@ Kova. "Which is better" is a pretty open question. My first suggestion is to go out and play both brands and decide for yourself. I like the Hartke gear because it sounds great, is priced well and their customer service is first class. GK makes some good products too but I haven't played any of their stuff in a few years. Good luck with your search.
Hi i'm looking to buy a new bass amp, and wondering which one should i buy a Gallien-Krueger or a Hartke. Could someone share their thoughts which one is better. :)
Hey BAK. I think these amps can get some good bottom. I usually run the "flat" EQ setting and if I feel I need more low end, I just usually add some from my Cirrus. I can't compare it to the Mesa or Ampeg, but I feel like if I wanted to get some serious lows going on that the amp could get it done. I've also only played it through the Hydrive 410, so cab choice will also have an effect on the final outcome of the different tones people are looking for.
Can you get any beefy bottom out of this head? I haven't heard anyone mention being able to get earth shaking tone from these heads like you can out of an ampeg or mesa.
Hey thanks musicman. So far this setup has been great. Between practices and shows I play this rig about 3 times a week, plus some church stuff too. So far so good. And if anything does go wrong it's nice to know Larry Hartke is only a phone call away!
Thanks for the video. Really like the hydrive 410 cab. I had a ha3500 head years ago and wasnt to impressed with it but i like this new lh1000. Leaning towards purchasing this head or an Bugera btx35000. Not sure on the bugera quality. I know my old ha3500 took a beating and held up so i know hartke will hold up good. Would like an update as to see if it has any faults yet. Thanks again for the demo.

I don't know which gator case it is. The back of the LH amp is flush with the end of the case. (with the cover off) Hope that helps.

the gator case model is Gator 2U Audio Rack, Shallow (GR-2S)?
elblack25 1 month ago
It's a gator case. I bought it at Sam Ash.

Hey man, where did you get the case you're using and how can I get one?
Romans10Verse9 2 months ago
The cab is sealed.

Is it sealed or ported ?

It's a Gator case that I bought at the same Sam Ash that I bought my Hartke rig.

@ DK
The 1000 is "stereo", where the 500 is mono. The 1000 has a balance knob for the two amps and that's about the only difference.

@elblack25:
I don't think so. I've heard of quite a few people who use the LH500 and Hydrive 410 with good results. If you can, try before you buy!!

it is a waste to use a LH500 on this harke 4x10 cab?
elblack25 3 months ago
@ stamossarris
Doesn't that combo use the LH500 head??
BassOnDrums 4 months ago
Do you think the 4x10 cab would sound different with another head? How about the 5410 combo for example?

@ applesauceinvasion:
I payed right around $950 for the head, cab and gator case that the head is in. The cab has gone up $100 dollars since the time I bought mine.

How much did the cabinet and head cost you all together?
AppleSauceInvasion 5 months ago
I don't remember for sure, but I think I had it on the stereo setting then.

Hi,
are you playing in bridge mode ?

Thanks for the tip Tony. I'll give that setting a shot. And yes, these amps are great.

Hi Actually on these heads the flat spot is 3-10-0 thats from Larry actually.
Great Amps.
1TonyPuleo 9 months ago
@1TonyPuleo Larry told me flat was 2-10-2 but 3-10-0 "sounds" more even but frequency wise 2-10-2 is flat

I've never played one of the 810's yet either. I'm sure it would slam though!
BassOnDrums 10 months ago
I wonder how it would sound on their 810 cab? I went to Sam Ash and they had it plugged into an Ampeg 810 and it sounded really sweet!
