many jugs

  • @Dtac25 thy cost about 10$ per box

  • @smartacus88 I will try to chronograph some in our next test session.

  • @andreleger2001 thank you, THANK YOU!!!!!.......i was beginning to lose hope, SUBSCRIBED.

  • @smartacus88 2495 F.P.S. Muzzle energy: 2556 ft

  • are the a corrosive round?

  • @USCisgay No they are non-corrosive. Generally the corrosive stuff is much older ammo from military stockpiles.

  • Is that purple drank?

  • Ah, the "Russian 30-06"

I think I'm gonna piss off my dad and buy a Mosin tomorrow haha

  • @m1shadow

lol, well, i am going to be buying a a mosin nagant, and i was going to use it for coyote hunting....stillhavent decided if i want a mosin nagant, or something else...i was just wondering if the 7.62x54r would be a good hunting round or too much...thank you!!

  • @justinmfielder15 From what I understand the power of the 7.62x54r round is somewhere between .308 and .30-06.

  • @justinmfielder15 it's a great gun takes all weather cheap powerful if you're a good shot than you will have no problem and you can't beat it's price 100$ and for a great gun its a steal!

  • @justinmfielder15 the 7.62x54r soft tips will kill any north american game animal. make sure there the soft tips, they cause the most tissue damage.

  • @justinmfielder15 i highly recommend get a mosin nagant , but if you are going to use it for hunting purposes use the soft points likes in the video made by "brown bear" the fmj rounds will blow right through a coyote

  • @justinmfielder15 Considering that a .308 Winchester is pretty much a 7.62x51, and you compare it to the 54r, yeah it will mess some shit up :)

  • Hoo buddy...that stuff would leave a mark.

  • I've got 2 boxes of that ammo on top of my dresser right now. Thanks for the video.

  • Would you recommend the 7.62 x54r for coyote hunting? I bought one, and i plan on taking it out when season roles back around.

  • @justinmfielder15 It might actually be a bit of overkill for a coyote but it should have no problem dropping one.

  • @justinmfielder15 This round with the ammo he used for the test would prob blow a coyote in half! lol This is a VERY powerful round and i have read of guys taking polar bears out with it! I dont hunt though.. i do competition shooting and for fun, i blow things apart w/different rounds to test the different effects, and i will say, these 203gr jsp rounds are devastating!

  • @justinmfielder15 agreed 7.62x54r iiiss pretty overkill. You can take a coyote with a .22 with a good shot shorter than 100 yards, but with the 7.62 u can drop one pretty much as far as you can make a shot =P

  • @SupremeAmerican Y dude?

  • Damn that jacket looks nasty

  • i wonder how many people that would go through

  • holy. cow. penis.

  • I was impressed with this...I would have figured it would penetrate a bit further but this is plenty enough for a vital shot on a bear or deer and even with the jacket failure it did some pretty horrible damage and flew straight. I would REALLY hate to be on the recieving end of that, and honestly it didn't appear like it would overpenetrate even a human too badly (In the case you'd actually have to use one for self defense which is pretty minimal unless you only have one gun)

  • has anyone heard of this higher gain ammo damaging a rifle?

  • @morbidangelofdeath1 Hmm... I have not heard anything. I have shot several hundred rounds of this stuff though my M44 to no ill effect.

  • @andreleger2001 i've shot about 20 and nothing has happened to me. i don't really think it's gonna hurt nothing.

  • @morbidangelofdeath1 Any 7.62x54 ammo over about 150 gains can damage semiautomatic rifles like the PSL.

However, you can use any grain ammunition in the Mosin Nagant.

  • @hydrashok556 k just wanted to make sure the 203gr wasn't to big.thanks again

  • @morbidangelofdeath1 you cant shoot anything except 154gr and below in PSL rifles, in mosins and other 7.62x54 bolt guns it wont make a a difference

  • @morbidangelofdeath1 it will damage a psl

  • Comment removed

  • @morbidangelofdeath1 Any thing higher then 160 grain in a psl or svd will damage the rifle.

  • @cgkeddington i konw about those,but i was refering to a mosin

  • @morbidangelofdeath1 I read something about it being bad for PSL's , but it's good 2 go in Mosins.

  • @permazek probably from ar guys....it can wear down the reciever on just about anything other than a retarded-strudy russian gun. but an ak actually chews up brass so its more common to use steel in ak's, sks's and the like. and with bolt guns like this, it really dont matter. its only prevalent in semi's, really. a psl or a dragonuv could also digest this just fine (ak style action. )

  • Thank you!

  • I always ALWAYS had the jacket separate with that particular Ammunition.

  • @EccentricInTexas i guess its not that bad, especially on deer sized targets. the 2 seperate parts will shred more innards.

  • wow iam really shocked at how the jacket retained most of its original shape and spewed out the lead core, never seen that before on a jacketed lead core round that is a saft tip, not even on my federal 170gr SRN i shoot out of my model 94 winchester, very interesting!

  • @1gamoguy The jacket is mild steel with a copper wash so it acts a bit different than guiding jacket copper.

  • Another great video. Really good expasion with that round. Would probably perform well on varmints of the two-legged variety also.

  • awesome videos! glad to see rifle ammo being tested now too

  • I've used the Silver Bear 203gr on deer. At 60 yards it put a big hole in her and she ran about 30 yards after I took out both lungs and the heart.. It works pretty good.

  • Thanks for the test. Any chance of doing the 7.62x39 soft points in the future? The most common fault of the AK round is that it doesn't tumble or expand after impact, but I think the soft points would get the job done. Thanks.

  • @prescottbill Sure. I think I may have some to test. I will dig through my stock and find a box for the next session.

  • That's great stuff! Thanks for the test

  • not enough penetration for the mother in law though . LOL...

  • Such a nasty round, oh my.

  • no questions there....

  • In the future,do you think you could show us the kool aid cans? that would be awesome! :)

  • @theKaarvaag1 Cans? We were using Kool-Aid packets (about 10-20 cents) to color the water so that it shows up on camera better. Now we are using RIT clothes dye since a bottle of that stuff colors quite a few jugs. Watch our Pretest Thanks video for some behind the scenes stuff of our prepwork.

  • That was a supriseingly awesome result.

  • @Kylef7735 Yes these did quite well for such a low priced ammo. I would say they would work just fine for deer sized game.

  • you need a Slow mo cam

  • @TMHonfire102 ohhh yeaaa

  • @TMHonfire102 A camera upgrade is in the works. Just waiting on additional funding...

  • well that worked

  • yikesss.......lol
