Just go for your dream. Yes I'm 100% sure there are tons thousands of people waiting and trying out for movies just like we are. I say just go for your dreams and anything is possible. I know I am
@dominsmith I'm not against "the dream" but I think it's wrong to not tell people about the low probability factor of them getting much work as an actor in the H'wood system/ zone. Just as low-budget filmmakers should be advised that, if they have $50,000 to make a movie, they would have better odds at making money by simply buying 50,000 lottery tickets. It's not just having "the look" and "the talent", one must have connections, be in the right place at the right time, etc. LA is not it.
At the end of the day, it's what the director wants. If you fit the criteria then you have a chance. You just never know. I'm starting acting and my soon to be coach told me that it's just what the director/ person in charge of casting needs. Look @Gabourey Sidibe. He had almost little to no acting experience but then got the leading part for a great Movie Precious.
I showed this robotjason guy's video to 6 people at work today and they were all howling with laughter after his first phrase... "What is UP, people...of the... internet?" Gotta love it when a white guy tries to sound ghetto. What's up? word up, yo!
@butcherscott If you think that ebonics is not correct English, perhaps you should ask someone from New Zealand, Australia, England, Belize, Jamaica, South Africa or India whether USA people speak English "correctly". LOL
@RogerSands1 Okay, maybe you can think like the scammers think, just for a second, think of it as prevention. You said "Here's my situation. I plan to move out there very soon (don't have a date yet). I have 10k saved for starting out. Now, I'm just saving up for a car which I'm not far from. Other then that, I have acted for a couple of years around D.C. area (that's where I'm from)...etc." Some scammer can trace you URL, know where you are and con you out of your $10K. Get some logic, dude!
I like what he says about, that he'll be discussing... you know... like... what you should pack... like... what you'll need to bring with you to LA... If you go to H'wood, be sure to bring good knee pads, you're going to need them. LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!
Face it people: they need about 300 extras in Hollywood each week, and there are 300,000 people who all think they are going to get those jobs. Stay in school. Learn how to repair a computer or a microwave oven... that's where the money is... LOL!
Do you realize that this video could have been edited down to about 2 minutes? And another thing... at :38 you say "I,I,I,I,I...need yer guyzuz input..." Waht does yer guyzuz mean?! If you want acting work, you have to first learn how to speak so that others can understand you.
What you SHOULD tell people is that the odds are extremely low that they will get acting work in Hollywood.
p.s. I almost forgot: If you go to H'wood, be sure to bring good knee pads. LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!
hi my name is bilal um my dream is to become a famous actor and cuz im only 16 i want to do it and i need some tips cause like im planning to move to Los angeles by the time im done high school so ya
I have found a lot of stuff on here that is related to this. It's been my dream to act and sing since I was a child. Life has always gotten in the way of that and I just kind of gave up for a while because I didn't even know where to begin! Now I am getting an idea of that. I am honestly thinking about giving this another shot, except my fiance isn't supportive of this. :(
It's not easy for a Canadian. If you can become SAG eligible it will help you to be employable. I would suggest coming here for a few weeks, laying some groundwork, putting together a package and then working on it from Canada. In the time you are here ... go to a workshop and make friends!! Make contacts .. that is key.
hello, how are u today?first of, i think u look cute lol. im vanessa , i live in uk,nice to meet u. to be honest u have a point there but i think maybe having a lot goin on in life such as stress etc could result to emotion which i think thats what hollywood seeking for sometime, if u could become emotional its interesting. id love to be an actress but im shy. i tough myself drawing so i can tough myself acting on my free time,
Great idea... however... this video isn't anything other than asking for advice. You offer nothing but the idea of moving there to become an actor. I hope to God you haven't already moved there unless you have the bucks to survive. My advice is to find a place near the Burbank/N. Hollywood area. Find work waiting tables. Get your tools. Hustle and take acting classes. Sign up with agencies that work extras only... get on the sets and network.
@RogerSands1 Hey Roger... The scammers in the movie biz are gonna love you!! Why? Because you are stupid enough to tell everyone on the internet that you have $10,000 saved up. In your comment, in just a few sentences... you tell people where you are, that you do local acting there and you use your real name on YouTube... Some thief will read this and get to your money... lame!
I included in you one of my paintings I did for a show titled "USER" that questions the cultural phenomenon that is the YouTube community... check it out, you're under "mixed-media paintings/prints"

hi i am 17 i have recently just being signed to an agent and i take on screen acting lessons, i am just starting to get extra work and have a few auditions for commercials and i am about to start a performing arts course at college, but the thing is i live in the UK. Do you have any tips about international people moving to LA? thanks x
@StarburstKayp One bit of advice. DO NOT MOVE TO LA. LA is falling apart. The biz in LA is less and less every year. You will be in COMPETITION with half a million wannabes with stars in their eyes in LA. You will be competing with them for acting work and work to pay the rent.
Want to come to LA and get work? Bring a big bag of cocaine and excercise your sucking ability. You'll make fgriends with those who long ago have bought their way into the biz. They will get you work. STAY HOME.
HOW TO MOVE TO LA AND BECOME AN ACTOR....Learn to suck cocks. Learn to work as a Starbucks barrista. Learn to be a waiter/waitress. Learn to be called a "bitch" if you find some no-pay PA work for a company that you will be fired from anyways. Learn to enjoy ranchero music and filthy illegal aliens. Get to know your cockroaches. Be happy about parking ticketsd. Be happy having your car getting broken into. Enjoy being RAPED. Enjoy be robbed at gun/knife point. ENJOY FAILURE. You wont "make it".
@ekie18 Yes, the H'wood industry want everyone to think that you HAVE to be in LA to work on movies, that's crazy. Maybe some of you people with "dreams of becoming famous actors" should pause, and go to a few film festivals(not ion LA), and see the variety of films being made, and that few of them are filmed in LA. Unions own the film industry in LA, so they promote their "location". The acting unions are not any better. Their goal is to pimp you gullible newcomers.
yes yes yes... I need to know all of this... please please please tell me..all of this.. I am a singer songwriter A&R Select is doing my promo and licensing... on Santa Monica Blvd... in Hollywood .. need to know most affordable living places near there.. how to find roomate... quick jobs... and all thanks for your series .. @capriceharmony65 Nice you are gettign a "berak", but you should know that thousands of people get "signed" by a label or studio and their careers go nowhere. Signing with them can actually freeze you ability to pursue any other opportunities. It's cheap for producers to "sign" people to their label. It's not like they are promising they'll make you a star or make a multi-platinum CD for you. That's what they "sell" you, but it's a lie. Do some research: the industry is flooded right now.
If you want to be an actor, 1st make alot of videos with other actor friends. upload videos to Youtube and all other video sharing sites upload videos of your plays ansd such and work hard to get auditions in ur home town or towns around for small movie parts and such and all that Im not an actor but I wish to be but just thought maybe that would help some people./
hey man so this is the info ive been looking for for some time you know basicly where to start as a new and aspiring actor. I youre right you know there is so much esp if you are new to the craft and the industry. like you said the content is so vaugue online so i appreciate it...for myself and other new actors or those who have no idea where to start things that would help to know are : what to do first, where to get work , where to train, how to create a resume , where to get good
@BlessedBeauty Read up on the unions that control the industry there. Did you know that the lighting union workers set up a movie light, but an electrician has to plug it in, and if a sand bag is needed on the base of the light, that is the gringo's union? As they say, their are so m nay unions in H'wood that one union holds the nail, another union pounds it in.Spend a few days in Burbank and see how most of the film workers are just doing it for the money, no passion for film/cinema.
I want to become a film acter and I got school and stuff so thats in the way and second how am I supposed to get to LA / Hollywood when I live all the way in
windsor.ontario.Canada... and I don't think my parents will let me travel there.
@randyland1987 Personal advice: North Hollywood is dirty, high crime, crappy apartments(crackheads, hookers and career welfare freeloaders). Don;t confuse Hollywood with "North" Hollywood or "West" Hollywood. Look at a map, they aren;t even next door to each other! By the way, most movies & TV shows are NOT made in H'wood, they are made in Burbank, Culver City, Van Nuys, San Fernando(mostly porn, but many actors end up working there, LOL), Studio City, Toluca Lake, etc. Hollywood is fake.
It is really interesting the things you say. The same counts for every big city you go to. Very often you get side trucked and you end up not doing the very thing you moved all the way to the big city...
Great video, local virginia beach actor two months away from graduating from film school. Thinking about moving New Mexico, Texas, or Atlanta to improve resume and get SAG card before moving to Los Angeles
@de1dezire LOL... take a number and get in line, there are already 100,000 people in LA who have the same dream. Take a day to research 5 of the top TV host's careers. David Letterman was a local TV news weatherman in Indiana for many years. That has to be the least H'wood gig there is... and by the way, Letterman made it, but in NYC not in LA... Hollywood is not the only place in the world to become a star or whatever it is most of you dreamers are seeking.... Starbux is hiring... LOLOLOL!
heyy im english and 16 years old, thanks for the tips really usefull. im coming to hollywood as soon as i hit 18! cant wait. At least now ill have more common sense after watching your videos. cheers dude
Join my actors social network. This is a social network for actors and aspiring actors only. Upload your demo reels, voice-overs etc. The website link is in my profile.
Jason, MAKE MORE VIDEOS!!!! I want the stuff you talk about in this overview. South Carolina is getting old and not moving me forward as a actor so........ Its time for a move.
Hey, I'm from Australia. Great Video - now i'm gagging for you to expand on all those points! I'm moving to L.A this January. WOO! Thanks for taking the time to make these
This was honestly such a great video. im an actress from new york and i'm thinking about moving to LA. I just wanted to see if there was any written info about it, but hey...i figured i'd see what you had to say. so cover the info! thanks!
i dont live in LA, i actually live in NJ haha (cross the country). but i would like to get into acting. Im 14 and a freshmen. what would be the best way to get on the path to acting?
First off, I came back to college thinking LA would be the best place to start off my acting career. WRONG! You are right when you say that school is the way to go. Networking starts off in the little places. Go back to school people!
Q: 1) How do you find an agent in LA? Where do you even start looking? 2) What have you heard from Ivana Chubbuck and Howard Fine acting studios, scams? 3) Which acting studios does one look for? 4) Auditions are usually what time of the day? Days of the week?
Hi robotJason i was just wondering how you like los angeles.? I also want you to mention in your next upcoming show about famous places areas aspring actors may like to move such as sunset blvd, melrose, and many more. Thanks for your time and looking forward to your next upcoming video. Sincerly, Karen
@Calihollywood21 If you want to see the real(and pathetic) hang-outs of other actors looking for work... go to a few of the sidewalk cafes near Warner Bros. studios(Toluca Lake area). These are coffeehouses where people sit there reading books on method acting and how to improve their resume. They have stacks of their headshots on the table and they all hate each other(everyone's your competition in LA). After a year of "waiting" for a casting call, they leave, and the next losers arrive.
but then I have heard that it takes a while to get around because la feliz is far out. What in your opinion would be a good area to live with is close to jobs, people to socialize with and a pretty much good environment but an area that is not to expensive?
This is the PERFECT question to kick off the next video. I have to make a different video today for the weekly show I have going on with my friend BCK205, but I will answer this as soooon as I get a chance to make a third video. Thanks for the comment!
No problem. I'm out of town right now, so I'm sure I'll make the next video early next week. I'm think I will post it around Monday-ish. Talk to you soon.
@robotJason Hey dude... at 3:03 you say "pher-tographers". It is pronounced Photographers. It's ironic that the movie industry has cinematographers and photographers and that you'll be just another naive extra in the set who can;t pronounce one of the key job terms in the industry...LOLOLOL!
I have a few questions about living in LA. I'm looking to move from london to LA next year with about $7000 would you say that is enough for a people with no place to live and no job to start out until I get settled in with a job and a car. Also as I am a actor just starting out what would be the best area in LA for me to live. A few people have told me that Burbank or la feliz would be the best area to live (I have run out of space Q continues below)
It sounds like you're on the right track. It sounds like you want to do TV/Flim acting, right? If that's true, I would try to find as many ways to work as an extra on tv show and film (I'm sure most of that stuff films in NY). Because of your age you have a really good chance of getting SAG vouchers. I'll cover this in one of my videos. Also, have you heard of IMTA? A friend of mine from NJ got his agent and manager through IMTA. When he got to LA he was auditioning right away.
Anyway, IMTA is legit. I know it's not cheep... that's because you basically pay for managers and agents to fly out to NY to come see you. Does that make sense? Anyway, it's one of the few things that you pay for that is not a scam. Most of the time when you pay big bucks like that it's totally a scam. I would check that out... but I'm pretty sure the NY showcase just ended like 5 or 10 days ago :( Other than that, keep acting while you're young. Build your resume.
hi. i live in south jersey. and i have no plan of moving to la anytime soon considering in 15 years old. i have headshots but not professional. i will get them though at a later time. and i live close to philly which is becoming a new popular spot for film. i dont know where to start. i went to an open call at mike lemon company (a popular casting director in philly) & i got put on their database for speaking roles and now i am starting to take classes but other than that what do i do?
Well thanks for checking out my video!! Are you an aspiring actor?? Yea NO SAG card here! (Sad) I wouldn't even know where to begin if I moved there, so thats why I am taking the long route living in Chicago, hopefully get noticed and commute back & forth if that became an option. Well hope your week is going well!
I am an aspiring actor. I think for the next episode I will tell my story, so everyone can get a feel where I'm coming from. I think this will help others understand how I can help them out if I'm not famous. You know? I do have an actor friend in Chicago, i'll hit him up and see what he knows about your area and things you can do to get started. I hope all is well!
Honestly, I am insanely glad to help out anyone who is planning on making this journey. I have a feeling the second video is going to be on it's way soon. Any questions, please let me know.
If you just tell me your address I'll come tuck you in every night. Ha ha...
Yeah, I'm hoping to give people a jump start that you and I didn't get when we moved out here. I'll probably call you up so we can brainstorm topics and such.
I'm about to watch the video. I'm excited... I'm looking that the thumbnail and the show already looks amazing.
you wanna know where people are living? creep. haha. seriously tho i think this could be really helpful if people watch. and if you know what the hell you're talking about haha just kidding!!
Just go for your dream. Yes I'm 100% sure there are tons thousands of people waiting and trying out for movies just like we are. I say just go for your dreams and anything is possible. I know I am

im moving to north hollywood next month, id love to get some personal advice.
randyland1987 1 year ago

Thinking about moving New Mexico, Texas, or Atlanta to improve resume and get SAG card before moving to Los Angeles

i want to move to become a tv host
de1dezire 2 years ago
@de1dezire LOL... take a number and get in line, there are already 100,000 people in LA who have the same dream. Take a day to research 5 of the top TV host's careers. David Letterman was a local TV news weatherman in Indiana for many years. That has to be the least H'wood gig there is... and by the way, Letterman made it, but in NYC not in LA... Hollywood is not the only place in the world to become a star or whatever it is most of you dreamers are seeking.... Starbux is hiring... LOLOLOL!

I am from India...How can I make it there....
Prashant1428 2 years ago
@Prashant1428 Why come to Hollywood for acting? Bollywood in Mumbai, India makes 60 times more movies per year than all of Hollywood.
India is much better(and smarter) than USA. Namaste.

Hey Jason,
i dont live in LA, i actually live in NJ haha (cross the country). but i would like to get into acting. Im 14 and a freshmen. what would be the best way to get on the path to acting?
7Flavorsofmike 2 years ago

Calihollywood21 2 years ago
@Calihollywood21 If you want to see the real(and pathetic) hang-outs of other actors looking for work... go to a few of the sidewalk cafes near Warner Bros. studios(Toluca Lake area). These are coffeehouses where people sit there reading books on method acting and how to improve their resume. They have stacks of their headshots on the table and they all hate each other(everyone's your competition in LA). After a year of "waiting" for a casting call, they leave, and the next losers arrive.

but then I have heard that it takes a while to get around because la feliz is far out. What in your opinion would be a good area to live with is close to jobs, people to socialize with and a pretty much good environment but an area that is not to expensive?
lildevon 2 years ago
Hey Lildevon,
This is the PERFECT question to kick off the next video. I have to make a different video today for the weekly show I have going on with my friend BCK205, but I will answer this as soooon as I get a chance to make a third video. Thanks for the comment!

Thank for the reply and I will look forward towards your next video.

Hey robotjason,
I have a few questions about living in LA. I'm looking to move from london to LA next year with about $7000 would you say that is enough for a people with no place to live and no job to start out until I get settled in with a job and a car. Also as I am a actor just starting out what would be the best area in LA for me to live. A few people have told me that Burbank or la feliz would be the best area to live (I have run out of space Q continues below)
lildevon 2 years ago
Hey Lexi,
It sounds like you're on the right track. When he got to LA he was auditioning right away.
robotJason 2 years ago
I ran out of words. Ha ha...
Build your resume.

okay... too much typing. Time to make a video.

hi. i live in south jersey. and i have no plan of moving to la anytime soon considering in 15 years old. i have headshots but not professional. i will get them though at a later time. and i live close to philly which is becoming a new popular spot for film. i dont know where to start. i went to an open call at mike lemon company (a popular casting director in philly) & i got put on their database for speaking roles and now i am starting to take classes but other than that what do i do?

Well thanks for checking out my video!! Are you an aspiring actor?? Yea NO SAG card here! (Sad) I wouldn't even know where to begin if I moved there, so thats why I am taking the long route living in Chicago, hopefully get noticed and commute back & forth if that became an option. Well hope your week is going well!

Hey Tony,
I am an aspiring actor.

Yeah, I'm hoping to give people a jump start that you and I didn't get when we moved out here. I'll probably call you up so we can brainstorm topics and such.
I'm about to watch the video. I'm excited... I'm looking that the thumbnail and the show already looks amazing.
Thanks for the comment buddy!
