is there no simple way to remove the scratch plate, im 14 and have no chance of putting it back together, i would like to know if it is possible to just unscrew the scratch plate and slide it out, or alternatively a easier way to remove it.

@stringbeanX its a souldering Iron, and to reattach it you would use souldering wire.:)

if i was to remove the scratchplate on a jazz bass guitar would i need to mess around with the eletrics and would it cause damage to my bass?

Type Allparts into google or wdmusic. Both supply scratch plates in the UK. I've used both companies with no problems.
